Also, doesn't "atmospheric effects" mean stuff like people reacting to what you do and doing normal, everyday stuff?

It meant enhancing the weather system - through your suggestion is pretty cool as well.
At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

Thing I dont understand..

There obviously is quite big community that produced lot of valuable stuff for BG series over the years.

Team responsible for remake seem to be socialising with the fans.

So why dont do a survey of already available fixes (most important) and useful mods?

Then contact the authors and get an agreement to use it (im not sure about proper legal terms here).

It could possibly save them time for some other enhancements that community couldnt implement due technical limitations, etc.

Marketing slogan like "..perfected with a help of fandom over the decade.." (some better wording) sound good to me, as for a potencional buyer

Just a few of my thoughts (excuse my english, not a native speaker..)

PS. If all this is by any chance happening, I would be nothing but happy about whole project :D

If Asc64 was indeed onboard, the potential for epic win in BGEE would be seriously boosted :D

Wasn't ToB supposed to do something like that, already (IIRC from a pre-release interview)? Though I know what you mean - and I agree it would be pretty awesome indeed.

Ah - fixing the fog bug.

At the cost of looking like a n00b, I must ask what the fog bug is (though I may infere that there is a bug in the engine that prevents the "fog" atmospheric effect from displaying, which is why I never saw any fog in BG/BG2... I just wasn't aware of the fact that such an effect even existed in the first place. Am I correct?)

Nobody should ever use the word "fandom" anywhere in their game, it's automatically associated with the worst people. The potential players will think Saerileth and Imoen Romance got added. :S

Yes, there is a FOG effect in weather.ids, but it doesn't work. Ascension64 is probably hard at work fixing it :).

I'm not a n00b, and I have absolutely no idea what the fog was supposed to do, how would it have looked like.

"Atmospheric effects" doesn't necessarily just mean weather. It could mean anything from that to adding echoes when in cave-like environments, enhanced background sounds, etc.

OT: PLENTLY, PLENTLY, PLENTLY, NEVER MENTION IT EVER AGAIN ON SPELLHOLD STUDIOS.
At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

I don't think we need to discuss the Imoen Romance further. Please keep this thread on topic.

Oh. Right, it was "atmospheric actions" I meant. These would be nice too.

Word of God (or at least from one of the Reddit board moderators) has confirmed that:

* SimDing0's Virtue mod will be intergrated.
* Wheels of Prophecy will be intergrated as well.
* They are mantaining the same style, but enhancing the paperdolls and charcater animations (I don't know if it's the David Walker BG1 ones, but I really hope they are)
At this point, I'm not really doing much Baldur's Gate related. More focused on Skyrim modding and the Born of Legend tabletop roleplaying game. Don't expect much activity here.

What...I never used the Virtue mod, didn't like the idea.

This is not what I was expecting, they should add fixes and that's it. Improve/add animations/sounds aswell, sure, but not such "features".

Meh, unless they do anything major with regards to graphics, I don't think this sounds anything more than a glorified mod; that too taking other people's hard work (no doubt with their permission, but still). I'll probably stick to my normal, fully moddable as I like, 'base' versions of BG1 & 2.

I wouldn't think things like the Virtue mod would be top of the list to be added in...Surely, SCS, banter packs etc are better - but see, here's the issue, these are my opinions, just like with the afore-mentioned mods, and others will not see them as integral in any way whatsoever.

Sorry to say, but I'm pretty skeptical about this for the moment, though I hope I'm proven wrong. If it breaks older mods, and some favourite ones, and let's say the modders don't/cannot "update" said mods to work with this new incarnation, then I won't be using BGEE.

Most likely, this is just to pave the way for BG3, which Trent has already stated as a long term goal. I doubt they would go out of their way to enure mod compatability when people can just switch to the standard, original installations.

I'm finding this sort of thing more and more dubious. Both of those mods are for BG2/ToB, not BG1. They hardly belong in a discussion of BGEE.

Hell, isn't WoP end-of-ToB for that matter? It's sure as sure not BG1(EE or not) material...

Well, Virtue can work on BG1 with lots of fixes/tweaks, and Wheels is going to be held off until BG2EE.

Rumors, heresy, lies, half truths and make believing. The only facts I will take in is from Trent's Twitter and the BG website. Anything else is nothing.
Her lips were red, her looks were free
Her locks were as yellow as gold
Her skin was white as leprosy.
The Nightmare Life-in-Death was she,
Who thicks man's blood with cold.

Speaking of Trent's word, here's a quote from the Beamdog forums:

Background-wise, we had hoped to get the source artwork from Bioware, but they were unable to locate the source art assets for characters or backgrounds. They communicated the assets may have been forever lost.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need several minutes to mourn the loss of Daniel Walker's work.

EDIT: source (scroll down the page, it's the last post).
