It's been asked for before - by myself as well as tons of others - but in various odd posts in random threads. So why the hell not crowdsource it? ^_^

What do you need to do?

Open up the latest BiG World Fixpack archive (as of posting, latest is v13.0.3)

Open up _BWP fixes.txt in it and go through every mod.

If a mod has changed files, document it in the TXT file in this format:

:: <Modname> <version>

:: <Small description of fix> - <filenames if only 1-5 files affected. Skip if more than 5 files>
:: <Link to fix> (link to the problem as well if link to fix doesn't have a link to problem...which it usually does)

Example:

:: Ding0's Quest Pack v2.3

:: Azazello's Infinite Rune Assassins fix - city_new.baf
:: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,24876.msg308040.html#msg308040

:: TheBigg's added Start/EndCutSceneMode - harpass1.bcs
:: http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=33538&view=findpost&p=393893

:: TheBigg's addenda
:: http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=36182&view=findpost&p=414114

:: omeletted's hell trial fix
:: http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=31309&view=findpost&p=370565

:: CamDawg's YuanTe-Mage spellcasting fix
:: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,24754.0.html

:: Steve's fixes
:: http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=37926&view=findpost&p=428254
:: http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?s=&showtopic=37926&view=findpost&p=428670
:: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,26020.msg316860.html

:: Temujin's current fixes
:: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,20010.msg323551.html#msg323551

:: Lollorian's corrected animation typo - sufakeb.baf
:: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/42220-fixes-for-the-big-fixpack/page__view__findpost__p__483642

:: Temujin's further fixes (points 13 until 18) done by Lollorian
:: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php?topic=20010.msg324567#msg324567

Mods with multiple reports are to be combined :P

But where do I find these links?

Now the links to fixes can be usually always found in the Fixes for the Fixpack thread.

PROTIP: If you see that the Charli mod has fixes, doing a google for "charli site:http://www.shsforums...he-big-fixpack/" will give you all pages containing fixes for Charli. Also works with unique filenames from mods.

Anything else?

The _BWP fixes.txt also has a LOT of entries that have been deprecated because of updated mods.

I wanna help but I dunno where to start! It's so friggin HUGE!!!11!one!!

This is not an individual project so everyone can take anything up. I'd personally suggest taking chunks of 5 mods daily, auditing the results and attaching/posting them in this thread to be compiled later. (if you can't decide yourself, use the awesome random letter generator to help you decide where to start from)

It might help if people post lists of what mods they're gonna audit before starting so others don't choose the same mods and we have duplicated work :D

I searched all over the internet but can't find what <insert change here> does! (aka let's ask Lollorian to do half the job)

If you find some change made by the BWPFixpack that you have no clue where it's from, please post here :) (no I won't start to hate you... no really :ermm:)

What do I get in return? / My paypal is down, now what? / I can haz cheezburger?

Nothing. You are expected to be exploited like mute internet slaves. Do it from the goodness of your heart or don't :P

But... ?

Ssshhhh, no tears... only dreams now.

I'll throw in a formal request here as well:

We're in a very, very sweet spot right now. Many mods--from Amber to the Yoshimo Romance--are looking at doing updates in preparation for the upcoming release of BGII:EE. As you start building the documentation, please post any fixes for mods to their forums (even if they've already been posted) as there's a very good chance there will be updates soon for a lot of stuff (even the abandoned stuff).

I know I'm looking at updates for a ton of G3 stuff, so if there are outstanding fixes, now is the time to report them.

:: BG2 Tweak Pack (BG2 Tweaks) v9

:: Mike1072's _KHALID's for BGT fix - Setup-BG2_Tweaks.tp2, P#FW2301.BAF
:: http://www.shsforums...post__p__489437

The above info from the txt file is obsolete and should be removed, there is no longer such a fix provided by BWP Fixpack (which is as it should be).

On a related note the current patch to BG2Tweaks that BWPFixpack provides prevents the installation of patched component (More Sensible Entrance Points) on certain BGT installs, namely the ones that do not have AREA090A.bif. I have files biffed with BGT's own compression option for my install which isn't the recommended BWP method; it's possible this may be the reason.

Whatever the cause, the patch should first look for AREA090A.bif before trying to decompress it, since it may not exist in every BGT installation, in which case the installation of this component will abort.

@CamDawg: excelllent suggestion; this really could be a great window of opportunity for the BG modding community to some needed clean up/updates and work together across the board!

Thanks. Isn't AREA090A.BIF from vanilla BGII though? :unsure: (I have the GOG version)

@CamDawg: I could go around posting in mod forums that mod XXX has some fixes in the BWPFixpack and they could open up the patch files in notepad to check them out.

I don't think the documentation update is gonna happen anytime soon :P So specifically pointing out why the BWPFixpack patches mod XXX might take a while.

No, it's worse than that. To address this bug, Tweaks has to use a beta version of WeiDU. Thanks to WeiDU's auto-update, Tweaks' beta version gets propagated and used for all of the BWS once it's present in the player's folder. I posted a hotfix which should only be used in the highly specific circumstances of installing this component on BG2/BGT instead of releasing a new, mainline version for this very reason.

Luckily for us, Wisp is very good at what he does, and the beta has been rock solid. Still, relying on a beta installer is an exceptionally bad precedent.
Thanks. Isn't AREA090A.BIF from vanilla BGII though? :unsure: (I have the GOG version)

That's a shame, because it's unlikely we're going to have an opportunity like this again. Unfortunately I've got enough to do without scouring diffs.

In CD3/data -folder... PS to Ithildur, the BGT requires the BG2 SoA&ToB to be a full installation to actually start the installation, so it won't be a problem for most people, unless you go and cheese with the .bat anyways and then it's your own fault, so:
Whatever the cause, the patch should first look for AREA090A.bif before trying to decompress it, since it may not exist in every BGT installation, in which case the installation of this component will abort.
That's a no.

That hasn't been a problem in the times the BWP has used the weidu.exe beta's ... as in the latest iterations it kinda has had to.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
