First of all, I really liked the idea of this mod; particularly a romance option for Aerie for the case if she isn't in relationship with PC.

Unfortunately, I ran into a few problems with Darian during the installation....

1) During the installation, I don't recieve an option to choose a class for Darian.

2) Darian's installation seems to indiacte that he has crossmod content with Sarah, but his setup doesn't seem to see previously installed Sarah mod (v3.1 - the latest version currently avaliable).

P.S.

By the way, is it safe to manually change Darian's class with Shadowkeeper? Because I kind of prefer to let mages and thief to handle ranged support, and would prefer to see Darian as pure ranger (or possibly Justifier, which I feel would fit his paladin-like image).

1) Not really a problem; there is not and probably will not be an option to choose his class, no.

Probably, sure, but I can't guarantee 100%. Try Level1NPCs at G3, I think Darian might have a component.

I noticed the issue with Sarah as well. The reason for this is that the Darian mod is looking for the wrong filename. In the .tp2, changing the filename it looks for to "sarahtob.tp2" will result in a successful installation with the appropriate crossmod content.

Odd. I had intended there to be options to choose Darian's class - I created the appropriate files and whatnot - but I guess K'aeloree neglected to tell me that didn't/couldn't work. Sorry, and I'll edit the overview/FAQ to reflect that.

As for his class, I personally attribute it to the limits of 2E in general and the game engine in particular. Were this tabletop 3.5E, I probably would make him a paladin specializing in ranged combat (and there are elf paladin racial substitution levels to cater to that) and with cross-class ranks in wilderness skills, if not make him an outright ranger/paladin. Ah well.

Thanks to everyone for replies! Hopefully the issue with Sarah will be corrected on Darian’s next release.

In regard of class, if you decide to do more work on Darian, I am wondering if you could add an option to make him a Justifier (a ranger kit from Unfinished Business). Justifiers are LG combat-orientate rangers – essentially a sort of ranger/paladin, which would be a fitting choice for Darian, I think.

Unfortunately, further work on Darian may or may not happen in the immediate future. I'm in grad school, and this is the time of year when there's a lot of work to do on various assignments, mostly papers. I'll see what I can do, though.

By the way, I am enjoying the mod very much so far (though Darian's relationship with Aerie is still in early stages), so thank you very much for creating this mod!

Well, I may be able to get this done, bringing back the ranger, ranger/cleric, and stalker variants. I know ranger/cleric is technically illegal for a full elf, but I intend to add it anyway. I may also go ahead and make a blatantly illegal paladin version, with the caveat that he'll still be a ranged-focused character.

As it turns out, doing all that only took an hour or so, and sent it off to K'aeloree - Darian's next version should include options for him as a stalker, unkitted ranger, and ranger/cleric. Darian's overview thread has been updated with his equipment and proficiencies in those versions. He's still a crossbow specialist in his initial setup in any but the cleric/ranger. In that latter case, he uses Aerdrie Faeyna's favored weapon, the quarterstaff.

Would be even nicer if you obtained permission to use Justifier kit from Unfinishes Business (http://www.pocketpla...d=101&Itemid=80) for Darian as well, as it seems just perfect for Darian. (Not sure if that mod's creators are still visiting the forums, but the mod's readme includes Icelus, Cliffette and Andyr's e-mails, and hopefully those still work.)
