I'm a big fan of Tashia and i was just wondering if there's going to be an upgrade or something to the mod? I know i should check the boards but all relating to this are from Sept and August. Just wondering if anything had changed...

oh, Bri, another thing...because you're the author of Tashia, would it be possible if i could write fanfiction for her? I like her history and thought that she'd make a great character in one of the stories i write.

I promise i'd do her justice,

Thanks loads,

First things first. Yes, Tashia will get an upgrade, no I don't know when. Initially it was thought Maus would do it, after the proposed changes were shown, but I guess real life got to him.

Anyways, if he doesn't return, Camdawg said he probably would upgrade Tashia (however, in one of these other posts here), he states that there were some problems as well. It is doubtful he will get Tashia done before he finishes the Delainy werewolf module (we just got all the NPC banters done, just doing some light 3rd party interjections there).

Second, I'm not the creator of Tashia, Aran is. However, he stated that Tashia is an open module to do what people with on it. Hence the reason I was able to write some extra material for her.

Finally, you definitely are allowed to make a fanfiction of her, if you wish. I don't own the character myself, Aran does. The only thing someone might have a problem with would be if you went to sell the story profesionally, claiming Tashia as your own character. Regular fanfiction? No problem.

Heh, how about giving Tashia your voice, Bri? Hearing April Ryan's voice in a different character sorta throws me at times, having played The Longest Journey before and hearing all of Tashia's voice clips in that game.

I stopped working with Tashia once I saw all the dialogs you were writing for her. So now I'm just waiting for whenever the patch happens. I do intend to grab the Delainy mod when it's released, however, so it looks like I'll have something to keep me busy in the mean time. Until then, I have my own projects under way.

My voice? That will not work for several reasons.

The first is that I don't have any equipment for the recording of my voice, as it were. The second is that even if I did, well, let's just say my voice isn't all that good for such an enterprise.

If there is someone who would like to contribute her voice, then we can see about changing her voice.

Superior dialog in my opinion.

Nice of you to say so :)

I agree, and in truth I really don't mind whether the dialog is voiced or not. I prefer superb dialog and story to voiced dialog *very* much, just look at Ultima IX: A game with all the dialog totally voiced, with a mediocre (at best) story.

BTW Bri, I'd really hate to give up reading. It's my favorite pasttime, now.

I agree, to a limited extent. There's nothing like voicing to add to an already good character however; for a good example, look at BG2 itself. There's so much in a voice that mere words and typing simply can't express. In the case of this mod however, it would only delay everything, and that's the last thing I want right now ;) .

Here's a solution, drink and read. Makes a boring book or text interesting as well.

Well Uriel, the option of voice was that, just an option. Heh, I guess too many females don't care for Tashia to suggest themselves doing it (not like we have put out any casting calls).

But yes, Lord Ernie, Tashia will probably not be updated/released then before early next year. Delainy is going better than I expected (thanks to Camdawg), but she has greater priority than Tashia.

I do apologize for any inconvenience. Unless someone wishes to step forward and code Tashia of course, that option is also open.

Hi! :D  um... I'm shadowcat, and i've been reading some of the dialog, and it's really great Bri, but is the dialog you wrote actually in the mod? I downloaded it and played through, but I didn't see any of it :( . In fact, from the day I resurected her to the Tree of Life, she didn't say anything to me <_< . The mod is still very good, none the less.

Nope, the new dialogues haven't been incorporated into the module yet. They were additions to fill Tashia out in ways I thought necessary.

The original mod as you played it was made by Aran, but he gave free license to anyone to change it if they wished to.

There's absolutely no need to apologize, I'm grateful that this great mod is being upgraded.

Lord Ernie - Perhaps I should start reading and drinking. I'm recently suffering a bout of insomnia and perhaps a small nightcap can put me to sleep.

Well I would code but being as I don't know how to code anything outside of Pascal, chances are if I tryed to make a character talk I'd end up making a singing Elminster appear accompanied by a can-can line of demogorgons. While it would be amusing it would also be counterproductive. And can anyone honestly say they'd want to see a can-can line of demogorgons?

Not really, but it'd be a sight, no? And as long as they stay in that line, I'm not running... What are you waiting for? Start coding already!!! :D BTW, most of the Weidu coding I've seen are just very large IF-THEN blocks, so Pascal could be a thing to start from nonetheless (as is any other coding language).

I hate If-Then statements. Besides, I should be working on this blasted paper and not making posts here. Stupid paper.

Some of the dialogue coding is a bit more complex then IF-THENs especially when you are adding to already written dialogue.

Of course it is, cause otherwise most everyone would be able to do it, which isn't the case. Also, please keep in mind that I don't know much (any) Weidu (my knowledge is limited to Assembler, C, C++, Java and bit of html) so I'm not speaking out of any authority here. The only coding I've seen is that of a few bcs files I was modifying.

Can-can dance: A rollicking, high-kicking French dance, accompanied by indecorous or extravagant postures and gestures.

Now, to get back on topic ;-)
