I only have the German and the English version of BG1 available. As you can tell from this thread, I'm relying on other players to give their report concerning other language versions.
I only know that the Polish version wasn't released by Interplay but by CD Projekt (which later created The Witcher, and is also the company behind GoodOldGames.com), so the Polish version could be different from the other international versions.
Edit to William below: You're right of course, I made a blooper and said Atari when I really meant Interplay, and I don't have an excuse other than "I wasn't thinking". (and probably because my mind drifted to NWN for a moment)

OT: how did the license go from Interplay/Black Isle to Atari? I thought that Interplay published the game - at least before being aquired and disabanded by Titus of Superman 64 infame then resurected by Betheseda and oh-god-this-is-complicated

The fact is that the tisunpack binary is 32-bit and is linked to 32-bit libjpeg62. But on 64-bit Ubuntu, doing apt-get install libjpeg62 only installs the 64-bit version of the library (which seems to be installed by default anyway). There is no way to install the 32-bit version of the library with apt apparently. I had, for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit, to download the 32-bit package of libjpeg62 here : http://packages.ubun...jpeg62/download
and installs it manually with with dpkg -i.
We can detect the problem by typing "tisunpack" on the console ; if we get an error message about libjpeg, we need to fix it like above (unfortunately the fix will be different with each system). 32-bit systems shouldn't be affected.
Of course a real fix would be one of the following :
- No more dynamic linking with libjpeg
- 64-bit binaries availables
Once the libjpeg problem was fixed, I could install BGT-WeiDU 1.15pre2 on my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit without problems and the worldmap is now working.

One tiny mistake related to the overhaul is still present:
Incredibly tiny error in dev.doc: One German strings - minus the s.
