Well I finally have a working tactics installation! (almost) !!!!!!!

I'm running into this problem however. All the halberds in the game have an attack range of... let's say a crossbow   :\    so gnolls are attacking me from halfway across the screen. Is this fixable without     re installing?  If not.. which mod or component would likely be causing this?

There's also another slight glitch in my game. Whenever there's a cut-scene or a random encounter (monster spawn)  There is this odd looking spell effect. kind of a white helix... It's not game breaking, and i can probably live with it, but I'd rather get rid of that too if possible.

Here is a list of my installed mods

Can you say is this an effect only on the gnolls, or is it all the Halberds.
If you can reproduce the white helix, then we would like to get a screen shot out of it. To get that screen dhot, just push the prt scr -key in your keyboard if you have that and the shot will be saved to your game folders-  ScrnShot -folder, from which you can upload it to say the Imageshack for free, from there you should take the "direct link" and post it in these:

And as you mistakenly posted 3 topics out of this, I reported the two others to be deleted... hopefully that happens without incident, so we don't have to cross topic post. .

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thanks for helping me out with my accidental multiple posts. I couldn't figure out how to delete them.

I have however figured out that the attack range bug is caused by the halberds and not the gnolls. I found this out by equipping a halberd and attacking imoen, and I could attack her from halfway across the map..

perhaps  ~BP/SETUP-BP.TP2~ #0 #75 // Halberds and Spears Extended Ranges: v181-b4602   ?

Can I just run the SETUP-BP and try removing that component? that seems easier than editing the values in nearinfinity ...er

Here is a screenshot (hopefully) of the odd helix effect. This happens whenever a random monster is spawned, and at every cut scene with dialogue.  http://imageshack.co...3/5086/b6wm.png

I've got the same issue with gnolls on my custom Tactics-to-Expert install too.

When noticed gnolls attacking me from half the screen, I just figured that some mod gave gnolls ranged weapon and somehow its animation was lost in the following chaos of mods installation.

So Aaronius, are you sure it's halberds to blame, not some modded in ranged attack lost its animation?

Hey Creepin,

Well equipping a halberd to a character gives the absurd attack range as seen on the gnolls.

I haven't tried all the magical halberds though.

I just ran SETUP-BP and removed the component ~BP/SETUP-BP.TP2~ #0 #75 // Halberds and Spears Extended Ranges: v181-b4602.

so I'll let you know how that goes

Can someone give Aaronius a filename to changelog? :P (with the changelogged files) My current system lacks a BG install...

I have a hunch the culprit isn't just a single mod - and I won't be surprised if the lolfixer is involved

Tried changelogging halb01.itm (mundane halberd gnolls are armed with) myself, but apparently changelog is broken for me somehow. o_O Here's what I've got out of halb01.itm for example.

Content of the -log: weidu.exe version 22700

You need to use the most up to date version of the weidu.exe to create... well actually the one you use to make the mod installing. anyways, you get it by extracting the weidu.exe from the Windows Binary archive(.zip) from here.

Huh? How comes that WeiDU of exactly same version that was used to install the mod is at the same time too old a version to changelog it?

Anyways, as weird as this idea was, it actually worked, thanks Jarno :) Thus here I present to you half a screen ranged halberd :)

I think Lollorian is right - and it could indeed be Lolfixer to blame for "white helix" animations. It happens on Undead, yes? But not regular Gnolls/Humans for example?

As for Halberds - it's BP "extend Halberd/spears range", not ranged weapons.

Yes, that's correct. It's just that I've never used halberd in this playthrough, or I would found out sooner.

Here's a good example of how handy the Ranged Halberd™ is in killing chickens:

@Creepin: You should have some spare halb01.itm's somewhere (mostly in the backup folders of various mods - or I think changelog puts them all in some folder called changelog or something... I forgot :crying:)

Anyway, could you attach those as a package to check which mods messed with the halberd's range please? :P

About the white helix thing, if you could extract a CRE that exhibits this behaviour and then changelog it (with its changelogged versions) then should be easy enough to find the culprit :) (and I'll make sure the lolfixer pays for its transgressions )

Because the weidu.exe get's updated automatically if there's higher versions available in the folder when it's started. Well, at least if you use a special command to allow it or not to allow it. (I think it's he former, as the later was the standard before, but that got changed at one random time, and I think the reason was that the BWS used a beta version of the weidu.exe ...)
Ouh, and by the by, if the mod doesn't use the same version of the weidu.exe on all of it's mods, or at least a progressive versions through out the mod installations, it can create lasting and over the top breaking damage to the mod files. Though this shouldn't be much of an issue with the BWS as it should update all the setup-*mod_name*.exe's to be the same version.

Ouh you b-
The folder is called "change-log" ... ... it's the same where the .bat prints the change-log.txt file... which is why I made the instructions to give the advice to attach the folder, not just the .txt file...
Ouh, and there's no such a thing as changelog'ing... its either --changelog'ging, or change-log'ging. Yes, the semantics are where us the devils hide.

The 'helix' spell effect also happens at several cut scenes.

Well running the SETUP-BP ruined my installation i fear :\   running the tobexloader now just hangs at a blank cmd screen.

I guess it's back to running big world setup for me. Before I re install though I wonder which mod to leave out for that helix effect, so you think that it might be the Lolfixer causing this?  Would it be wise to skip that whole mod? or perhaps just a single component?

Playing through this 'new' tactics installation now, and I'm noticing that these helix spell effects are kind of like 'quest markers' that you might find in a modern rpg. All the npcs for quests or for the main plot are surrounded by this effect. It's kind of annoying, but I can deal with it I suppose heh

I **THINK** this constant white helix spell effect might have something to do with the 'mindshield' effect. I'm noticing that npcs with mindshield are all surrounded by this 'aura'..

Yep.. it's mindshield! and I see this visual effect causing a lot of lag since many creatures throughout the game have mindshield.

Is this a known component anywhere? or might anyone give me a hint on how to disable this visual effect?

thank you
