I started BG2 again, using the G3 widescreen mod to play @ 250x1440 on my new 1440p monitor. but the UI is just way too small, is there anyway to play at this High res with the UI expanded to fill the monitor?

Install Widescreen with a lower resolution maintaining the same ratio, 16 / 9, I assume (you probably meant 2560, not 250). For instance 1600x900. If you set the game in full screen mode, usually the monitor will expand to the full size and you'll get the upscaling done by the monitor or the graphic card.
There is no way to only expand the UI parts while maintaining to area view with the full size.

So what resolution do you suggest I use, for good picture but it not being ridiculously tiny. I am using a 27" monitor with 2560x1440 native res.

Well, you first should adjust your table icons in Windows to be as tiny as you can, then open your windows screen resolution setter through the control panel and look at your options, set the resolution to be the one you can see the quick icons on your desktop clearly and then you have your answer(then you can revert that above change). I use 1920x1200 on my 24" monitor(16:10), but it's all within the eye of the beholder.

As suggested the 1600x900 might be good, or 1920x1080, 1366x768, 1280x720... just to give a few options, it's all user&hardware defined thing, there's no mathematical best solution, without a dozens of more variables.

I tried, 1600x900, the picture seems clear and sharp. But it seemed a tad too tiny. Then I tried 1280x720, it wasnt tiny anymore, but its very blocky and not so clear.

The GUI won't help you if the default is too small...

Well try the options you have:

16:9
768x576
960x540
1024x576
1280x720
1360x768
1600x900
1920x1080

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Hi,

There is no way to "stretch" the map\inventory\journal ecc ecc?

For example , when I play 1920x1080 the journal is too small! Even with bigger font :\

Thx :)

Well no... none that doesn't involve your monitor doing the resize that comes with the smaller resolution size.

I'm the only that like to play at 1920x1080?
How do you deal with small Journal\Inventory?

Thx :)

Hi, I have a similar problem when I set any non-1024x768 resolution, the picture is either invisible or partially visible. It looks like it's positioned beyond the screen in the lower right corner. With 1024x768 it is situated in the central part of the screen. It's still unusable anyway due to very small physical size. The system has Intel integrated graphics and 1920x1080 native resolution.

Well, here's two very bad answers. Bad, because of your setup. And try to take them as a joke... they are meant as such.
1. There's this thing called a eye surgery. :P
2. Next time, don't get a Intel integrated graphics card.
The point being, that I haven't found an software to use down/up -sampling that works on Intel cards, while NVidia and ATI have theirs integrated into the video cards control panel, you can only adjust the windows background size in the integrated cards. There's even advanced and custom tools that can run games on variate of setups, that the GPU card brand own, and there's even freeware that works on them. One says to allow gaming in 3840x2160 resolution in a 1920x1080 monitor. The result is that the GUIs and other assets are smaller while the view into the world is larger, and there's less anti-aliasing distortion. These tools can also be used to play the games in 960x540 resolution, in the native resolution based monitors/displays(1920x1080), so basically quadrupling the size of the objects that are seen, just like with a , and setup the widescreen mod to use that resolution, you get a smaller portion of the overall view, but it's larger for your eyes, just like with a "magnifying" -software. It's not double-byte mode though.

And to give a loony toon answer to a question already lost to time...

I'm the only that like to play at 1920x1080?

Yes... :P I got myself a 24" 1920x1200 monitor, and use that as my base ... and the HD displays are far more common, so obviously you are not the only one that uses the resolution.
The smallness of the journal and inventory has never been an issue for me, I don't use any Font mods, it might be that I just am close enough to read the text as usual. I use the default setting in my internet browser and it has never been an issue. Even the tiny text.

Sorry, that I didn't answer to the message, because I was really very upset that my hell graphics card doesn't want to work with the game. :crying:

But, fortunately, I've found recently absolutely accidentally the mod what fix this awful bug! It is IE Direct Draw Fix! http://bitpatch.com/ie_ddrawfix.html

It solves the problem with half-seen screen! :new_thumbs:
