No news so far on my end... Wait and see, I guess, they did say they'd release it in November.

Release date is set for 28th November for PC.

Other than that, the only piece of news that has made it to the public as of late is that they implemented a new upscaling algorithm (specifically, Cut-mull Rom Bicubic Filtering). Dave Gross also mentioned a new NPC for whom he's writing, and who I guess is probably going to be a BG2:EE NPC (unless Adventure Y also features new joinables, which I ignore).

Have they talked about how they're going to connect BG & BG2 play-wise? I'm sure import will be available, but will either game's areas be available while in the other game?

There has been no official word on this that I know of. The ability to import your BG:EE characters to BG2:EE was of course confirmed (after all, the feature was there for the originals so it would have made no sense to remove it from the EEs); Oster also mentioned that the relationship between SoA and ToB will remain unchanged in BG2:EE (i.e. once you start ToB, you won't be able to access SoA areas anymore). I guess—but this is indeed pure speculation on my part—that the same will be true for the relationship between BG:EE and BG2:EE (i.e. once you start BG2:EE, you won't be able to access BG:EE areas anymore).

Are you thinking in the terms of BGT ? Cause if the BG2:EE comes out as SoA & ToB, it won't carry the BG1:EE at all. Unless Ascension64 lets or leads a team for that to be made.

They've been advertising the EE with screenshots that feature the new blue UI... and I still don't like it.

The first one is bad, the second's too short to actually lead anywhere, and the third could as well be pulled from stockfantasymusic.com

e: \/\/ Never played BG1, sorry!

The first one references a song from the original BG soundtrack ... it's interesting that you would call it bad.

In all fairness, not everyone is a die-hard fan of the original BG soundtrack. :)

My thoughts on the music? Honestly, nothing to write home about. I thought the last one sounded a little WoW-like, which is nice, just..unoriginal.

Also, the music tends to stray towards the same blahness that happened in ToB and Dragon Age (and old cheesy movies) where there is just too much brass/oboe stuff going on.

I've always liked it very much, myself. Then again, I really liked SoA's and ToB's soundtrack, too—only Ps:T has tracks I enjoy more.

I loved SoA's soundtrack. BG1 was eh. ToB was a disappointment.

ToB was a disappointment.

How so? It is true that it was written by a different composer, but I've actually learned that from Wikipedia—totally fooled me. The main theme has a very catchy tune. What is it that you didn't like about ToB's soundtrack (besides the overdone brass/oboe instrumentation, I mean)?

As for BG1, there are so many great tunes in there: Candlekeep, Exploring the plains, Night on the plains, the night Cloakwood theme ... I mean, nothing wrong if you don't like them, but I've always enjoyed them so much that I find surprising that BG fans would consider them meh :)

I also enjoyed SoA and ToB's soundtrack. BG1's soundtrack was good, but it doesn't speak to me the way the others do. I can't really explain it, though... :(
But man, that SoA theme when you load up the menu... Gets me every time.

I'm...not sure what you want me to say exactly. I mean it's wonderful that you found the main theme of ToB and the scenery tracks of BG1 good. But other than the opinion/reasoning I expressed above, I don't see how I could really expand on my view much more (without going into rant-mode that is) and keep the topic productive. :)

I guess we have different tastes in music? :)

Even more FAIL I guess. I can't believe they intend to "enhance" the game by making it worse (first the UI, now this?).

Pretty much this. There is no reason to play this over modded original. It has far more "enhancements" that Oster's version.

Can't believe Baldur's Gate fans are supporting this project.

@Grunker - You must've missed a few posts. That map was never official, and the guy who posted it has been confirmed as an imposter. BG:EE will have a new map, but it hasn't been shown yet.

Besides, it is not true that BG:EE has less enhancements than modded originals. You could tell me that you're uninterested in what BG:EE offers over modded originals, and that would be one thing (and an okay one at that)—but facts are facts :)
