Downloaded the file as requested, file size of 26,696,620 bytes, then pasted it into the BGEE, BG2EE, and BigWorldSetupDownload files to overwrite what the program may attempt to install instead. Same result in the Install Debug.
D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition>

I do have to go to work now, but I'll check back in once I'm off shift. Thank you for your time and attempts at assistance thus far.

I suggest you rake a look here http://gibberlings3....howtopic=27756, especially to the issue of installing EET to protected folders. I cannot say if steamapps falls under that category, but I would move the games to be modded to a place where you have full access rights.

I can confirm that leaving the game in the Steam designated folders is an issue with EET.  Even after adjusting my admin rights, I only had success once I installed the games elsewhere.  In fact I picked up the Beamdog version of the games and installed them without all the hassels of modmerge etc.

Hello,

Long time fan of BWS.

Though I'm sad to see BWS for original games being outdated.

Is there anyway I can contribute so I can bring it up to date?

I recommend leaving the Steam versions right where they are in the Steam folders as clean backups. Copy them elsewhere and run BWS on the copies in a new location. If something goes wrong with the install or if you want to change things, you can copy the clean backups from your Steam folder again.

Look here

https://bitbucket.or...p/bigworldsetup

There is a section entitled *How to contribute* near the bottom.

Prepare for a lot of frustration and aggression, so only attempt it if you are definitely masochistic.

Frustration yes, aggression other than created by the former, not so much.

This and the fact that the BWS is not extracted to the game folder, and you get a game that can always be regenerated "easily", and have all the archive backups to reduce download times.
Ofcourse having done this to the non-EE games already ... with TC's etc.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thanks!

Out of curiosity. How supported is the Maximized preset for BGEET? Been having problems installing some of the mods and i don't know if the problem is with the mod, with me or the list.

There are different versions of this mod for different games. Your post does not tell which game you try to install.

The EET preset selections are more or less meaningless.

BWS is an old tool originally designed for classic games and BGT. These selections cannot be disabled. I can only advise not to use them but rather go to the full mod list and do your own selection of what you like or what sounds good to you. If there are conflicts or dependencies, the tool will tell you.

(This is a personal statement so people might disagree.)

It has nothing to do with a mod, it is that you try mod install on steamapps directory which seems to be a protected directory that does not allow some files to be changed.

Look at this http://www.shsforums...261#entry601318 and the following posts for problem and solution.

You get unix errors for not accessible files according to your log.

Did you run the modmerger tool in that directory ?

Do you really start from a clean install? Did you use modmerge at the first thing before you started modding or even started BWS?

Did you start the game, there ?
This is because if the game doesn't know where it's "located", the file that tells this info is created during the first start into the users profile files in Windows ... and the .bif's can only be extracted with that knowledge. So if you relocate the game, it can't, cause it's not provided with that info.

I'm now reinstalling from scratch. I had used the backup function a couple of times and maybe there was a problem with the install. I'll edit this post if this fixes the issues.

EDIT: Indeed the problem was my install, downloading everything again from Steam fixed the issue.

Eilistraees Song's download is pulling down a v6.6 when BWS is expecting 6.2.

Question: I know the original game mod compilation is outdated, but what exactly does that mean? We can't mod them because of Reasons? We might get more bugs than expected? I want to play the original with as much contenct as possible
