BWP v11.4 Notes

I started new BWP "Tactics" installation (I'm using BWS to install components, minus NEJ and some bad NPC or Quest mods). The first was:

ERROR: illegal 2-byte read from offset 152 of 114-byte file CDDETECT.SPL
ERROR: [CDDETECT.SPL] -> [override/CDDETECT.SPL] Patching Failed (COPY) (Failure("CDDETECT.SPL: read out of bounds"))
ERROR: Failure("CDDETECT.SPL: read out of bounds")
Initialise mod (all other components require this) (Sword Coast Stratagems II (SCSII)) was not installed due to errors.

after copying cddetect.spl from BP/backup (file cddetect.spl in override folder during this error was TOO small in size) this error missed. Maybe it's beacause of BPv181 beta )or Spell Revisions v3.1, but it was installed before)?

P.S. An installation before I faced with another bug: I couldn't start BG2, because there was no Imoen in Irenicus dungeon (she fails to spawn). Any ideas?

Another problem just at the beginning of the game: game crashes after talk with Imoen in Irenicus Dungeon. It's nearly RoT or Worgas NPC mods. After setting SetGlobal("CreaWulfi", "AR0602", 1) Worgas began talk with CHARNAME but then again crush.

Some words about BWP installation. 

I don't understand how it's possible when there is a "stable" version of installtion(standart or tactics) , but during install of the mods arise a lot of errors, warnings and other bugs. Furthermore, during play all fails and crushes. No one of my installs (v10 through v11.4) wasn't playable at all. :WTF:

I do understand your frustration I really do, but you need to consider a few things:

 

Leonardo, the primary maintainer of BWP, have been very busy lately. This combined with the fact that many mods have been updated recently (and might need to be looked over again) makes it possible that there are some current incompatibilities/load order issues not discovered yet.

 

It might also be that it's just one mod that's messing up your entire install, which is not so bad, once you find it.

 

Also your computer can be to blame for failed installs.

 

And lastly, and this is the most important part of installing the BWP currently, do *NOT* use the preselections blindly. Pick a preselection and modify it. I know you said you did but you really should modify upwards instead of downwards In the case of the tactics preset. I mean that the tactics selection selects *all* non-expert mods. This creates an unstable game. Instead, try pick the recommended preselection (which is stable) and add some tactics mods into it. The game will work fine then.

 

Also, a tip: the mods SCS & SCSII can make the game really hard all by itself, if you check all it's tactics components. This is a modern, proven and stable mod. If you only install this, instead of many other older tactics mods, the game will probably be more stable.

Well the main problem was (I think so) the locale of language on my computer, but...

Another install:

 

Irenicus dungeon level 1 (first sight):

 

1) Imoen wasn't spawned in Irenicus dungeon. File "newgame.bcs" helped me to start the game (but without an NPC in the cell --> bones instead).

2) "Perfume" for bugbears   :WTF:

3) Arrows of Silencing dropped gibberlings after djinni (near 150 arrows)

4) Walking with Silver Star NPC causes slowdowns and sometimes total freezing (may be because of "Could Not Find Resource: *.WAV")

5) Is it possible to fix KIT.IDS (for barbarian and wildmage) without reinstallation?

6) How to change potions for rogues by using them by subclasses (such as ninja, swashbucklers and etc.)?

Well, I continue:

 

Irenicus dungeon level 1

 

4*) Well, slowdowns and freezes aren't because of Silver Star (my apologies). Sometimes during freezes BG-window doubles  :crazy:

7) Worgas's eyeball isn't Gauth, but something strange  :wacko: which doesn't move (don't test IT in battle). Kicked Worgas out of my party...

8) A lot of "Could Not Find Resource: *.WAV" in baldur.log and some "Could Not Find Resource: xxxxxx.BMP"

9) After meeting Chloe Imoen gets a lot of XP

10) Sometimes creatures spawn in the area with a delay, after re-entering the same place

11) Don't mention during install: improved summons #8 and #9 components are very strange in practice (for example, greater otyugh with gauth summoning)

Some suggestions about NPC mods:

 

 

0) NPCs must be rejoinable and they mustn't go to nowhere or unpredictable place

1) Individual items must be balanced at the begining to an end

2) Sounds, portraits and other resources must be (banters, quests SHOULD BE)

3) I think NPC should have kits that not so popular by players (by powergaming players)

4) The stats shouldn't be too good

5) NPCs role to show the player all the sides, oppotunities of the game

 

 

 

Irenicus dungeon Level 2

- Arrows of Stone to flesh in mephits???
- Some "Empty Items" in containers that can't be droped away (near mephits one, and one was before near Ilyich), will look in NI later
- RoT cutscene shows only after loading save game at Level 2...Ahhaha, Bruenor dies in the cutscene with drows, lol
- at this point of the game 2 bags of holding...to much (orange and regular one, I don't think that they must be at this point of the game)
- Driads and Escaped Clones talked to me as if Silver Star still with me (I left her on the first level)
- Wraith on the bridge...what is IT lost there?

- Drizzt, stats are very strange (as equipment): 6 attakcs per round  :woot:  , THACO <0, 5 stars in Two Weapon Fighting lol (will kick him out somewhere soon)

Waukeen's Promenade

 

- Potion of Necromantic Recuperation, Rocksalt which mod adds them? Same to magic arrows (Silencing, Slowing and etc.)?

+ Herbalism is an interesting idea, in additional with books for special recipes it will became a good feature

+ Jerry Zinger, nice

- Nabassu on the north-east of Promenade (broken Mprolla), it held itself, lol...Is this from The Bigg Questpack (in AR0700 tb#mprila, may be it should be tb#mpril)?

+ I love this Pack Mule  :new_thumbs: 

- Quayle ReDone: mini-quest looks good...but Aerie died :crying: 

- A lot of strange stuff from merchants, for a balanced playthrough should be done a hard filtering work  :(

- Offensive spin from Candlekeep Chores bugged (Thaco increased to 140!!! :wall:  )

- Two Joluves Merchants: one is in Athkatla (Ribald Store), on is in Cupper Coronet (same stuff)

- Kalah's Werewolvs doing real damage  :WTF:
