No worry - I have NO INTENTION TO PLAY EE at all. I just need to get an assessment whether my BGT based continuous mod would ever be candidate for an EET based game (provided that some essential mods ever make it into the EE world.)

To PLAY the game in all its glory, of course I will use BGT.

Just out of curiosity, which mods do you consider to be essential (that are not currently EE-compatible)?

DSotSC (which is compatible but not on EET compatible list?????) NTotSC, TDD (especially the revised BG2 > ToB transition), RoT, Grey Clan

Do DSotSC and NTotSC add areas north of Baldur's Gate? Because the SoD expansion is supposed to add 70+ new areas in that region. Maybe it's related? Or maybe when it's finally out and people have a chance to properly assess it they'll make DSotSC and NTotSC EE/EET-Compatible then.

Worst-case scenario I'll just make separate installs for BGT and EET. Because I really, really want to play through the Sandrah mod. Though I am going to play the EET (with SoD) for my first playthrough. But when that's over one day, then I'm really looking forward to seeing where Sandrah stands at that point, as well as playing it and providing feedback =)

EDIT/SIDE NOTE: Personally the 3 best features that I've noticed thus far that are exclusive to the EEs are:

1) The Interface. The screenshots of the post-1.4 interface previews I've seen look especially good.

2) The zoom in/out function. I just think it's nifty.

3) The biggest one to me: Is how when you hold the Tab key it displays the names of all NPCs on screen above their heads. So if I'm in a city for the first time and I hold Tab and see "Commoner, Commoner, Commoner, Farmer, Commoner, [Insert NPC with a name], Comm--oh wait! they must be important!" (Instead of having to scroll the mouse cursor over them all one-by-one lol.)

I've actually updated BGT version of DSotSC (with the permission from the original author - CuChoinneach) to support both BGT and EET and rebalance all items in that mod. The update has not been tested yet, so it's not ready for release. Although it will be done at some point. It's available on my Github. Right now I'm focusing on other work.

The DSotSC for BG:EE is a different beast - based on BG1 version of the mod and differs from the BGT one.

TDD (especially the revised BG2 > ToB transition)

EET already has full BG2 -> ToB transition (unlike BGT). No idea how it works in TDD but check the "character continuity between BG2 and ToB" in EET developer's documentation for more details.

btw. we should really move this conversation from this topic. It's not related to BWS in any way.

Nah you'll need to get it from a vanilla bg2ee install... Im sure someone can attach it for you.

Drop it into the override once you get it

Do you mean a vanilla bg1ee install?

 Yes sorry :P

Someone should probablu mark that mod as expert lol

BG Graphics Overhaul mod has been fixed by White Agnus , or at least he was in the middle of fixing many TIS and WED issues introduced by it, when we last talked. Unfortunately he has not been active for a few months now.

Yes so without those fixes, it is unusable as it stands if Ser Elryk's posts are anything to go by... let the mod update or fixes come and the mod can go back to non-expert :)

Thanks Lollorian for being able to clarify so much better than me  It was one of the reasons I posted about it here, because as it currently stands it's flagged as Recommended. Which I agree it should be, but after it's fixed (as in the version that BWS detects/downloads/installs) :new_thumbs:

I've just installed the BP-test branch custom selection absed on tactical, there were a few issues in the install (particularly conflicts that weren't flagged in the selection screen), and have come across a few minor issues in the game (Unshey won't talk to me a second time, people on the Coast Way map seem to be running away from me without being hostile). What's the best way to report the bugs?

By being brave, and just going for it
Make a new thread in the Mega Mod Help forum, include the weidu.log's content, in spoilers if you wish/can, and include description of the problem as well as you can.
PS: The master branch is the more stable one.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Haha, thanks, I'll do that - I installed BP-Test because I was particularly interested in getting some components from both BP and SCS working before, and I tried it before manually with disastrous results (no AI at all - everyone just attacked the nearest enemy. Mages were really easy though...)

Just letting you know I noticed some stupid mistakes in Area Patcher 6. Some components won't install, fault of mine.

EDIT: Area Patcher ALPHA 7 just made into Fixpack. Those issues should be solved now :)

bp-test updates:

* Added conflict between BG2 Tweaks 4110 (Give Kagain 19 CON) and Level1NPCs 50/51 (revised joinable NPC stats)
* Added dependency Divine Remix 107 (Holy Strategist) needs Divine Remix 100 (Cleric Remix)
* Revised Battles 10 (Improved Firkraag NEJv691 patch) removed from Tactical pre-selection
* SCS improved Ascension encounters (Smarter Illasera, Smarter Gromnir, etc.) now have conflict warnings (user can ignore) with BP Ascension

Thanks wizardcorp and Imp for above.

* Original Ascension is now (again) preferred over BP Ascension for the Tactical pre-selection, because SCS Ascension components are preferred

Also:

* Removed old Scales of Balance 820/821 dependency (Coran kit change components moved to NPC_EE)
* Updated Might and Guile to version 1.6
* Updated Tactics components descriptions

Btw the Might & Guile "MRO" component (I think it's #180) really ought to be installed after all other mods that add creatures to the game. I'm specifically thinking of aTweaks with its revised fiends and undead. Presumably those include creatures with MR, which ought to be changed by the MRO.

So I need to figure out what to do about that. Long-term, I might just remove it from the mod and have it be a standalone mod to be installed later. (Or maybe I'll put together the MRO, the STO, and the SoB Wizard Tweaks as a magic-focused mod.)

But for now, since I believe the BWS can automatically sort certain mod components, you should probably move that component way down to the bottom of the install order.

We can certainly move just that component later in the install order.

There's a component Nephele Content in the Faren NPC mod, but the Nephele mod is installed AFTER the Faren NPC mod.

Depending how it the cross-mod is coded, it might not matter what the install order is. Ex. If it checks globals added by the other mod, that's fine because it's all at run time. Only if Faren needs to modify files added or tweaked by Nephele previously will install order matter in game. Or if Faren checks for files from Nephele as a prerequisite to installing the cross-mod, then the install order is enforced, regardless ...

Does it skip the component during install?

bp-test update:

* BGT:  Yikari 3 ( compatibility with Kuroisan encounter from BP 1250 / Tactics 8 ) install order changed: this Yikari component now installs right after BP Kuroisan (moved from line 1583 to line 3105)

* Added TDD and RoT to conflict rules for THAC0 tables and Sorcerer spell progression tables

* BGT:  Added sub-component choices for igi's Item Mod v5 (whether to install "flavour" items)

Thanks to wizardcorp and Lollorian for above.

* BG2EE: Might and Guile components 120, 160, added to Stable pre-selection (no known problems)
* BG2EE/BGT:  Might and Guile component 180 (Magic Resistance Overhaul) moved down in installation order to just before EET Tweaks
* BG2EE/BGT:  Magic Resistance Overhaul is not selected by default in any pre-selection

Thanks subtledoctor for above.

* BGT:  Added third sub-component for EET Tweaks FPS adjustment (custom value)

* BWS:  experimental overhaul of rule parsing -- dependency code needs optimization (takes a lot longer to load right now), but also improvements:  "warning" conflict and dependencies will no longer be resolved automatically, so we can offer users some some choice in the default pre-selections; complex AND/OR rules are now handled correctly (I think) where previously they were not behaving as intended

* Fixed lolfixer vs. crefixer conflict rule (lolfixer component 4 only)

* BGT:  BG2 Tweaks modified spellcasting tables removed from Stable and Tactical pre-selections due to conflict with TDD/RoT -- these components are still in Recommended pre-selection
* BGT:  Item Revisions weapon usability tweaks removed from Stable and Tactical pre-selections due to conflict with Might and Guile -- these components are still in Recommended pre-selection

I think we should rename Stable to Maximized as was previously suggested. Stable suggests a level of quality checking that goes beyond "no known issues" and as recent threads about failed installations have demonstrated, problems are not uncommon with that pre-selection.

Or maybe Expanded, per STEP/Lollorian.

Known issue:  manual right-click actions on the conflict/dependency resolution view are sometimes not effective, cause unknown at this time

* BWS:  fixed some bugs in advanced dependency rules parsing introduced in previous commit
* BWS:  can now recognize OR-gametype conditions at the end of a dependency rule, e.g., D:might_and_guile(500):TobEx(100)|BG2EE|BG1EE
* BWS:  ignorable conflict and dependency 'warnings' are now marked with double asterisk '**' instead of single asterisk '*' in resolution (when leaving tree-view)
* BWS:  expanded initial width of the mod name and component description columns in the conflict/dependency resolution view
* BWS:  expert/warning pop-up window after leaving tree-view now appears after conflict/dependency resolution instead of before

* Removed conflict rule between SCS 8030 and BP 875 (trolls components)
* Changed conflict between BP 1210 and SCS 8000 (irenicus dungeon tweaks) to conflict warning (can right-click to ignore)
* Reverted some Ascension / BP Ascension rules

* BG2EE: all Full Plate and Packing Steel components de-selected in all pre-selections due to manual download
* BG2EE: all Spell Revisions and Item Revisions v4 pre-release components de-selected in all pre-selections due to manual download
* BG2EE: added res_fixer before BP ... untested
* BG2EE: all NPC Kitpack components marked Expert due to multiple reports of incompatibility with EE
* BG2EE: BG2Tweaks spell progression tables components de-selected in all pre-selections except Recommended

* BGT: original Ascension restored to preferred status for Tactical pre-selection
* BGT: Longer Road component 2 (optional Irenicus portrait) de-selected in all pre-selections
