Alright, thanks for anyone who offers any advice- I'm stuck.

Unfortunately, I'm running off of Windows 8 and that might be part of the problem because I keep getting access is denied messages.

Big world installer.bat works up the point where it calculates conflicting mods and it doesnt' matter which answer I choose because the access is denied message comes up 7 times.

However, the installer keeps going and then it seems like the installer.bat is going to work but then I get several more Access is denied messages and a "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect." and a "the system cannot find the file specified" message. So I would assume something is wrong with my dir. or perhaps a admin setting. I turned the UAC off however so I'm not sure what the issue is.

GOG version. Big world install pak 13.07.01

baldur's gate II Ini.

CD4:=C:\games\blackisle\baldursgate\data\

Any advices??

Read the pinned topics, and you'll find this: 2. The common Windows problems.
The issue is probably the Program Compatibility Assistant, and then there's the GoG game paths and other thing mentioned in the thread. And then make sure that you empty the CD/DVD etc drives when you begin to install and also tread the other things in the FAQ topic... it's a lot past it's prime as things have changed, but there's still advice you should adhere to.

You did unpack all the mod files to your BG2 folder before running the BiG World Install.bat, did you not ?
And then there's an issue with the Unicode programs if your windows code language is different than the 1252/ANSI-english, this can be reverted by the 3.2 answer...

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Okay-  I was running my own profile on windows 8 with admin settings turned on and the UAC turned off.

Apparently that's not good enough, my windows 8 came with an administrator account so I logged onto that and it worked. SO if you're using windows 8 and having trouble with access denied messages try logging off of your WINDOWS 8 profile CTRL alt delete, and logging on to the admin profile (assuming your setup is like mine).

My setup is working so I'll be grinding away for the next few months or so.

Yey, yet another Windows Operation Stypidity... I swear they do this intentionally, stupid.

PS: CD6:=C:\games\blackisle\BGII - SoA\ - never existed in the game like said in the FAQ, so you can go and remove itin the BG2 baldur.ini just to make sure... the GoG version is, or it's instructions are falty on that part.
