Hi, I just tried a standard installation of BWS version 20130117, but near the end of the extraction process I got the error in the png file that I attached. Does I need to redownload PST Paletted Animations or what? Don't really know what to do, thanks in advance for your help.

Edit: this is the second time that I forgot to click on attach this file, lol. Sorry, now there's bwp error.png. However I just follow your advice and now it works. Thank you!

Edit 2: well now the extraction is ok, the installation starts and finish when setup-bwinstallpack is installing.

"~SETUP-BWINSTALLPACK.TP2~ #0 #0 // BiG World Installpack-11.2.12.7z" in weidu.log is the last thing written.

I had the same problem in the past because I was using an old version of bws, but now I'm using the last one, so again I'm lost.

In bws I'm using "BiG World Install.bat (fixed and well-tried)" with standard installation, maybe I should try "BiG World Setup (detailed customization)"?

Where's the attachment?
Can you download and extract the BWS to another location and replace the existing/faulting BiG World Setup\Includes\07_Extract,au3 with the new one?
I replace it yesterday because of Walters post.

...
Fortunately you didn't use the C drive, or your game couldn't have even been patched properly... so remember that if you ever do install anything to the C drive...( avoid the Programmi -folder like the plague it is).

My bg and bg2 installation folders are in d:\programmi (x86)\black isle and there are baldur's gate and bgii-soa folders, not in c: with windows so I think I'm fine.

For the installation instructions I'm following "BiG World v11 english-11.2.1.pdf" and it mentioned that I have to avoid C:\program files or c:\programmi for me (italian).

Yeah, for now... :shifty: but what happens when the next service pack for the windows will come that will updates the protection to the D, E F and G... drives... Nope it's no where said that it does, but there's always the chance...
And what kind of program is the once that are in the "*(x86)" folder ? The kind that the original operation system can semi-easily run, while it can't run the earlier programs that should get shuffled to a separated folder ... , like the ones that need other tools like DosBox... it's wonderfully logical to have a separated folder for games that run normally on the pre(32 bit) and post 64 bit upgrade, while the once that would need such a thing(the 16 bit) don't get one. Then again, they can't be installed, so...

Eh, I guess what you two are discussing is completely unrelated to the problem or the way how to solve it, right?

Dabus-Sorry to keep at this, but I followed the instructions above and replaced the file but I continue to get the exact same message as Gattofigo. I will continue to hammer away at it, I know this can work because I had it working great for weeks.  Oh well. Thanks again.

Attached File  BiG World Debug.7z   510.15K   220 downloads

Strange, it works for me.

Still have some troubles:

1) "BiG World Install.bat (fixed and well-tried)" with standard installation continues to stop my installation. "~SETUP-BWINSTALLPACK.TP2~ #0 #0 // BiG World Installpack-11.2.12.7z" in weidu.log is the last thing written, but "BiG World Setup (detailed customization)" goes on until the end. Standard edition installation for both. Is "BiG World Setup (detailed customization)" better than "BiG World Install.bat (fixed and well-tried)"?

2) "BiG World Setup (detailed customization)" installation got an error near the end with lolfixer spell:

[BALDUR.BCS.BAF] PARSE ERROR at line 515 column 1-31

Near Text: BERSERKERtF
syntax error

[BALDUR.BCS.BAF]  ERROR at line 515 column 1-31
Near Text: BERSERKERtF
Parsing.Parse_error
ERROR: parsing [BALDUR.BCS.BAF]: Parsing.Parse_error
ERROR: [BALDUR.BCS] -> [override/BALDUR.BCS] Patching Failed (COPY) (Parsing.Parse_error)
Stopping installation because of error.

I finished the installation and bg2 starts, but I wonder if I will get some trouble without lolfixer spell. In the attach file there is the debug file.

3) Right now I install bg2 with windows 7 x64, one time I tried with windows 8 with another pc but with installation "BiG World Install.bat (fixed and well-tried)" I can't do much. After the extraction, the installation failed after a minute. So I wonder if someone managed to install with windows 8 and if there are some tips to make the installation works.

4)I tried bwp installation a lot of times, some works other not. Now I read all the procedures with gog version, cd version 5 cds, 3 cds, 10000 cds... But I wonder if there is a more stable version than the others. I tried with gog four or five times, but the installation stops after a while. Can't really make it works with gog, not even one time. So just asking if it is more stable with bg2 cd version or gog version, bg1 5cd version and the cd of tosc or 3cd version bg1 + tosc version.

And thanks again for you help

Don;t worry about the lolfixer failing on you :P What's freaky is why a file called BALDUR.BCS.BAF got created

(can you please check your override folder for all files call "BALDUR" and zip them up?)

In my override there are no files called baldur. In the attach file you can see there's no baldur file, also searched with windows search option but no result in override folder.

Forgot to ask you to please upload setup-lolfixer.debug as well  (hopefully zip/rar/7zed :P)

Don't worry about the lolfixer not installing, just play your game as normal ^_^ The BWP did well without the lolfixer for 6 years so it's not like you'll have some problem if it isn't installed

I keep doing full reinstalls but ultimately I get the same debug message.  Does this look like a dsotsc problem?  I guess it would help if I knew anything at all about this stuff but I don't.  I've tried searching but to no avail.

I'm not an expert, but maybe you can try to remove all files in "big world downloads", so that bwp redownloads all files. Maybe something is corrupt...

Not sure but you can try
