Something seems to be wrong with the link for BG1 NPC Project:

It should work again, no idea about what caused the issue.

Hmm... still not working for me. Guess I'll wait and try again tomorrow. Good night, all =)

The BG1NPC link is not working for me either.  BG1UB works.

You have to remove trailing slashes from the download link when you're using lynxlynx.info.

BWP/BGT Game.ini:
- Removed dependency of Yikari(3) on BP(1250)
- Added conflict between Yikari(3) and BP(1250)
- Fixed typo (extra =) for "More Bandit Scalps" conflict
- Added Refinements HLA/Nathaniel NPC conflict

* Added "Leonardo's selection" to pre-selections list as a snapshot of the BWS "Recommended" pre-selection
* Changed text above pre-selection menu from "Community-defined Mods Compilation" to "Choose a pre-selection of mods (see text box on the right for description)"
* Edited descriptions of the built-in BWS pre-selections in Translation-EN.ini (the other Translation-??.ini files still need to be updated for consistency)
* "Tactic" renamed to "Tactical" for the pre-selection name

Revised BWS pre-selection descriptions:

BWS "Minimal" selection (!! essentials only - click button to customize !!)
BWS "Recommended" selection (community favorites)
BWS "Stable" selection (maximize content except tactical challenges)
BWS "Tactical" selection (maximize content including tactical challenges)
BWS "Expert" selection (!! known problems - choose components carefully !!)

--

With the snapshot of "Leonardo's selection" we can now change the "Recommended" mods to something like STEP as Lollorian suggested.

I propose we follow the concept of "STEP: Extended" for the "Recommended" list, and consider if we want to add more corrections to the BWS "Minimal" selection (any components that we all agree should be part of every install, period) as the equivalent of "STEP: Core".

STEP:Extended is about ...
... continuity and qualitative consistency of all in-game behaviors and assets (e.g., sounds, graphics, models, gameplay, etc.)
... new content, assets and effects that "fit" Skyrim and TES lore.

STEP:Extended is a complete Expansion Pack, meaning that it is intended to complete the entire STEP modded build. In addition to adding upon the visual and acoustic enhancements of vanilla Skyrim, STEP:Extended modifies aspects of the vanilla game in terms of gameplay mechanics and may include mods that add or subtract specific functionality to yield an overall more immersive experience. It is essentially an overhaul of the vanilla game.

STEP:Extended is NOT about ...
... Music replacement mods or game style overhauls.
... Gameplay overhauls that affect a particular play style (i.e., gameplay alterations are chosen that affect all play styles without bias).

So BWS "Recommended" would be:
... continuity and qualitative consistency of all in-game behaviors and assets (e.g., sounds, graphics, models, gameplay, etc.)
... new content, assets and effects that "fit" BG and Faerun lore.

BWS "Recommended" is a complete Expansion Pack. In addition to adding upon the visual and acoustic enhancements of vanilla BG, modifies aspects of the vanilla game in terms of gameplay mechanics and may include mods that add or subtract specific functionality to yield an overall more immersive and fun experience. It is essentially an overhaul of the vanilla game.

In other words, BWS "Recommended" would over time try to include as many stable mods as possible (so still a maximized experience), but with more judgment about content (only lore-fitting and well-integrated mods would be eligible for "Recommended" status).  Also, "Recommended" would (as it currently does) include the best combination of AI enhancements available...  Question -- should "Recommended" include Tactical content?  I'm thinking it should include Tactical content as long as it can be avoided (the well-integrated point).

Question -- should "Recommended" include Tactical content?  I'm thinking it should include Tactical content as long as it can be avoided (the well-integrated point).
If you choose one or another tactic mod, it's not a problem. Most of the time it will harden the game but won't increase to much the difficulties (single mod can sometimes increase a lot difficulty of some part of the game).
The problem with tactics mods is that they accumulate !
I mean, 1st mod add 2 "simple" mages to a basic encounter, and the 2nd one increase the power of all mages, and a third one allows mage to cast Contingency-like spells just before fight, and a fourth one give them Xtra healing potions... and so on...

I think playing "Full"-Tactics selection can be a real nightmare even if you have already played full BG1->ToB few times.
Do you remember your first play of BG1 ? I do ! I remember how hard it was to go to Friendly Arms :)
I also remember the first time I installed a mod that increase the difficulty of Irenicus Dungeon (don't remember the mod name), but I remember i had to read a forum to find how to success the fight against a Deva (with Illych and others) !

So, my personal opinion (as a player) : you should keep Tactics and Recommended apart.

Alright, so I'm having issues with these mods for my BG1EE install:

BiG World Fixpack
BG1 Unfinished Business (still)
The Stone of Askavar
BG1 NPC Project (still)
Coran's BG Extended Friendship Talks
Enhanced Edition Trilogy Tweaks
Thalantyr Item Upgrade

BWS either can't download them, or just won't recognize that they are already in my BiG World Downloads folder. In other words, If I click "Test present mods" it will delete them from the folder (only to then redownload the exact same file during the downloading phase). I understand that I could probably just download some of them manually and bypass the BWS downloading them, but for the sake of improving the BWS I'm reporting the issues that I encounter.

I've included both my BiG World Checking Debug and my BiG World Download Debug logs below, and highlighted (bold/underlined) the sections that appeared to have something go wrong. I am not a modder or anything so please forgive my ignorance if I miss or include something that should be obvious or relevant (or irrelevant, lol).

Attached File  BiG World Checking Debug.rtf   3.58K   173 downloads

Attached File  BiG World Download Debug.rtf   22.08K   214 downloads

Just in case someone asks: I used the latest version, at the moment, of BWS (fe33116)

Thanks for reporting Ser Elryk. I will let ALIEN figure out the lynxlynx issue. The links work for my browser so maybe the problem is wget.exe (the tool that BWS uses to download mods) treats them differently

I will check file sizes for the others and update if they have changed so BWS recognizes the files you have already downloaded.

Candidates for BWS "Core" (aka Minimal):

- Trimpack: Does anyone ever skip this?
- Innate Fix
- Lolfixer
- Unique Containers
- Sword Coast Map Labels
- BP-BGT-Worldmap
- BGT Graphics Overhaul (extended night and BG map fixes)
- 1pp
- Thrown Hammers
- Almateria's Restoration Project (except the Alternate Slayer Change component)
- Wheels of Prophecy
- BG2 Unfinished Business (except Cat and Mouse component)
- ktweaks RP fixes component
- BG1NPC
- BG1UB
- Lure of Sirine's Call

I am looking for a single "no" vote for any of these (someone saying they do not include that mod for every BWS install). If everyone agrees a certain mod (or even just specific components) should be part of every install, I will add it to Minimal. This means BWS will no longer allow you to deselect that mod/component.

The trimpack would be useless in that mod selection :P It doesn't affect any mod in that list :)

Also consider adding infinityanimations and generalized biffing to recommended. I hope bg2fixpack/tweaks are included by default

Lolfixer's spell fixer includes innatefix

I guess my point for trimpack is it does no harm even if not needed, but if you install the mods it does affect, would you ever not want it?

We can make the trimpack affected mods require it... Maybe better. Still, any reason why not?

@Lollorian

I am updating BWS to skip Innate_Fix because Lolfixer component 14 ("MAJESTIC Spell Fixer") includes it.

Should I do the same for Miloch's Creature Fixer v2 (included in the Big World Fixpack)?  Does it do anything that is not done by Lolfixer?

The lolfixer's creature components should be a full replacer for the crefixer :)

There's no "core" class in BWS I last used, but your "minimal mods" resounds with "minimum mods" therein, so please clarify: are we talking about mandatory mods that can't be deselected?

So basically you're seriously proposing this list as a mandatory mods? At first I was hoped there's some mistake in my conclusion... like, a mandatory, for real? Damn it, could we have Alien & Quiet back as the sole people who are allowed to change BWS please? I'd rather live with some bugs that with BWS turned into freakshow

Sorry to interrupt this... erm... argument? Debate? Confrontation?

But I hit a couple of minor snags with my latest BG1EE install involving the mod Klatu Tweaks and Fixes.

C:\Games\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition>The following originally selected mods could not be installed:

Mod: Klatu Tweaks and Fixes
Component: Prevent Wish Spells from Interrupting Caster
Component: Remove Chaos Shield Icon from Robe of Goodman Hayes

Also, this might be a dumb question, but when posting my Debug on here am I supposed to use the "BiG World Install Debug" or the "BiG World Upload Debug"? Here's both for now, but for future reference which one should I post?

The ones I am seriously considering are Lolfixer and BGT graphics fixes (they are just fixes, aren't they?). Also maybe the worldmap mod and map labels.

The rest I am just curious if they are viewed as essential or not. I don't really want to make them mandatory. There is no real reason to take away choice for those mods, but is there anyone who actually doesn't use them? If there is, why not?

The lolfixer in particular, I propose it becomes mandatory and we remove some redundancy (hide the 3 other versions of innate fix - BP 10, BPSeries 10 and Innare_Fix, and also the crefixer).
