Darian's romance includes a friendship track, with stuff exclusive to the romance occurring independently of the normal dialogues. As for why he doesn't have a friendship track with guys, well, you have probably noticed that Darian is not a people person and is particularly prickly in BG2. A female Bhaalspawn manages to pique his interest and draw him out of his shell to a degree. A male Bhaalspawn, not so much under the circumstances.

I don't know which global or bit of code to change to retroactively make Darian think your PC is female, unfortunately (though I'm sure someone else could hop in and give you a pointer - K'aeloree did most of Darian's coding outside his dialogue). I believe you can change your PC to female before recruiting him for the first time and that will set things, but beyond that, I don't know coding well enough to say.

Word of advice - if you do get it working but don't want Darian to start the actual *romance* content, get to Spellhold before around his thirteenth lovetalk (one that happens when you rest in a forest).

I'd probably just open t1dar.baf in the scripts folder, delete the gender requirement [ Gender(Player1,FEMALE) ] from the Romance & friendship check at the very beginning, save the file with a text editor, reinstall, and then start a new game.

The globals would need to be changed to:

RealSetGlobalTimer("T1DarRomanceTimer","GLOBAL",3600) <-- I've never played with the console before so I'm really not sure how to set the timer itself, which is why I'd personally just delete the gender requirement.

Tempest, have you considered making this an optional component? Or at least adding those 2-3 dialogues so he wasn't completely silent? Valygar isn't talkative but even he has those...2 dialogues (or maybe 1 or 3?). Anything would do...
I am really interested with your character, but it's hard to play with him since he's got no dialogues with males...

As I said the last time you asked, no. I have considered and rejected it. There are Bioware NPCs who don't feel the need to talk to the PC (IIRC, Aerie, Jaheira, and Viconia don't unless you're male, and Keldorn, Nalia, Cernd, and Valygar don't outside of their personal quests), and Darian simply has nothing he wishes to say to a male Charname. Female Charname is an exception, and Darian striking up a relationship with her of any kind, friendly or romantic, is an aberration on his part. I have tried in the past to write a friendship track with a male Charname but come up empty - Darian simply finds nothing about Charname to be interesting enough to warrant inquiry unless there's an element of attraction there to draw him out somewhat.
