Why aren't you using the BWS ? It's more updated and can do all things better than the BWP.

Perhaps because it's the first time I've heard about it? :) Thanks, I'll check it out! But the game seems to work for now, so I think I'll leave it as it is ATM.
But the thing with your model, that's really bad is that as there's countless of possible variations, well actually the number is 1749 factorial, which is a humongous number... as in: What if I don't want the Z mod ? Yes, the BWP has 1749 components, and weather or you don't install the component gives you a factorial of that number of possibilities, as a reference the 1!=1, 2!=2, 3!=6, 4!=24, 5!=120... 9!=362880...

Yeah, that's why I said you wouldn't get the options - someone would have to make an authoritarian decision on what goes in and what doesn't (and also ask all modders for permission, but that's beside the point). Still, as a newcomer to BG (I was in high school when it first came out and sort of didn't have the time then) I'd take it any day over the selection process... Then again, veterans are very likely to disagree, which is understandable.

Anyway, thanks for the help! I just got to Beregost. Gosh, this game is hard...

Well, in that case you have not read MY :P FAQs for the Megamods. Or bothered to read the forums pinned topics... as it's one of them. Nähh... I never expect people to... which is why I hang here and point people to it. Now, if only I could just make that sound ironic.

Yes, the topic doesn't have the direct link to it as it's old and locked topic and I lost the profile (it's a story of it's own), but anyways, the nice thing about the BWS is that you can actually make your own mod component selections, and you are more likely to succeed with it than with BWP... at least to get what you wish, as the customization opens with the "..." button right next to the Compilation selector. Keep that in mind as you run to a mod that you won't like... so much that you wish to reinstall everything.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Oh I do understand your plight. :D To my defense, I read a ton of stuff on this, much more than I was expecting to. In this case, I didn't walk idly around forums... ;)

So THAT'S what those fancy pics were of! I thought it was some discontinued GUI for the BWP installer... Anyway, I'll try continuing with the present installation, since I don't feel like going through all this again. :)

Erhm, to be honest, there's more true to this that you probably realize, see as the BiG World Setup(BWS for short) is kinda a GUI for that and more, and yes also it was discontinues due to Dabus'es leaving among other things, for a bit, until it got re-continued by Quiet here at this forum(Silent_AC in BWS). They have my big thanks on all their work.

And I have realized long ago that people don't read, nor do I oblige them to read any of the forums threads... and I fancy myself still for trying to help everyone of them... so no defense needed. There really is too much to read everything about the BWP... so I quit a long time ago too....

Another help request from poor little me. I've decided to uninstall the game from my system (I have it on my other machine), but many applications have a problem with my national characters now - not displaying them properly or not opening them at all. I know my ANSI coding was modified by the BWP - it warned me on installation - but how do I turn it back? Changing administration options (region, language) does nothing...
I'm using Windows 7.

I'm using Windows 7.

Go to Region and Language settings in Control Panel, the forth tab there is called "Administrative", under it there is the "Current language setting for non-Unicode programs:" Change it back to whatever with the Change system locale... button. You need the admins rights and ... and you probably need to restart the computer for it to apply. And the system will actually ask you if you wish to restart if you change it. So.

You have to change the language for non-unicode applications.

Yeah, thanks, but that's what I did at the very start. Didn't help.

Did you restart the computer at the request ? Cause it won't change the settings if you won't !

Yes, many times :) And I do have admin rights.

Guys, I'll give it to you: BWP has presented me with some challenges I've never seen before, despite my many years of modding and using mods... :]

EDIT: Suddenly, it works. I am at a loss... Well, nevermind. :D

Just for the record:

The changed registry-key is underneath HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage, key ACP and the value to work with infinity Anímation is 1252.
If you know that it works now, I guess writing down the current value wouldn't hurt.

As far as I understood, you could set that value back to the old value after the mod has been installed, correct? Then saving and resetting it after installed wouldn't be a bad idea, would it?

Yup, could be useful. Thanks!

I didn't know the game would work properly then; so you're saying it's only needed for the installation itself? Good to know!

Well, you can bet my little Imp tail that ~90% of the hints in my FAQ are the result of me running into things in my BWP tries. In one way or another.

Well, actually extracting and installing the Infinity Animation related mods.

Well, I guess it would not hurt to ask if you / the user wants to change the setting knowing. that changes to the IA install afterwards may be a bad idea.
At least I understood that the files can be correctly addressed internally even if you change the setting after the install.
Also, the Setup from IA verifies that setting and would revert to 1252.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

That's correct, as the file names and animation library tie in is build at install time(after which they become just resource numbers)... you can actually see this in also in the fact that if you extract the archive with the wrong codepage, the files are wrongly named and the installation fails badly.
