Shadows of Amn --- Irenicus Dungeon; Loron; Arlax; de'Arnise Hold;

1..Irenicus Dungeon - Confused by the "dog". This time the dog stayed blue. He would not join the party. I killed it for 100 exp.

2..Irenicus Dungeon - Keiria was not moved to SoA due to the change in how the latest version of DSotSC loads. I used CreateCreature and ShadowKeeper to get her into the game after I got into Waukeen's Promenade

3..Irenicau Dungeon - Illich shrinks and disappears in the mouse hole but does not appear on the second floor. Used ShadowKeeper to get acorns.

4..Irenicus Dungeon - Talk with Ulene is messed up due to the changes with Illich and the duegar. It should have been fixed when the duegar were "improved".

5..Irenicus Dungeon - Enemies get entrapped in vegetation. It Looks like a Druid Entanglement spell, but no one is casting spells. Check all the items in the group, but none cast entanglement. Only happens to one enemy. This continues throughout the game.

6..Irenicus Dungeon - Too many characters to add to the group. Forces you to make choices much to early in the game. Solution #1--Meet Drizzt, Wulfgar and Kachico outside of Irenicus' dungeon and somewhere in Amn. Solution #2--Fix Wulfgar, Thorfinn and any others to leave and go to the Copper Coronet like others do.

7)..Door to the Adventurer's Mart does not stay open. One character needs to stand next to t to keep it open.

8..Copper Coronet - Hendak disappears while you are in the Slavers boat. Looked in every corner twice as usu sally found him in the upper right hand corner in the room with the character who killed the little boy. This time I had to use CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("HENDAK") to get him so I can collect my reward.

9..Harpers Compound - Monty's body is not in the chest where it usually was.

10..de'Arnise Hold - There is an Elderberry bush in the land around de'Arnise Hold. I do not know why it is there.

10..Forgot where I found this. - Amulet of Enhanced Thievery +1 for mono and multi class thieves. Nalia is a thief, but cannot use this.

That's odd i didn't have any problems.

Heh. I have little more npc problems (Raziel, Shar-Teel, Hrothgar, Yasraena).

7)..Door to the Adventurer's Mart does not stay open. One character needs to stand next to t to keep it open.

II have this also and it's not funny. Also Mart is closed during nighttime.

9..Harpers Compound - Monty's body is not in the chest where it usually was.

If you have TDD it's probably part of Xzar's quest but quest is broken, I did found the body later.

10..de'Arnise Hold - There is an Elderberry bush in the land around de'Arnise Hold. I do not know why it is there.

It's part of Diuretic Elf quest from CtB.

10..Forgot where I found this. - Amulet of Enhanced Thievery +1 for mono and multi class thieves. Nalia is a thief, but cannot use this.

It's from the theif ambush while you travel to Adilhora in Loron quest.

1. Are you talking about Haiass? He's quite annoying IMO and I usually ditch him somewhere in BG1

4. Yeh that's always bugged me too. To micbaldur, it's just that you can't have the full dialogue of them giving thanks for recovering the acorns. You can only promise to retrieve them and bring them to Windspear Hills.

5. Which enemy, where?

6. That's the thing about adding too many mods, choices.

8. Do you have the feet circle always on? He can hide in real sady places.

9. I have TDD and found the body in chest, but the quest was broken later and Xzar has "nothing to say" when he reappears.

10. Holly the Elf quest, you can find him in temple of Helm in Athkatla. There are 3 more items to gather.

Thank you micbaldur and Beleg33 for the very quick reply.

I am sure your comments will help others when they get to this part of the trilogy.

As to the feet circle, I have them on and bright. As I said earlier, I usually find him in the last bedroom on the second floor. But not this time and not anywhere else in the Copper Coronet. However, I did find some merchants hidden in strange corners.

I have found Hendak at bedroom near Llynis and also at fighting pits. So he can probably be anywhere at Copper Coronet.

Those cowardly merchants shouldn't run during fights at Copper Coronet, it's hard to find them afterwards.

Why not? :ermm: You can go back to Irenicus Dungeon (AR0602) after you get Acorns from Ilyich (AR0603) and talk to Ulene. At least that's what i did.

Areas visited: Finished Arlax; Gaidan; Monzuma's Cave; Talavan & Olmar; Trollford; Westchar; Brynnlaw;
Spellhold; Sahuagin; Underdark

Not too many problems with these. None which cannot be fixed and none which cause fatal crashes.

1..Talavan & Olmar - Big Cheat - You can kill many guards without penalty if the killing is not witnessed. Lots of Experience and loot.

2..Westchar - You should talk to Hand before getting his son's body. Else, if you got Hand's son's body before talking to Hand, you will need to go back to the cave to trigger this quest. Then you can go to Hand and get the experience for recovering the body. Hand did not take the body from my inventory this time.

3..Westchar - Tavern - Cannot find a way to get into Burrich's room. A long, long time ago (not in a mega-mod game) I was able to get in there, but I have forgotten how to get the key. I think the girl has it, but could not get it this time.

4..There are three things you need to do in Brynlaw. Get the key from Sir Williams (Selence). See Brother Martin (Drizzt), and rescue Imoen. I only know of one way to get there in the game so I play each quest to the point where I need to go to Brynnlaw. I do not know if the Teleport spell will also take you there. But if you miss one quest, I assume you can use CLUAConsole:MoveToArea to get to Brynnlaw and back. It would be convenient if there was a way to charter a ship to take you there and back. Preferably after you rescue Imoen, then you could do the other two quests when it was convenient.

5..Shadow Thieves Guild, AR0307 - Room with the planks (look like ladders) there is a mage and a trainee in a fight. I get killed every time I get near the mage if he and trainee are activity fighting. You need to wait until the fight is finished.

6..Spellhold - Level 1 - You have Kurtulmak's Crystal Shard and The Hand of Dace, but the head does not open. The fix is CLUAConsole:SetGlobal(openHead","AR1512",0). This is the first time I have had this problem.

7..It is the first time I am playing Improved Asylum. It is also the last time I will play Improved Asylum. I think the "super" characters are a bit juvenile. I addition, the Breudayael character keeps casting spells so fast you lose all the game information in the bottom window on your screen.

8..Ilithid lair - Illithid does not spawn. The fix is CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("mindfl01"). Bonus: This opens all doors without using the control circlets. Save them for later.

9..Ust Natha - STR, DEX, and CON stats were changed and my characters lost the ability to cast spells. The fix is to change "Use EFF File Fix=1" to "Use EFF File Fix=0". This is found in Section [Effect Opcodes] in the folder ...\BGII - SoA\TobEx_ini\TobExCore.ini. After you revert back from being a drow, you may need to change the line back to "Use EFF File Fix=1". After I left the Underdark, I found no difference in the STR, DEX, and CON stats or the ability to cast spells with either "Use EFF File Fix=1" or "Use EFF File Fix=0". I returned to the value to "Use EFF File Fix=1" in case the value is needed for other aspects of the game.

10..I get the following conversation with Jaheira that begins with this line frequently at all times of the day:
....."Ah, the dawning of our day, though it is very rarely that we seem to match out sleep to the cycle of day or night."
Right now I just ignore it.

Thanks to Beleg33 for the STR, DEX, and CON stats fix.
Thanks to Woden for the Hand of Dace fix.
Thanks to Gothic Rose for the Ilithid fix.

I have already commented about too many characters in Irenicus' dungeon. Now I find that too many mods are started by characters talking to your group as they pass by. My ideal would be to have each mod start by the player needing to start the conversation. You could meet these mod starting characters in Inns, squares like tge one in the Government District, etc. I realize that the Irenicus main story could not be done this way. The result is that you get swamped with new quests from the mods and sometimes have to choose which quest will be done and which quest will be skipped. If the player initiates the quests, then all mods can be played. I also realized that quests that must be done in sequence would need code and conversations to delay the start until the other necessary parts are completed.

Just a bit about point #9 above, this is only relevant if you're using ToBEx 24 public test release which isn't advised for regular play usage. If you want it to fix stutter there are currently 2 workarounds available around SHS forums.

Heh. :o You play really fast maybe 24/7 because i play a lot and i'm much slower.

You are probably romancing jaheira and after that lovetalk Dermin should appear (you must be at outdoor area). Something is probably wrong.

Tom

I play every quest, every NPC quest and romancing every female NPC. You don't need to skip any quest if you don't want to it just need careful planning,

Only problem is NPCs that are gone forever if you kick them out but that's easily avoidable. Leave them inside a house then kick out of party and leave main area quickly so that they can't initiate kick-out dialogue just in case they come out from house and after you. Then when you need NPC go inside and NPC start kick-out dialogue say that you don't leave and NPC is back in party.

I have many NPCs in empty houses all over Athkatla waiting for their turn to do quest.

That's how i play all quests by this "Super NPC Switching" style. :D

Thanks for the comments Beleg33 and micbaldur. I am sure they will help others.

I am using TobEX 0024 because of advice I got in a previous posting.

Well I am old enough to be your grandfather, retired, and have an understanding wife. So I play about 12 hours a day, five days a week. Also, I have been playing Baldur's Gate since 1998. So I have a very good idea of what to do and how to do it. Helps speed up the game. I can tell you that my first time through the game took a lot longer.

Since I posted, Dermin showed up. So I guess all is OK.

I will try the trick with storing NPCs in empty houses. Sound like a neat idea.

Are you getting the BSOD frequently? I was and thought is was the game. After some checking, I found the battery on my motherboard was weak, about 1.2 V. It normally is 3 V. Well, it is over 10 years old. I replaced it and all seems fine now.

Well, if you are about 120 then you could old enough to be my grandfather. You are probably about same age as my father. I'm not young either about middleaged. :D

I play about 6 hours a day and 7 days a week. A have also played BGs since 1998 and past 7 years almost only BG1 and BG2. Haven't played or bought new games since 2005 and KotOR 2 and Rome Total War.

Since I posted, Dermin showed up. So I guess all is OK.

Good to hear.

I haven't got any BSOD but i had freezing problem. My PC got little overheated because it's summertime. I changed processor cooler to new one for the time being. I'm going to buy new motherboard, prosessor and other parts and make new computer in couple weeks. Mine is also 10 years old.

Thanks micbaldur. I needed the chuckle.

Glad to see there are some older (not old) players. It gives this site a nice balance.

The reason I have not upgraded my hardware is that I would be forced to abandon Windows XP. From what I have seen of later versions of Windows is that they are full of routines that interfere with running software that was not written by Microsoft standards my opinion). I have even removed all updates that are not required for XP to run. I noticed a big difference in the speed after I did this. Right now I am stuck with Windows XP SP2 because that is required by the motherboards on three of my four computers. Also, the company I consult with still uses Windows XP SP 1.

I also have most of the Neverwinter Nights series. If I ever complete BGT, I may look into the mods for these.

Well this is "slighly" off-topic but here i go again (Whitesnake).

Thanks micbaldur. I needed the chuckle.

Heh. Age is only number, you are so old as you feel or something like that.

Sorry, english isn't my native language. :ermm:

I use XP SP3 and won't give it up for quite some time. I don't like Vista or Seven? (or whatever it's called). You right about those win routines they are sometimes like pain in the .... oh behind.

I also have most of the Neverwinter Nights series. If I ever complete BGT, I may look into the mods for these.

I have played NWN 1 and two add-ons. Nice game but mods are not like in BG. KotOR 1 and 2 are great with mods.

Never tried or bought NWN2. My PC is too old to handle it. :( Well i'm not but my PC is. :P

Hi micbaldur.

Your English is very good. My comment "Glad to see there are some older (not old) players. It gives this site a nice balance" was supposed to be a joke that though we are older in age, our minds are still young. So it is my English that is not as good as it should be.

I thought I played NWN2, but I cannot find the game on my shelf. I will need to search through my stuff and see if I have it. Now back to SoA. I am in Bremen now and having a difficult time. I assume someone "balanced" that mod.

Areas visited: Arlax; Maribur; Mysterious Cave; Brennen

1..Mysterious Cave - Area RR4001 - A trap near X=3213,Y=1106 is weird. Sometimes it is set off, other times it does nothing. Imoen with 190 (with magical equipment) to find/remove traps cannot disarm the trap. The trap is lethal.

2..Brennen - Sometimes Torvald stays outside the gate but the game acts like he is inside the town. Other times he leaves the town right after he talks to you.

3..Brennen - Kieria - Just noticed this. She has fireball in her quick slot. If you click on quick slot or try to cast it from memory, it explodes immediately. All other spells work normally. This was fixed by deleting the Fireball spell from her spellbook and memorizing a fresh copy.

4..Bremen - Sometimes leaving the north gate can be a problem. The guards keep telling you to talk to Fenedon Tremp, even after you have talked with him. Press the left mouse key very rapidly and you will be able to leave.

5..Bremen - Dragons Lair - Monsters in the ice maze were very difficult, much more then I remember from previous games. The five dragons were as difficult as they were in previous games. I assume this was due to the selections I made when installing SCSII. You should be prepared to resurrect some members of your group so have sufficient raise dead capabilities.

6..Bremen - Underground Cult - I think the movable bricks and locked doors on the second level are artifacts left over from the original game which used this area. I ignored them, but may have caused me to miss something.

7..Bremen - Ice Tower - Thrown into the room with Telly's body too early in the game. I do not know what caused this. I went back to an earlier save and all worked well.

8..Bremen - Ice Tower - Assertion Failed - Ignored it and restarted the game without additional problems.

The quests in Bremen took longer to finish then the other RoT areas. This area is not as organized as the other RoT areas. But once you get into the quests, you are able to finish most of them with a little thought.

Since there were major problems with SoA, I restarted it from the beginning using my save game. This time I will put off chasing Irenicus until it is absolutely necessary.

Areas Irenicus Dungeon; Circus; Copper Coronet; Slaver Boat; Harper Hold; de'Arnise Hold; Loron; Talavan & Olmar; Eshpurta; Snake Woods; Barbarian Village; Umar Hills (Trollford); Under water Drow Library; Kivan's Cave; Temple Ruins; Windspear Hills; Unseeing Eye;

1..I sent Yoshimo to the Copper Coronet. In the Copper Coronet, Yoshimo refuses to talk to me. I have not tried to talk to he recently. I will worry about a fix for this later.

2..Copper Coronet - The Genie interrupts the game. Just finished the fight with the Slaver guards in the back by the jail cells. I get teleported outside the Copper Coronet so the Genie can speak to Drizzt before I can finish getting the key for the cells.

3..Copper Coronet - The arrows the Slaver guards fire hit and poison every time. There are no poison arrows in the packs. A cheat by a balancer.

4..Loron - What is the purpose of the mages at the opening scene. They do nothing. Easy kill for 8000 exp each.

5..Talavan & Olmar- CHEAT - At midnight, when there are no witnesses, kill all the outside guards. Lots of exp and loot.

6..Talavan's basement - CHEAT - Kill all the guards and use Knock to open the chest. Lots of exp and loot. Then you can take Olmar's side and get the loot from him too.

7.. Telavan & Olmar - Easy to pickpocket all the guards.

8..Telavan - Sound on the top floor out of sink. Sounds like a record (you do remember records) playing at 1/3 its normal speed.

9..Olmar Castle - Mouse Position: 337,396 Tile Position: 5,6 Search Square: 21,33 Area: RR3403 - There is a blue rectangle I have never been able to open.

10..Eshpurta - Easy to pickpocket all the guards.

11..From Eshpurta, I needed to go to de'Arnise Hold to open Snake Woods for me.

12..Eshpurta - Yuan-Ti mages cast 8th level spells. I wonder which "balancer" is responsible for this.

13..Barbarian Village - Tapanasacar Cave - The action was too slow so I lost track of the fight. It seems like you get an update about every 5 seconds, but miss the action that happens between updates. I used <CTRL>-Y to end the fight as it was no fun, just a pain to continue. In previous games where the speed was normal, it was a fun battle.

14..Trollford - I am in Pibble's house in Trollford. In the corner is Joaen. She talks like she is in Jermien's house in Umar Hills.

15..Umar Hills - I needed to go to de'Arnise Hold to open Umar Hills for me.

16.Trollford - Dinan is rescued and going after Keris. I go to Pibble, but he is not dead. He keeps repeating the initial conversation Keris and the Orcs are not there either. I go back to the Umar Inn. Now Dinan and Johanna will not talk to me.

17.Trollford 2nd attempt - This time Joaen is not in Pibble's house. The mod finished correctly as expected.

18.Seeing Eye - I do not understand why the change from Helm's Temple to Lathander's Temple was made. What was that about if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

19..Temple District - Tyrianna - This is messed up. After you replace Franco, Anomen's voice is heard talking to Jaheira, but the words are not on the screen. After the 4 assassins are dispatched, a Hurgis Baltezam shows up. Save before you kill him. Then kill him and go to the Radiant Heart. If you were wrong, go back to your saved game and give Tyrianna to him.

1. Could you repost your weidu.log in original post please? I had the same issue and I have an idea about what is causing it (likely Tortured Souls and any Yoshimo friendship/romance mod). I have yet to investigate it on my game~

18. Are you playing a good-aligned Cleric (single/multi/dual) ? If so that's vanilla behaviour.

No idea about the rest and I never bother pickpocketing or attacking guards.

Well i have this and i think that i know what's wrong. Reported it to Hoppy here. Sadly thought Hoppy hasn't been here long time now.

18.Seeing Eye - I do not understand why the change from Helm's Temple to Lathander's Temple was made. What was that about if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Do you have Multiple Strongholds component fron BG2 Tweak Pack. Because then alignment definds which temple you get as stronghold.

If you don't have that component you should get Helm and then i don't know what's wrong (i use that component without class restrictions, so i have gained all strongholds already).

I have played those same areas and i didn't have any other of your problems. I totally amazed how much problems other people have in their BWP games. This is my 3rd BWP expert install and every time my BWP has been less buggier.

CHARNAMEs excellent adventures in the world of BWP expert-install here

Thanks to Leonardo Watson for making this possible

To micbaldur : Honestly I believe tomkaz installs way too many mods. While theorically compatible on installation it creates a lot of unforeseen issues! Still it's still nice that someone is trying and reporting in-game issues, though most will probably never be investigated because there are too many factors.
