ToBEx  This is currently NOT mandatory

BG2Fixpack This is already mandatory for the core fixes

UB [This includes content restoration which is technically new content; the game will not break without it, so probably not appropriate for Minimal ... but maybe certain components of it are pure fixes?  ex. "Gorf the Squisher" fix, although it is in BG2 Fixpack so unnecessary; Restored Minor Dialogues sounds like almost a pure fix (except giving back Silver Sword); Throne of Bhaal Minor Restorations sounds like a pure fix (Sarevok's script not using proper soundset); Corrected BAMs and Scripts sounds like a pure fix]  http://mods.pocketpl.../readme_ub.html

aRestoration [None of this looks like a pure fix (correcting bugs in original content), so probably not appropriate for Minimal; I do suggest we move it from Stable to Recommended however, after which users can decide not to use it if they prefer] http://www.shsforums...ration-project/

GenBiff This is currently mandatory but we have some votes to make it optional

Better BG Areas [What is this?]

BG1UB [Coran and the Wyverns is a pure fix, also included in BG1NPC; Audio Restorations sounds like a pure fix; Area Corrections is mostly fix, not sure about the halfling enforcers but that's so minor it's probably worth making it mandatory anyway (fixes a game crashing bug for AR0717); Permanent Corpses to avoid losing objects from plot-important creatures sounds like a pure fix]

@agb1: Miloch's cre_fixer != horred's res_fixer (only used by BP)
@Lollorian: I believe you intend to say that Miloch's cre_fixer is not horred's cre_fixer ... but involving code ... could lead to whole lot's of interpritation mistakes, especially if someone would thing there was a Miloch's "cre_fixer !". :P  :tease:

Ok I'm wrong then :P

Miloch's CreFixer != Miloch's ResFixer (20.01. in that post)

Like I said somewhere in between :P I agree with Creepin's view of keeping only stuff that's needed by the BWP to function.

ToBEx (for its kit fixes which are essential to install any kit mod)

BWP Tools

BG2Fixpack (not for its pure fixes but because it introduces certain identifiers that are essential to install some mods)

GenBiff

The rest is all subjective

Creature Stuff - Inventory Overhauler (moves invalid but equippable items to inventory and equips anything in the inventory to a free slot)

I agree these are pure fixes:
- removes items from invalid slots and places them in inventory (eg: armor in weapons slot) and sets them to not-pickpocketable
- removes invalid combinations of items. Eg: 2-handed sword with shield etc (prevents crashes)

This is a tweak:
- equips any armor, weapon, helmet found in the inventory on the NPC if space allows it

Because, if a creature originally did not have anything equipped and the modder intention was for the creature to be empty-handed to avoid killing another creature in a scripted conflict, this "tweak" could break that mod.  I remember a recent forum thread about Igi's Item mod putting a club on an NPC thug that proceeded to kill an important creature when the original modder intention was for the thug to do non-fatal damage.

Edit: I would be happy with a slight change to this component, where it still equips anything in inventory (even though that might be more than was originally intended), but make an exception for a creature that originally did not have a weapon equipped so that this component will not equip a weapon in that case.

I think it is not 'realistic' for a creature to have items that it could use but doesn't use to defend itself, so even though it might be increasing difficulty in some cases, I personally would be fine with always equipping valid armor.  Just weapons is my concern.

Yeah that;s why I marked it as a tweak

About that thug report, the proper fix irrespective of the modder's vision would be to give that important creature an invincibility item like MINHP1 to prevent it from dying - ah well :ermm:

12=Fix Item Stuff - MAJESTIC Item Checker

- not recommended for players
- checks various stuff in ITMs for modders to fix themselves
- changes reported are subjective so lolfixer cannot automate their fixing

So, this does not actually make any changes?  Therefore, no harm keeping it (other than extra time) so the log includes information about unresolved problems with items in the install?

Please review my statements about pure fixes in UB and BG1UB also.  At least we should categorize the pure fix components of those mods in BWS under the "Corrections" theme, even if we do not make them mandatory.

This list seems much more justified to me, even though I still could imagine a person or two who wouldn't want to have G3 Fixpack :D

Btw just out of curiousity - the 6 foot pole mod, which one is it? :P (also reasons if possible)

Will answer in PM - I don't hesitate to use personal attacks when it is for Greater Good, but this here is clearly not the case

Heh, I doubt the average player is interested in sharing logs for modders reference - hell we don't even ask for the debug.txt these days  It's a modder only component and makes no sense being in minimal or even recommended :P

This is a persuasive argument.  If we call it a bug in the original mod, then we can still consider this a mandatory fix...  what say you all?

Edit - considering the benefit:  "Note: this should actually be considered a fix because it prevents crashes based on invalid item combinations  :P"

If one of the lolfixer components will fix some mod bugs, then Lolfixer should be required to install when those mods are installed.

Edit:  I don't want to use dependencies to require Lolfixer because the problems it fixes are not just the fault of a single mod, but from the nature of multiple tweaks and mods interacting.  So we can't predict when it will be needed and say "this mod always needs it" because it is "constellation-dependent."

Lolfixer is a global patch that only fixes things that are unambiguously broken.  So it will never harm any mods that are implemented correctly.  So there is no reason except time to avoid running it always.  And if you are an expert, you also have the knowledge to disable it.

Because I don't want to project my preferences in the matter I'll provide a bit more info, and options ;)

You could use the CreFixer to provide this functionality - the sole reason I wrote the "Inventory Overhauler" was because I noticed that CreFixer simply deleted any invalid combinations of items to prevent crashing (for eg: if a CRE had a 2-handed sword and shield equipped, both items got deleted by crefixer) - for me it personally made sense to keep both items so that I'm not potentially missing out on mod content (mod-added items etc)

The component expanded gradually to cover all kinds of cases (like armor equipped in weapon slots etc) and I thought instead of removing both items to the inventory, it would make sense for the creature to have the 2-handed sword equipped but the shield in the inventory :P

There was a time where it used to equip all inventory slots but I narrowed it down to just armor, weapons and helms because they are the only slots that visually change the creature.

To summarize: crefixer is perfectly valid substitute for the "Inventory Overhauler" if you are ok with items being deleted rather than just moved to inventory :P

Thanks, that makes it very clear.  I will update the cre_fixer description to explain this and we can let players choose.  I do think we should require one or the other, though, to prevent crashes.  I am not quite sure how to implement "mod a or mod b but at least one" using the BWS rules, so this will be interesting.

Hey, guys!

I wanted to do a BWS install on IWDEE and realized that for Scales of Balance many mod components are not shown properly: e.g.: "0680 Components are not displayed while using batch-installations."

I guess this has to do with the fact that those components where moved to Might & Guile, which has not been incorporated in the BWS-IWDEE.

Can this be done easily or should I just put an older mod version of SoB into the BWS downloads folder?

Thanks for any help in advance and for all the effort you put into the BWS project!!!

Hi Mhek!  Give me a few minutes here and I will update the BWS selections for IWDEE.  I don't actually have the game installed right now, so if you're willing I'll give you a test version.

IWDEE:
* Updated Scales of Balance (reduced list of components)
* Added Might & Guile to selection and added conflicts rules

Reporting Again.

Just attempted a BGT install.

Had an issue with the mod BG1 Unfinished Business (component - Minor Dialogue Restorations)

and the install came to a screeching halt when it hit the Crossmod Banter Pack for some reason.

Here's are the excerpts from the Debug:

Reporting Again.

Just attempted a BGT install.

Had an issue with the mod BG1 Unfinished Business (component - Minor Dialogue Restorations)

and the install came to a screeching halt when it hit the Crossmod Banter Pack for some reason.

Here's are the excerpts from the Debug:

Had the very same issue today - when I did an install last week it went perfect. Looks like the error was introduced just recently.
