I'll keep an eye on it, but... why do all good single-player franchises dabble in multiplayer? I know, money, but it tends to involve plenty of sharkjumping and qualitydropping.

I've always said an Elder Scrolls MMO would be a bad idea, but now... I'm getting kinda excited! Won't be released until 2013, so we've some time before us.

@ Isilven: It's actually set 1,000 years in the "past", which would mean some time in the Second Era (circa 2E531). I have to admit, it's intriguing. It's before Dagoth Ur, it's before Tiber Septim... That would mean a lot of lore to discover.

Hehe, no, you're not Vicen, that's what this thread is for! I went ahead and moved your post, hope you don't mind. They're talking about three distinct factions, apparently, one represented by a dragon, another by a bird of prey and a third by a lion. Three factions, that leaves a lot of room for both disaster and epic greatness. Wait and see, I guess.

@ Isilven: It's actually set 1,000 years in the "past", which would mean some time in the Second Era (circa 2E531). I have to admit, it's intriguing. It's before Dagoth Ur, it's before Tiber Septim... That would mean a lot of lore to discover.
So, I'll do a quick checklist of what this means, for people who don't want to dig up the Timeline of The Second Era:
-Tamriel is not united, but is no longer under the rule of the Akaviri Potentates after the assassination of the last Potentate by the Morag Tong in 2E430.
-The Morag Tong is outlawed in Tamriel, because they LITERALLY WROTE "MORAG TONG" ON THE WALLS WHEN THEY KILLED THE POTENTATE.
-The Fighters Guild and Mages Guild have just recently been chartered.
-The countries of Anequina and Pelletine have recently united to become the country of Elsweyr.
This is all stuff as it sits. What are we likely to see during the game's progression?
-Black Marsh forcibly splits into an Argonian-only country, after the Knahaten Flu renders the country uninhabitable by men.
-The Akaviri Invasion of Morrowind in 2E572, which causes major shockwaves in Tamriel, leading to:
-The unification of Summurset Isle and Valenwood to form the Aldmeri Dominion, and:
-The rise of the great general Talos, better known as Tiber Septim, ushering in the Septim Reign.
-Tiber Septim's declaration of the end of the Second Era.
And, if we get to deal with the Akaviri Invasion, that means we get to hang out with our old buddies Vivec and Almalexia and Sotha Sil again! Though, as much as I hated the three of them, Vivec does troll the Akaviri pretty well: he literally uses his god powers to grant ALL DUNMER IN MORROWIND the ability to breathe underwater, then drowns all the Akaviri in the country. I would definitely pay money to see that cutscene.

Except that this title isn't even released yet and it looks to be a large step backward from the female armour appearance from Morrowind to Skyrim. It's not just some female gamers that play a female pc or want a female pc or npc to wear armour that actually looks like it provides protection.Well until there are more women gamers then men (or more women game developers) That is unlikely to change...

Like I said earlier, I always said I never wanted to see an Elder Scrolls MMO, and that was mostly out of fear that they'd mess it up (and because I'm not a fan of games I can't pause or save, now more than ever). But this... I'm trusting Bethesda and ZeniMax Online enough to believe and hope that they won't mess this up.

I spent way too much time getting stuck in the walls in Daggerfall and falling through multi-level dungeons, although I happily skipped away, unharmed, from monsters that suffered the same fate.
I'm a little sceptical regarding the timeline it will be set in as I've read that they may be using the premise of a Dragon Break. Basically having a situation where Akatosh has realigned time and space. I suppose this gives them flexibility with the lore but it could be messy. (Of course I could also be completely wrong. )
