I had asked this a long time ago, but I can't find the thread any more - probably lost in a forum upgrade over the years.

 

I've got a working install on my PC, and I want to move it to a laptop. The PC has plenty of room, so I never really worried about, but space on the laptop is a bit more limited. My BG2 folder on the PC is 28.7 GB with over 10k folders after using the "clean up" utility. I'm sure I don't that many to actually run the game. I know I can go through and take out all the .exe, .tp2, <folder> sets, but is there a simpler list of just what the game actually uses?

 

I did a full biff at the end if that makes a difference.

I would keep the game on your tabletop, and then first copy the whole folder to another so you can prepare the transport, then you kinda need these folder in there, erhm, not the cache folder though:

The majority of your actual files are in the data folder, and those are the files the game uses. You can also go and remove some of the files in the media folders like "portraits" and "music", but then you might loose things.
