Anyone have any ideas?

Aside: why on Earth would you use your credit card directly when dealing with a non-financial institute?

I've never had trouble with it before. Or with Steam. Though I do trust Valve a heck of a lot more than Origin. And personally, I don't trust paypal.

All is well is good until somebody breaks into EA's network and dumps to the Internet a copy of a CUSTOMER_CREDIT_CARDS database that shouldn't have existed in the first place (see: the Sony fiasco last year).I've never had trouble with it before. Or with Steam. Though I do trust Valve a heck of a lot more than Origin. And personally, I don't trust paypal.
Paypal, being a financial institute, is at least more likely to adhere to credible security practices.

Disclaimer 2: in light of the above, don't assume that financial institutes will automatically handle your confidential data with the correct amount of security.

Also, I would advise against using your primary credit card in Internet transactions: your bank will very likely offer you a cheap(5-10$ a year) virtual Visa/Mastercard debet card. But yeah, PayPal's probably better: in Russia we don't have full access to PayPal(no receiving money back through our banks).
