(I thought I posted this earlier, but probably didn't hit the right button.)

I have installed Java, and then

1) downloaded Near Infinity 1.3.0

2) extracted files to an empty directory. I have two folders Infinity and Meta-Inf, and two executable files, NearInfinity 1.3.0 and NearInfinity 1.3.0-ci

If I left click on NearInfinity 1.3.0 another window opens titled 'open game locate keyfile',  look in (allows you to browse the disk) then a large empty box, below it file name, and 'files of type'.

Does it look as though I have NearInfinity set up properly?

I have created a chr and converted him to a cre with shadowkeeper

I understand how to write the neccessary code

I just don't know what to do next with NearInfinity (or if I'm asking the right questions)

Can you give me a link to a tutorial for NearInfinity please?

Thanks

You have to tell NearInfinity where your game is located.  When it opens and displays a file prompt asking where your keyfile is, browse to your game directory and select the .key file there.

@aernor: If you extract the NearInfinity.zip to the game folder, you get the "key" -file from there automatically without the need to go looking for it, even though you can then go and find it out from a different folder, now it's also relevent to know the exact name of the file the NI is looking for as it's "chitin.key", and that should tell you that that file is in all the BG2 game folders, from BG1 -> to the -> latest BG2:EE .

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
