So hey everyone, I'm yet another person, new to megamodding, who's having difficulty installing BWP!

The problem I'm having is that while I get everything set up fairly easily - extract all the mods properly, run all the self contained executable (i.e. stuff from PPG, et cetera) to get the setup-***.exe in the main folder, blah blah blah, the actual installation fails fairly miserably. What ends up happening is that the chitin.key file, somehow, I don't know how nor why, gets deleted when I run the installer batch. Not a clue how this happens, but I've tried it on two separate computers, and I haven't the foggiest what I'm doing wrong. UAC's disabled, there's no antivirus stuff, I'm installing BWP in C:\BWP\BGII - SoA, et cetera et cetera.

What happens is that the window tells me that it cannot find various files key to the installation of various mods, so, for instance, when it tries to install "Secrets of Bone Hill," it goes:

ERROR locating resource for 'getting 2DA lines'
Resource [PROJECTL.IDS] not found in KEY file:
[c:\bwp\Baldur's Gate/chitin.key]
et cetera et cetera.

When I check the Baldur's Gate folder, the chitin.key file is there.

So is it an installation weirdness? Did I screw up the extraction?

Unfortunately, not quite. Because when I check out my BGII - SoA folder, the chitin.key file is completely deleted, and I can't install any mod that requires anything from it, which basically means all quest and NPC mods. This is unfortunate, to say the least.

I've tried this with and without the trimpack as well. Normal mods without the installer work fine.

Any assistance? I'm unsure what, if any files I can upload to help you guys help me?

Sorry for another, probably stupid question, it's just I can't find anyone else who has this issue either.

Anyone have a clue?

...
[c:\bwp\Baldur's Gate/chitin.key]

That kinda doesn't make sense :P Why is SoBH's installer looking for your BGI chitin.key? Have you by any chance pointed the BWS to the wrong folders?

Does it say "Using scripting style [BG1]" when it starts SoBH install? I think I've seen something similar recently... But I can't find it anymore :x

I don't think so. I run the installpack in my SoA folder, and I had to initially point the installation to C:\BWP\Baldur's Gate, which is the location of the installation. One odd thing that I noticed is that right before it does the check to make sure everything's patched, et cetera et cetera, which it passes, it says '"..\"Baldur's Gate"\goggame.dll' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file.
I do have a goggame.dll file in my folder, but I'm installing based off of the disks, nothing else.

Yeah, it does. For Bone Hill, it says:

I've also been getting a parsing error, and I've no idea what that means:

Incidentally, is there any way to enable logging from a batch file/command prompt? It's being a tad aggravating that I have to type everything verbatim, because it's annoying to mark things when it's not paused, and annoying to enter in a pause break in the batch file.

You may check your logs and look when the BG2-style changes to BG1-style and you've got the culprit.
I'm pretty sure I read about something similar it at the Kerzenburg.
And I think it was DSotSC without the German tp2-fix. I think after putting that into the DSotSC-folder, everything was fine.

Ah. Found it... Click.

Yeh it has come up here as well recently but I can't find the thread... It's after BGT the scripting style isn't reset to BG2, I think DSotSC is the 1st one installed after BGT so that might be it, though I just installed it again (like 10th BWS install in a month, no issue besides few warnings I have reported) with no problem. I'm thinking it's OS specific but I might be wrong

Hey, thanks for all the help! Do you have any idea where I might find said German tp2-fix? I took a quick look around google, but didn't see it. And yes, DSotSC is where things screw up. I could get rid of that, see if it works, but obviously I'd rather not if I can fix the issue entirely. Similarly, in the thread you linked, while I saw the issue of the scripting style changing, I'm not entirely sure what to do to fix said problem. I mean, I know where to look to edit the install batch file, but I don't know specifically what I can nor should edit to actually fix the problem.

Either try the DSotSC-Forum (fixed topic), the link-list or click here. Just overwrite the existing file in the DSotSC-folder.

Huh. So for my BGT install, it's also using BGI scripting style. That normal?

Incidentally, put the setup file you linked, and incidentally, thanks for that, into my BG2 folder, but no luck there. Anyway, I tried the setup file you linked, but it didn't seem to change anything. I'm just going to get rid of DSotSC and NSotSC for now, and hopefully that'll work.

That's regular for BGT yes.

Are you using latest versions of each mod btw? I guess yes if yo use the BWS to download/extract/install. I still don't know why it works on my end and not on yours. OS/UAC/Antivirus or maybe other stuff is conflicting...

BTW that thread dabus linked wasn't the one I remembered, I'm still searching I'm pretty sure the poster somehow fixed the problem.

Well I found the thread but there was no real solution provided. Are you on Windows 8 by chance?

Nope, windows 7 home premium. Just got home, running the install now. I used the install list on kerzenburg, which I've had for some time now. Sorry for the bother. UAC's disabled, as are my various firewalls/antivirus software.

Worse, it's a kind of new computer, too. I had a hard drive failure recently (no, install didn't work there either), and recently got the fan/motherboard/hard drive replaced.

E: Don't know the policy on double posting, so I'll edit. It was definitely Dark Side of the Sword Coast that was causing the issues. Pity, too, I was looking forwards to it. Nevertheless, deleting the mods worked fine, and it's up and running. Thanks!
