If you're loading a lot of mods sometimes you sometimes find there's been a problem and "Fred the Potion Maker" is now called "open the box" or something equally irrelevant, worse your party names often disappear as well.
I guess it's something to do with the dialog.tlk.
Is there a single cause for something like this, like a comma instead of a semi colon, or is it something more complicated?
The only single cause that do this is that either your mod is not compatible with the game you install it to, or the need to restart the game after you install the mod. The former comes to question in all the BGEE game, with are meant to be installed to the BG2 game, when they use previously installed resources for their texts. So they for example add a normal longsword with a unique item code, expecting the game be BG2, they won't update the description reference and as that's not the case in BGEE, it just gives a random description.
Of course the second case is more often the case here if you don't know about it. And you always need to start a new game after installing a mods, never assume your saves are safe... as with the EE games, they can autoupdate which makes the thing even worse as it first overwrites things and you also need to reinstall all your mods when it happens as the update make the resources unmodified.
Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
