Do what you want / what's more compfy for you.
Guess you know that you can't use your saves (but you can use it to import you charakter) after that.

How can I get BWS to install to a directory that is not on the C: drive?   My OS drive is limited in size and I have installed my BG2 install to w:\\Black Isle\BGII - SoA

When i run Big World Setup.vbs it cannot locate baldur.exe.... which is in the folder.     My install works fine but I cannot get past the inital config of the BWS

Im running win 7 x64

Uhm, you're sure you didn't choose BG2EE instead of a BiG World Project installation? The output would be something similar.

Yes that would be the problem, I was selecting BG2EE.   I have the .bat file so should if  I choose Big World Install.bat (fixed and well tried)  -tactics can I customize the different mods I want or is it going to use a preset list until I modify the .bat?

Batch will use the batch to install -- meaning you can select mods and tactics installation but the components are fixed until you edit the batch yourself.
BWS installs are customizable by clicking through a gui (a treeview where you can select mods by theme, by a single mod or by a component).

RIght now the .vbs is downloading mods, I did the link test and it showed 3 were missing. My last question is will I see this treeview after the downloads?   I ask because it is downloading RoT and I do not want to install that into my game.  i have had problems with that Mod and would rather not use it.

It's on the same page as the folder selection.
Exit, don't resume and read the text about the different pre-compilations and how to edit them -- just press the button to the right if you're still missing it.

I would expect it to be the very same way you do with the normal BG2 game, AKA you push the "..." button directly next to the Compilation button.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

I am using the tactics install and excluding Rot, TDD and SoS using tree selection.  For some reason though it keeps downloading them or sometimes when I exit it will not see various mods in the downloads folder such as Weidu.exe, abystore etc..  I did already have a working install using the same procedures but I started again due to duplicate kits and spells.

If you already got the mods, you can just skip the download-part (where you can also decide what to do on install, extraction errors).
WeiDU is reloaded every time on purpose (because different versions have the same byte-size, so replacing files is a bit different as expected).
Other stuff may be either corrupted, download-sizes may not be detected by wget as they should, servers may not be responding...

If you are curious, you can take a look at the BiG World Setup\Logs\BiG World Download Debug.txt.

File looks like this:
BWInstallpack[]= BiG World Installpack v11.1.7z = 976974
<= NA
Expected for BWInstallpack is file BiG World Installpack v11.1.7z with size 976974. That's locally not available.
hammers[]= hammers-v3.zip = 778173
<= hammers-v3.zip <> 255160
This file exists on the local hdd, but size differs (here 255160 bytes).
JA#BGT_Tweak[]= JA_BGT_Tweak-1.71.zip = 9766894
<= JA_BGT_Tweak-1.71.zip = 9766894
Meaning: This file exists with same size.

Hi! I just got into playing BG1 and BG2 and heard about the big world project so I decided to get the original Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 from GoG. I was already downloading some of the mods when I read that there are different setups (like the standard, total happiness, megamod, etc.) for big world project. So I set it up again and a prompt tells me this:

"Some files may be of no use for the current "BiG World Setup". Please keep in
mind that this applies to unselected mods, too.
Should these files be deleted or moved?
Enter [r]emove, [m]ove, [k]eep or [c]ancel."

I chose move but it then proceeded to empty my downloads folder. Did it just moved the files or deleted it? Can anyone help? I've already downloaded so much and my net has a limit so I don't want to redownload the whole thing.

After that, you get a response Your files can be found at %s, where %s is the folder that was used.
That should be ~the parent-folder of the BiG World Setup~\BiG World Backup\Saved_BWS (or maybe BWP).

I didn't get that response but I found my files by searching my disk drive. I think there was a problem with my setup. Thanks for the help though  :lol2:

Hey all,

First off, just wanted to say that this program is absolutely amazing!  Just made my modding life a billion times easier, thank you for all the hard work!

Unfortunately, I'm having a slight problem with the program currently for my modded BGEE game :P.  I am at the point where BWS is extracting all the necessary files for my selection of mods.  The problem is, is that it is trying to extract the WeiDU.exe file.  The file is present in the main install directory for BGEE, but BWS keeps saying that it cannot continue without this file.

Here is the debug error for the WeiDU.exe extraction:

Checking WeiDU (Tool) ...
Extracting WeiDU.exe (0.9 MB)

The following process could not be started:
"F:\Downloads\BWS#2\bws_20140127\BiG World Setup\Tools\7z.exe" x "F:\Downloads\BWS#2\bws_20140127\BiG World Downloads\WeiDU.exe" -aoa -o"C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition".
This may be caused by several reasons.

ProcessWait-Error: 7z.exe
The following command failed to extract an archive:
"F:\Downloads\BWS#2\bws_20140127\BiG World Setup\Tools\7z.exe" x "F:\Downloads\BWS#2\bws_20140127\BiG World Downloads\WeiDU.exe" -aoa -o"C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition"
This may be caused by several reasons.

Hopefully there is a solution!

Edit the BiG World Setup\Config\BGEE\Game.ini by moving WeiDU from ExtractOnly to DownloadOnly.

Looks like that (right at the top):
ExtractOnly=eekeeper
DownloadOnly=WeiDU
Then open the parent folder and edit User.ini. Search for WeiDU=0 underneath [Current] and remove that line.
Edit Setup.ini in the same folder and remove the WeiDU-line underneath the [Faults]-section at the bottom,

Restart and resume the install.

Yesterday I installed BWP with BWS, and only one component could not be installed because of error:

ERROR: [VICONI.cre] -> [override] Patching Failed (COPY) (Failure("Conflict in priority list."))
ERROR: Failure("Conflict in priority list.")
Enemy items shatter (BGT Tweak Pack (9 Feb 12)) was not installed due to errors.ERROR: [VICONI.cre] -> [override] Patching Failed (COPY) (Failure("Conflict in priority list."))
ERROR: Failure("Conflict in priority list.")
Enemy items shatter (BGT Tweak Pack (9 Feb 12)) was not installed due to errors.

I customized Standard selection of mods. There were no conflict or dependency problems before installation. What went wrong here?
