To micbaldur : Honestly I believe tomkaz installs way too many mods. While theorically compatible on installation it creates a lot of unforeseen issues! Still it's still nice that someone is trying and reporting in-game issues, though most will probably never be investigated because there are too many factors.

Well i agree that it's nice that he's reporting his in-game issues. :coolthumb:

But about too many mods i have even more mods (even mods that aren't in BWP) than him and i don't have that many issues in my BWP that's why i'm amazed. :lol:

Thanks for your comments Beleg33 and micbaldur.

The intention of this topic is to inform other players about problems they might run into in playing a mega mod game. Also, where possible to give some simple solutions to get others around problems that may occur and prevent mods from being completed. Some additional information about my game. I am playing a lawful good paladin. The mods I selected are quests, stores, and some fixes. The mods I selected are from BiG World V11.1 PDF sections 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, and 26. Not all mods and not all components are installed. My WeiDU log is attached. I intentionally skip all mods that add NPCs.

No idea about the rest and I never bother pickpocketing or attacking guards.


I think pickpocketing is dishonest but legal where you are desperate for equipment or funds. After all, you are the child of Bhaal, an evil god.

The killing of guards is a cheat. I expected that to be treated by modders in the same manner as killing other innocent people. But since there are players who stuff the area from the Stone of Recall with BG1 goodies so they have them in BG2, why not let them know about this too. I also consider this method of getting goodies a cheat. I will pickpocket some useful items that I believe are required to deal with some "balanced" situations. Killing for profit is really not necessary as there is enough goods and gold in the game. Just be patient and you will get the all weapons, armor, items and gold you need.

I do have multiple strongholds from SCSII.

Areas: Guarded Compound; Sewer Mind Flayer Lair; Bridge; Planar Prison; Trademeet; Selence; Shadows over Soubar;

1..I had problems with Sion. Three times I could not kill him. The fourth time he followed me to the 2nd floor and everything worked out. I have the Neh'taniel mod installed but did not take him into my party. It was suggested that if Neh'taniel is not in your party, it may cause problems.

2..Umar Hills - I became the Ranger of Umar Hills. The Umar witch returned and needed to kill her. After killing Umar, you can leave the temple by two different routes. Do not take the route through the dragon's lair. Choose the one that leads you back to the main area (has the werewolf cave) else Minister Lioyd will not think you killed Umar.

3..I bought the Teleport Spell from Lady Yuth. Nalia memorized it, but it is not in her spellbook. Checked Nalia with ShadowKeeper and it is not in Nalia's spell book. Since I paid for it, I used ShadowKeeper to put it in her spell book. Now I can find it in her spell book. The party rests and Nalia memorizes the Teleport spell. Nalia tries to cast the spell, but it is not on her memorized spell list. I go back to ShadowKeeper and remove the Teleport spell from Nalia's spell book and give her a Teleport Scroll. Nalia tries to memorize the spell from a new scroll. Nalia cannot memorize it because there is a message that it is in her spell book.

4..SOS - I corrupted this mod - I messed up SOS because I did not talk to Selence before using the Letter of Introduction. Nalia opened the chest in the Copper Coronet that had the Letter of Introduction. She did this either with her thieving skills (enhanced by the equipment she has on) or with a Knock spell. I do not remember which. So I went to Umar Hills and started the SOS mod. This is a big mistake.

5..Selence - Used CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR1602") to get to the inn in Brynnlaw. Talked to Sanic to get the quest to save Claire. But did not save Claire at this time. Talked to Ginia to get the quest to save her and her brother to learn about Chermy. Killed Chermy to get the medallion to get into Lady Galvenia's Hall. Talked to Sir William and got his key. used CLUAConsole: to get back to Athkatla. This does not appear to interfere with the Shadow Thieves helping you, but I have not checked the other options to get to Brynnlaw.

6..Selence - Bucko Home - The Master Werewolf has been dead for a while. My party is still taking damage from him and dying. However, nothing indicates why? Check their health and all indicate they are 100% healthy. Replayed this using Carsomyr (did a nice job killing the Master Werewolf) and no problems this time.

7..Selence - Cannot get into Ribald's store. A friendly wolf was on the stairs. Killed it. Still cannot get into store. Replayed the last werewolf fight at the stairs to Ribald's Mart and getting into the store was not a problem. This wolf appears at strange times throughout the game.

8..Trademeet - I did not find Isson in Trademeet.

9..Trademeet - I got three Mantles of Waukeen. No problem as they acted like one.

10..SOS - You can save your game if you are inside any building but not outside.

11..SOS - CHEAT - I usually try everything, although I do not use everything in the game. There is no penalty for stealing anything in Soubar.

12..SOS - I had to CLUACreateCreature:("Cbisson2") to get Ceeb in his house to finish the SPY quest.

13..SOS - I have never been able to find the passage from the Soubar's prison to Lyrar's Hold. So I end up doing a frontal attack. You can go from Lyrar's Hold to the Soubar prison.

14..SOS - Picked up the Rune Hammer. Do not try to equip anyone with it as this causes the game to crash.

15..SOS - Mouse Position: 2075,1395 Tile Position: 32,21 Search Square: 129,116 Area: AR4307 - I cannot unlock this door or the one on the other side of this room. I used <CTRL>-J (teleport to cursor position) to get around the door. I think this problem was caused by me moving to slow when following Rolf Sureblade.

16..SOS - Storeroom - Area: AR4287 - Two handed swords found in a box cannot be removed from your inventory slots once you pick them up. Leave them.

SOS took a long time to play. Lots of bandits to kill and lots of loot to pick up. You will be rich when the mod is completed.

2. When you take the route through dragon's lair, is the forest in day or night time? What about the main temple entrance route? They are 2 different maps and the GLOBAL that you killed Umar is probably updated in area script (from area reached through main temple entrance). You shouldn't be able to leave the forest after going through dragon exit though: unless you CTRL+J to map border :P

14. This is collateral from both TobEX24 test release and Item Revisions. I suggest updating tobex to new beta release v24.8.7 (i think I've told you how to do this before) and/or grab IR hotfixes and from that archive copy the elemdam4.eff file (in item_rev/itm, you might even want to copy all the .eff and .spl files for more fixes) into override folder. Another solution if you don't want to do either of the above is to disable Use EFF File Fix in TobExCore.ini

Hi Beleg33. Thanks for the comments.

I had no trouble leaving the Temple Ruins area when I went through the dragon's lair. I think the exit is in the SE corner of the visible place where the statue is. I tried it a few times, but I do not remember the time of day.

The Rune Hammer is nice. But I have about 250 hours into this game and I am afraid to mess it up. Your information is very useful for other players and will be a great help to them in creating their mega mod game.

I am well beyond SOS now. But I will make a copy of the game and try your suggestions. I will see if I can locate the IR hotfixes and EFF File Fix. My fear is that installing a new copy of TobEx or fixes into my current game would mess things up. My best bet would be to create a new game with all the same files except the newer version of TobEx and see if my saved games work in that game.

I've read the walkthrough for the ranger quests as I've never done them and it appears you have to exit through main entrance of the temple of amaunator because that's where the druid dpirit is waiting for you to complete the quest. That might have been changed by some mod though.

The Use EFF File Fix can be disabled without harm. in game_root\TobEx_ini\TobExCore.ini find the line that says "Use EFF File Fix=1" and set to 0. Runehammer doesn't crash the game anymore! Without IR hotfixes the bonus damage on elementals (as an extraplanar creature) will not be applied, the rest should be fine.

I have had similar problems and some slightly different ones. The SOS problems were related to the biffing or installation. The training area for militia was causing a ctd. The files were in the biffed folders, but it still wasn't working. I ended up looking for the files with NearInfinity and copied them from the SOS to the override and it worked. This also solved bandits,etc not attacking, the script for them was not working even though it was in the biffed folder.

1)didn't have

2)I didn't even get the quest from Delon. After weeks just wandered over there and saw the wood spirit standing by the entrance to the dungeon. Make sure you talk to her on your way out of the dungeon too to get reward. Then speak with minister Lloyd. (I spoke with her, then the minister, then both again in that order.)

3)same problem

4)As mentioned above, some of these problems are from missing script. Don't know why it shows up on this install (I have BWP tactics too from late May). You can do the mod the long way-speak with Selence, then Brynlaw, then get money and talk with Selence again to get letters and proceed to Trademeet. Or pay the money to Gaelen, pick up the letters in CC, go to Umar Inn and proceed to Soubar. I did the latter because I was rolling in lots of dough.

5-8)didn't do yet

9-11)same here

12)didn't have, I followed the walkthrough to figure out the spy quest and he was there as one of the last suspects.

13)same here

14)I have had problems with most of the warhammers in game causing a crash when thrown. Only a few work, like the whirling hammer from Munchmod. Maybe I will try Beleg's fix.

15)I also had to reload a few times with Rolf. The tricky door for me was on the second floor, follow him quickly without picking up too much stuff.

16)Yeah I skipped looting a lot of stuff, including the storeroom, because I had so much money.

Also I don't have Item Revisions, and still got the warhammer crashes.

Your issue with hammers seems unrelated to Tomkaz' issue. Can't help on that one. Probably related to Thrown Hammers mod (in itself or mixed with others~)

Hi Beleg33. Many thanks for your information about TobEx.

I downloaded TobEx_Beta0024.rar. I looked through the readme files but cannot confirm that this is Version 24.8.7. The number does show up in the opening DOS window, but mine is so fast I cannot read it. Spent 2 hours making a completely new game with all the same files except TobEx. This time I used TobEx_Beta0024. Copied the saved files from my current game into the new game. I went back a few saves, bought back the Rune Hammer I sold. I can now equip all my fighters with the Rune Hammer without the game crashing.

I did not want to take the chance of messing up the game I was playing. But now that the TobEx Beta0024 version works with my saved games, I will use that game. From your comments, it looks like I will have fewer problems and more fun playing.

I celebrated too early. Although I now can equip the RuneHammer, my map of the world is really messed up. So it is back to my original game. I really do not need the RuneHammer.

I suspect the map is messed up because I am using saved games from a different TobEx version.

If it's the exact same install with just different tobex version, run the setup-bp-bgt-worldmap.exe and install "convert old saves" component. Worth a try

I took some time off. I got discouraged with bugs and mods that cause bugs. It is very obvious that many mods are not fully checked before they are released.

Areas: Forest of Tethyr; Small Teeth Pass; North Forest; AR3520 - Velvetfoot; Innershade; Planar Sphere; Sylmar Battlefield; Westchar (no RoT quests); Dungeon Crawl; Arlax (no RoT quests); Gaidan's Castle; Arlax Farms

1..Forest of Tethyr - Company of Eight - Easy to pickpocket, but I do not know how this affects the fighting.

2..Forest of Tethyr - Company of Eight - When you search the treasure left by dead enemies, you will find some have 65534 gold. This is a mistake. 2^16 = 65536 so I think someone mixed up + and - signs. This should be 2. You can pick it up if you want.

3..General - Flesh to Stone spell and Cacofiend spell use the Monster Summoning 2 picture. I guess this is because of the limit to spell icons as other spells also reuse spell icons.

4..Forest of Tethyr - Company of Eight - I feel that are a worthless bunch. I wish there was a way to go through the dragon dungeon without them. <CTRL>-Y does not kill any of the Company of Eight. I really hate them as they constantly prevent my characters from killing the enemy. They block my party from getting close to the enemy or from getting through doors to get to the enemy. In the meantime my party gets decimated by MAZE spells.

5..I just found out that like the Teleport Spell, Nalia cannot memorize and use the Freedom Spell.

6..Forest of Tethyr - Company of Eight - The maze spell is different in this mod than in other mods. You cannot get out by waiting. You need to use a Freedom spell. So far I could have used seven of them. So save frequently.

7..Forest of Tethyr - Company of Eight - Finished, but not very easy. When Zannaster The Mage is down to near death you need to do the following to finish this quest. This is from a post by Colonel Klink:

"CLUAConsole:GetGlobal("Cb_ZannasterHealed","LOCALS").The variable was 0, and I was to change this in 3 to force the Zannaster's changing. So here is the code:
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("Cb_ZannasterHealed","LOCALS",3)
Oh,don't forget to point Zannaster when you "CLUAte" him..."
From the last statement, I assume he means to put the cursor on Zannaster the Mage.

I needed to use ShadowKeeper to strip Zannaster the Lich of most of his equipment to kill him off. See my post about that,
The mod idea is good, but the programming leaves a lot to be desired. I do not like super characters which require a specific path to kill them. From now on I will skip this quest as it is to much trouble with all the errors in it.

8..Forest of Tethyr - Company of Eight - There is a door you cannot open. The message says: "This door is locked. Where it leads and how to unlock it, only Zannaster knows." After Zannaster, nothing else in this mod could get my interest. I just want to get on with my game.

9..Planar Sphere - I could not kill Tolgerias. So I tried a tactic I read in my research about this problem. I lured the female mage into the fire lab and than back to the original room. I beat on her until I was certain she only had one HP left. Then Nalia cast Power Word Kill. The female mage is now dead. After that Tolgerias cast every spell he could at Nalia including turning half my party into trying to kill her. It took some effort and many dispell magic spells to keep my party from killing her. After Tolgerias ran out of spells, Nalia was playable again. Then I beat on Tolgerias until I was sure he was down to one HP and Nalia cast Power Word Kill on Tolgerias. That killed him. I am not pleased with the way this quest has been "balanced". If you need 9th level spells to kill Tolgerias, better build up your party before playing this quest.

10..Dungeon Crawl - Game crashed in going from the 2nd to the 3rd floor on Dragonfang Isle. The cause was the file ARO#03HT.bmp was missing. If you get the mod from the Pocket Plane Group, all the files will be there. Thanks to Beleg33 for this information.

12..Arlax - The Monster Summoning VI spell is messed up. If you memorize it, there is a blank space in you spell book. If you click on the blank space to put the spell in your memorized list, the game crashes.

12..General - Something changed Drizzt's constitution stat to zero. He has the Girdle of Fortitude on so it was not noticed. However, with 0 Constitution, you die immediately. It may be the Girdle of Fortitude that does this as it has occurred two more times while he was wearing it

6. That's not maze spell, it's imprisonment and works as intended. All liches and demi-liches use and abuse this spell because they can, like Kangaxx or the Watcher's Keep demi-lich. Since there are a lot of liches in that dungeon you need a lot of Freedom scrolls or magic resistance to not get imprisonned (you can't save against it)

7. I've said it elsewhere before but I'll repeat. It works fine besides the ending cutscene (which you probably didn't get). Like trolls you sometimes have to stop damaging enemies for a split second for their "dying" script to trigger.
Here's what should happen :
- Bring Zannaster the mage to low hp (<10 IIRC) and he will cast Heal (which you shouldn't be able to interrupt) this also does IncrementGlobal("Cb_ZannasterHealed","LOCALS",1)
- Repeat 2 more times
- 4th time you bring him to low hp, he will use potion of Lichdom and this will trigger a cutscene.
- Now you fight Zannaster the Lich and there are other quirks about that fight which I don't remember in details. The whole battle should be fine again and he only dies through cutscene script (which was buggy until BWP Fixpack 11.2 or so)

8. Probably something that was planned but never seen the light.

Thanks for the comments. I looked up the Imprisonment spell in ShadowKeeper. I do not know why I was not aware of the spell. It is probably because I fail to read the comments on the screen when I get into major fights. It is a very nasty spell. It is too bad that the graphics are the same as the Maze spell. Now I need to see if I can find the Imprisonment spell somewhere.

I have and am using BWP Fixpack 11.7 so that should work. I think it previously was that Zannaster only needed to be brought to near death twice. I am not sure where I got that idea, but I got impatient when he did not die after the second near death. Your comments will help the other players.
