I have installed BGT-WeiDU plus a bunch of mods and got a lot of playing done. However I want to make some not insignificant changes to my mod selection (remove some, add a bunch more), but don't want to restart the game, nor lose all my personalization (since BG2 can import a BG1 character).

Can I export the character at the end of my BG1 portion of BGT and then import it into non BGT version of BG2?

If so, how do I go about doing it?

Well you go to the character window and click the export button, save the craracter etc... and then you do your modding, and then start the game from the BG2 menu option and then import the character you had made... you'll loose your items, yes, that's normal.
Now there's a few things you need to understand, the custom kits for example shouldn't be touched or you will loose the character kit order and might get idiot... if you had a custom kit on the character. If you won't though, you are free to do anything with the kits...

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Thank you, glad to hear it is doable, luckily I am not using custom kits.

A few questions

1. At what point should I export the character specifically? (that is, before I finish BG1, during the BGT transition, or as soon as BG2 starts?)

2. Do I need to manually move any files from the BGT to the BG2 directory to perform the import?

1. Well, I would do it after the SoA starts, but that's just me...
2. Well the BGT is in the BG2 game ... but if you will change the game folder, then you need to change (after the export) the <BGT+BG2 game folder>/characters/ -files to the new <BG2 game folder>/characters/ folder...
