Use Near Infinity instead.

Is there a updated guide for that somewhere? It was easy enough to use it for replacing the intro vid, but I can't tell how you would use it to edit a player char.

Also, is there a quick way to re-check mod options? I think I added a fighter change that I wasn't expecting, but I have no idea which mod added it.

You go to the section called "Save" and find your saved games there. Open Baldur.gam to see your party members, also all NPCs that are currently not in your party, and a list of all Globals and their current values.

Select *HARBASE or the party member with your NPC's name and you get all the settings and you can open submenues etc to edit.

Another section, Baldur.sav has all areas you visited and all stores you have used and you can evaluate and edit the saved details of those.

Near Infinity = the use cases are endless...

You mean you would like to read your weidu.log's content, that's in your game folder... just open the file with text editor, like Notepad.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

I want to use BWS for my new EET install. There are still mods missing in BWS selection that are claimed to be EET compatible. The list on G3 and in BWS are not the same. Will that change soon?

Anything specific that you are missing?

There might be several reasons why a mod from the compatibility list is not in BWS:

- the mod may have been technically compliant with an early test version of EET, has been put to the list but is no longer applicable to the current game or EET version.

- the mod may meet the technical requirements of EET but the G3 list does exclude any checks for mod compatibility and a missing mod may create problems with many other mods (e.g. overwriting files etc).

- the mod was simply never committed to BWS. To add a mod to BWS, some configuration files need to be created and its place in the install sequence be determined (+ eventual conflicts/dependencies must be defined). This is not done by magic. The best way to add a mod is to use the template http://www.shsforums...est-template/.. You can do this yourself with a request to the BWS database https://bitbucket.or...p/bigworldsetup or ask for someone here to help you do it.

- the mod author does not agree to have the mod in BWS.

PS - in some cases you can simply add a mod to your BWS install by either

- pausing BWS at a point where you think the mod should appear in the sequence - install it manually - continue BWS

- install it after BWS -not recommended for contents mods with dialogues/scripts because those require EET_end to be installed afterward.

It would help your cause to name the mods which are not in BWS. Or at least a few, to make your case.

@Roxanne

Thanks for that much detail.

Yes; I was one to believe that's all done by magic (i.e. automation).

I'll follow your hint to install some extra mods manually - and if they work fine in my EET, I'll come back to make a report or request like you suggested.

Cheers

It would help your cause to name the mods which are not in BWS. Or at least a few, to make your case.

I posted a list a while back. I think there is a bit of a catch-22 in the process that I'd like to see addressed. It seems like some mods (or mod updates) aren't added to BWS because they haven't been tested. But without BWS, it is hard to try and install any of these mods in a large, complex EET install because things have to be installed in a certain order. NTotSC 2.0 put out a beta in November. It is February, there have been no updates to it. It won't be included in BWS because it hasn't been tested, but how can someone be expected to test it in EET if they can't install it? So it just sits there, and likely will continue to do so.

BWS has different levels for mods. I get not marking it green or having it checked by default if it is untested, but I'd like to see ways to get some of these in the experimental section of BWS.

* Bardic-Wonders (currently need to be downloaded from master Github branch)
* Custom Kits: The Spellsword v1.4.1 or above
* Evil Kits mod (Ravager and Palemaster) v1.1
* FlameWing's Multikit mod v0.27.3 (no changes)
* Isandir's Portrait Pack v1.3 or above EET
* Mystic Fire Paladin Kit (currently need to be downloaded from master Github branch)
* NPC_EE v2.3 or above
* Pai'Na NPC for BG2:EE v1.2 or above
* Pale Master Sorcerer Kit (currently need to be downloaded from master Github branch)
* Revised Battles 6.3 (needs testing)
* Rough World vBeta or above
* Sheena NPC v2.3 or later
* Solaufein's Rescue: Jastey's Solaufein NPC for BGII vAlpha_160128
* Southern Edge v1.0 or above
* Spontaneous Casting For Clerics and Druids v1.3 or above
* The Sellswords v5
* Tome and Blood: More Options for Wizards and Sorcerers v0.7 or above

Roxanne said Southern Edge is not allowed in BWS because the mod author forbids it. But LavaDelVortel allows all their other mods in BWS and I can't find a single post anywhere where LavaDelVortel says they don't want Southern Edge in BWS. They've made it EET-compatible.

They've also got a new mod that looks interesting:

Skie - The Cost of One Girl's Soul

I don't know if it is EET compatible though.

Nihilism makes me smile.

I made some updates.

I also found that some mods missing have not ever been committed to BWS at all, so no chance to enable them for EET.

I fully agree to this.

NTotSC 2.0 is supported by jastey who did this update and the current status is by her explicit request.

-  for other mods: yes, BWS should give them a platform for people to try them out and thus get more feedback. I do this for my own mods all the time. The issue here is that it requires some commitment by the author to provide the mod information to BWS and to deal with the feedback from users. Otherwise, all reports about issues with those mods end up in this thread and are addressed to BWS where there is not the necessary know-how to deal with it. Maybe a chance to improve this is by the new Weidu version which now allows to specify a SUPPORT keyword to a mod. For mods where the author is no longer available, this can be used by the person to maintain the mod and to be contacted for help. I have done this for about 20 mods in EET now myself, which is probably the limit of what one volunteer can do.

Thanks for the updates and everything you do!
* Sheena NPC v2.3 or later  I love this mod and always install it but there is no download link for this version that BWS can use (they host it on dropbox for reasons unknown)

I want to find all the mods like this and politely request in the threads for said mods that they upload them to GitHub or even Google Drive or some place there can be a way to download it from a script. Dropbox will also eventually delete the file if it thinks it is inactive.

Do not get disappointed. Alien, who used to maintain BWS until last year, has made this attempt in the past. The result was that many mods nowadays use github. This has the big advantage that users finding issues or bugs can even provide proposals for correction directly to the mod. In some cases where a mod never was updated by the original author, the BWS now uses the community enhanced mod version instead. In many other cases, his effort was in vain

Do not get disappointed.

I can't contribute in most ways. At some point I may take a look at the BWS code and see if I can contribute there, but at the very least I can make a request for people to move to Github or something like it. Maybe they'll say no. Maybe they'll say yes. It doesn't hurt to ask.

It is not as easy as to just put portraits into some folder, you also need some code to add them to the menus where you create your creature. Look at the tp2 code of the Isandir portrait mod to see an example of how it can be done.

Something like this to be added to BGEE.lua file

portraits =
{
    {'MAN1', 1},
    {'MAN2', 1},
    {'GENDWRF', 1},
    {'GENMELF', 1},
    {'GENMHLF', 1},
    {'NHORC', 1},
