There seems to be no F2 animation in my game for some reason (I have 1ppv4.1 though :P)
I tried installing ItemRev just to make sure it's not the source of the F2 animation. Also the IEDSP doesn't seem to list an F2 :unsure:
That would be the reason that would cause a crash to desktop ...
Welcome back my fiend... ouh sorry Cespenard dropped something, I hope your mastery toes were comfortably under the hammer.

OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

F2 and several shield animations aren't recognized as selectable by Near Infinity, even though they are added by 1pp/IR. You have to edit the equipped appearance field as string and write F2.

@ IEDSP

Of course, because Erephine created those new animations herself.

F2 - flaming short sword

c0, c1, c2, c3, c4 - shield animations

The installer 'runs' now, but it doesn't seem to want to install Baldur's Gate Trilogy. I can't tell what was installed successfully or not, but I was never asked for a BG1 directory, and running the game gives the choice between SoA or ToB as with a standard BG2 installation.

Here's my debug text.

Note this was my second attempt, so the install may not have been clean anymore -- I had the same result from attempt 1, though.

Ok custom install with just ToBex, BG2Fixpack, 1PP, and InfinityAnimations still doesn't let me reproduce the Suna Seni crash :unsure:

- SUNA.CRE has the L_FIGHTER_FEMALE_ELF animation (non-mirrored sprites FTW! :D)

- She equips SW1H27.ITM with an F2 animation (Arbane's Sword) which properly shows up as flaming on CHARNAME but looks like a regular red sword on Suna Seni)

... but no crash!

Changing any item to use F2 without 1PP installed causes a (obvious) crash but I doubt that's the problem. Also everything seems to suggest the problem should happen with just the F2 animations and not the other 3 non-BG1 animations :unsure:

Ah I miss the old days when bugs were easy to fix :P

@Jarno: Crazy as ever it seems :D Gimme a few days and you'll have some stiff competition :devil:

@TCM:

I guess the batch never gets back from the config.bat to the install.bat since the first thing the install.bat would do would be creating a text entry "1. CORRECTIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS" in your Debug-file. So you seem to get lost around the end of the BiG World Installpack\Config.bat. Open the file with a text-editor and scroll down.
%IFN% BWP_Smoothpack.installed CALL ".\%BWIP%\%BWSP%.bat"
%IF% ".\%BWIP%\BWP_Smoothpack.installed" copy ".\%BWIP%\BWP_Smoothpack.installed" "."
%IFN% "%TEMP%" MD "%TEMP%" | %M%

%IF% tisunpack.exe copy tisunpack.exe ".\%BWFP%\_temp" | %M%

:: check for the correct pathname - essential
Call ".\%BWIP%\Ini_path.bat"

:: add cheats - essential
Call ".\%BWIP%\Ini_cheats.bat"

:: add movies - optional
Call ".\%BWIP%\Ini_movies.bat

:: change settings - optional
Call ".\%BWIP%\Ini_settings.bat

:: update setup-###.exe
%TXT% | findstr @082 | %C%
Call ".\%BWIP%\ReplaceWeiDU.bat"

I'd add a line like this before every line that begins with :: like
title Step X was executed&pause

Replace X with something useful. Start the batch and see where you get lost.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

Having done that, I get this result:

result.png

No further text appears for the next few keypresses, beyond two instances of "1 File(s) moved" as shown, and that isn't on every keypress. It then closes.

Ok,

So the step "change settings - optional" never gets executed, correct?
You can either try to skip the "add movies - optional" since you only get to view the movies through the option in the main menu. Add a :: in front of the CALL for that batch.
Or you can try to edit that file in the BiG World Installpack-folder, changing @echo off to @echo on to see the output and by this what's happening.

Changing @echo to on doesn't change the output at all from what was listed above, save in the early stages of the program. It gives no indication to the crash's cause.

I'm officially stumped.

I tried doing a full tactics install, minus some of the NPC mods and NEJ2 and everything seemed to install ok except for wide screen mod.

The error that I'm getting is:

ERROR locating resource for 'COPY'
Resource [GMPWDMB0.mos] not found in KEY file:
    [./chitin.key]

I noticed that the Big World Install.bat wasn't installing W_GUI (nothing between the tutugui and widescreen calls in the .bat) - I did a manual install of w_gui, and widescreen mod is now installing without a problem and the game seems playable.

Notes for the BWPFixpack 12.2 :)

PSBOLT01.ITM fix for planarsheremod: http://www.shsforums...xpack/?p=554529

What's the proper procedure for adding the fixed .itm to a BWP installation? So far I've tried:

- Copying PSBOLT01.ITM to the fixpack's \planarspheremod\_copy\itm\ directory and overwriting the setup-planarspheremod.tp2 in the main BG2 directory;

- Overwriting the PSBOLT01.ITM in the \planarspheremod\itm folder in the main BG2 directory and, similarily, the .tp2;

- Copying PSBOLT01.ITM to the fixpack's \planarspheremod\_copy\itm\ directory without overwriting the .tp2;

- Overwriting the PSBOLT01.ITM in the \planarspheremod\itm folder without overwriting the .tp2.

In every case, I get an error during installation. Replacing the 'fixed' files with the original ones solves the issue. Any hint?

Should've worked :blink:

Please attach the DEBUG file of whatever mod errored so it can be looked at :P (or maybe copy paste just the error part)

I've performed a clean install of BGT, BG2 Fixpack, Restored Textscreen Music and Planar Sphere, but I'm unable to reproduce the problem (as far as I remember, I got a "Patching out of bonds" error). I'll retry later with a complete installation with every mod I intend to use and give you a detailed report.

Thanks, for now!

Edit: I know, I should have kept the debug files - however, I assumed that it was my fault and decided to retry every time from scratch.

The patching out of bounds would show up if you replaced just the ITM but not the TP2 :P

How do I know? I got it myself with the original fix (just the ITM)... that's why I remade the fix with a change in the TP2 :lol:

Genius yes? :D

Lollorian, you're perfectly right. I definitely forgot to replace the .tp2 during one of the previous attempts, as now the installation completed successfully. Time to put on the dunce cap and sit in the corner..

Edit: I'm now experiencing a strange problem. After the BWP installation, I started the game, played around a bit, and everything looked fine. Then I ran the cleanup batch, and suddenly I got the dreaded "An Assertion failed in ChSound.cpp at line 4905" error.. so, recapping:

- Installation with these mods went fine;

- The game started without any problem (with the TobEx screen appearing, of course);

- I ran the BWP cleanup batch;

- After that, I get the assertion failed error.

As far as I know, isn't TobEx supposed to allow more than 100 entries in the songlist.2da (which obviously doesn't appear in the override folder)?

If you have enough space on your hd simply don't use the cleanup.bat. Moreover, if you're encountering problems during play, it will make diagnosing those more difficult/impossible.

Actually sounds like something disabled the ToBex INI or something (maybe cleanup.bat gobbled it up? :lol:)

If you don't have a ToBEx_ini folder in your BGII, extract it from the attachment :P Also make sure you have Asmjit.dll and ToBex.dll as well.

Thanks for the .ini, Lollorian. I think that I'll follow 10th's advice - disk space isn't a problem at all, but I like every thing neat, clean and tidy ;) Thanks again!

Edit: correct me if I'm wrong. From the cleanup batch:

:: these directories should be cleaned

... "TobEx_ini" ...

:: save these file types (also include tpx files)
SET DOC_FILES=*.txt *.doc *.html *.htm *.pdf *.rtf *.tp? *.tra

Shouldn't .ini files be excluded from purging, like the ones with the listed extensions?
