What say you to hosting this on GitHub so you don't need to pay to host your code?

In our case, GitHub is not a good fit:
  • GitHub Pages does not support PHP, which our site uses.
  • Our site has a private workroom section, which I don't think GitHub directly supports.
  • We have a number of files on our site that exceed GitHub's max file size.

"Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart-arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself perfectly CLEAR?!"

For file hosting, GitHub has Git LFS (Git Large File Storage) which allows uploading large files (bigger than 100 MB per file at present).  They have free private & public repositories.  You could also put your downloads for this mod on a free Google Drive account and have much room to spare!

I'm unsure how your site/project uses PHP, but there's likely a way around it, like Google Sites.  GitHub also has no notable on-site tools for communication, but there are plenty of other means to talk to people.

I dunno if I would favor anything google over git heh. And I don't know much about them, but I'm sure there's tons of more modern collaborative tools/sites out there that make both of those look like stone tools from the Paleolithic era.

As I told Sam., we'd definitely want a tool that can serve web pages, readmes, etc. complete with images or having to dig through repositories. In other words, user friendly, not just developer friendly.
