Ok , after lots of help last year getting me up and running , I got BWP all installed. It automatically chose the mods to install then installed them for me.

Unfortunately due to a hard drive failure, I'm having to start all again!

I'm pretty sure I was using BWP10, but now there is a BWP 11, and this is where my confusion starts. Will it not automatically choose mods to download for me , or do I now have to select them individually? I was quite happy with the set up that was chosen for me last time, so would like to do that again, but cannot find any way of finding/installing BWP10

HAve I completely got the wrong end of the stick? Will BWP11 do this for me as well, but I just haven't figured it right? Having looked through the helps, some go to pages that no longer exist , and some go to pages in German language that I do not understand!

I have fully installed BG1/TOTSC/GGII/TOB. I have patched them. I have started games and quicksaved then exited the game.

Please could you tell me what to do now? I really don't want to have to choose and download individual mods unless I really have to.

Any help is - as ever - MUCH appreciated.

BWP 11 is a manual install so to speak. You have to decide on the mods and extract them to the proper locations and then allow the BWP batch files to do all the work of installing.

There are a couple different tools being worked on to assist in the setup. One of them is in a working beta state. I have had some success in testing it. You can read up on it here and decide if it is something you want to try. make sure you read thru the thread as there have been a few updates since it started.

If you do want to go the 'manual' route you can checkout this guide for newbies and up.

Interactive Tweaks for BG series with some IWD support. DOWNLOAD LINK ONLY!

Thanks for the reply. Tbh I prefer the way that BWP 10 automatically chose the mods for you.

Is there any way still to download and use this version, as I was more than happy with it?

Ok , I've been brave and decided to go for a manual installation.

I've followed the guide above downloading the various tools (WEIDU, Big World Textpack etc), but now I'm stuck. The guide doesn'rt say where they shouyld be downloaded to (is this important?) or if they should be run/extracted (does the setup program do this for me?). Also, although the official link list of mods doesn't work , trhere's a sticky on this thread, so I'm assuming I use that one? And is it important where I download them to?

I'm almost there now , so please help me across the finishing line!

(since I edit the guide now)

Make sure you make the directory names without quotes.

Make a new directory called "BiG World Downloads" somewhere on your hard drive. Download everything there. If a mod is a NSIS installer, move it into a separate folder called "nsis" inside the "BiG World Downloads".. Most of the Pocket Plane and RPGDungeon downloads have NSIS installers, except for RPG Kitpack, Banter Packs, and BG1UB. Archives that are weirdly packed (ie - have a extra folder or two inside, or in the case of BoM Item Pack, have a RAR extractor inside a zip file) should go into a folder named "weirdlypacked". Infinity Animations content files should go into a new folder called "infinityanimations".

As for extracting the stuff, get 7zip at http://www.7-zip.org/, Install it, (and please set it to associate all files except for ISOs), and in the "BiG World Downloads" folder, right click all the archives/executables and select 7-zip/Extract Files. Select your BG2 directory, and extract away. Then work on the other files.

As for the linklist, the forum is undergoing maintenance right now, so please be patient.
At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

Thankyou for your help. Almost there now

Downloaded mods, downloaded all required things. When I attempt to install I get a message saying

'The listed mods do not appear in your BGII - SOA directory'

Txtmusic

Although I did download it and extracted it. It shows as a file  'BGII - SOA\txtmusic\language\english\'

I assume I'm doing something pretty obviously wrong, but I don't know what!

Personally, only get a select amount of mods, or you will end up with a bloated and buggy mess.

Mods that I would personally recommend are:

* BG2 Fixpack - fixes a lot of issues with stock BG2/ToB. Highly recommended.
* TobEx - extends the engine more and fixes/tweaks some issues that cannot be fixed by the fixpack. Recommended - latest version is here
* The whole 1pp series - really graphically enhances the game.
* Gavin NPC for both BG1 and BG2 - a great cleric NPC to add to the game. Finch can also qualify as well.
* BG1 NPC Project - really expands the BG1 NPCs.
* Both Unfinished Business mods.
* Item/Spell Revisions
* Weimer's Item Upgrade
* Banter Packs, both PPG and IEP
* Wild Mage Additions - if you want it, don't use it with Lost Crossroads Spell Pack.
* Dungeon-Be-Gone
* Sword Coast Stratagems, both versions
* Homeward Bound
* Rogue Rebalancing
* BGT and BG2 Tweak Pack
* Tumbar's fixes/tweaks
* aTWEAKS
* Aurora's Shoes & Boots
* Infinity Animations
* Ding0's Expirence Fixer
* Level1NPCs
* Widescreen
* Generalized Biffing
At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

Thankyou both so much for your help so far.

Ok , got all the mods downloaded , 'compressed files extracted to SOA , and followed the instructions to run the others to a different folder then copy across.

One final question though - do I 'run the 'Unfinished Business' and 'Dungeon Be Gone' mods from where I downloaded them to, pointing them towards where SOA is installed, or do I simply extract the '.exe' to the SOA directory?

Once I know the answer to that I can get my installation under way!

either will work.

If you run the exe it will extract to the folder you tell it to extract to. if you choose the game folder after it is fully extracted it will start the installation process. When that happens, choose language. if asked about displaying groups or not yet installed components say no or skip as appropriate. If offered to install a component press q to quit. A debug file will be created but the mod won't actually be installed.

alternatively, try extracting the exe with 7zip. usually works, tho some exe type mods can't be done that way...
