I like to read the fixes thread now and again... and lolloriian seems to do a whole lot of work (Thanks by the way  )

But how do you use the fixes that are zipped up from time to time?

Are they for players to fix problems in a game?

Or are they just for modders to nose at?

Any links or info gladly recieved! :)

Hi,

Most of the time, they are made to be used "as is" by the BWPFixPack...
"Advanced players" could probably use them : AFAIK, most of the time, these fix are either "a file" you have to replace in a particular mod BEFORE installing the mod or a "diff" between the buggy file and the correct one.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Fouinto... So for people who know what there are doing...

Hmmmm...

Not in that category of people even when boiling an egg!

Nice to know. Thank you again. :)

Is it me or is the forum boards background becoming more yellower with age... definately becoming more easy on the eye...

The problem with the fixes stuff is how the BWPFixpack applies its stuff :P
- BWPFixpack patches text-based files (tp2, baf, d etc)
- BWPFixpack overwrites everything else
- Fixpack thread's fixes are to be ONLY overwritten :D I make sure to get the folder structure right so you can directly extract them into BGII-SoA and they'll overwrite the correct file

This doesn't cause problems if you extract the thread's fixes BEFORE the BWP starts usually ... but shit happens when the BWPFixpack contains a patch/overwrites an already fixed file from the thread

So the ideal place to overwrite your BGII-SoA with the thread's fixes would be after the BWPFixpack is done doing its stuff :D

Here's what you can do to make this a whole lot easier :P
- Open the BWPInstall.bat using a text editor
- Search for this line:
%IFN% BWP_Fixpack.installed CALL "%BWFP%.bat"
- Add this after that line (hit enter and type )
pause
- So when you run the install.bat after this edit, it'll show you the "Press any key to continue " message once the BWPFixpack is applied. So you can make any personal fixes/overwrite from the thread as you want :coolthumb:

OK sorry for hyijacking this thread, but I have major issues getting BIG WORLD to run .

Is it right to install the fixback BEFORE I start the installer?and what about trimpack etc... (although the readme says so I want to make absolutely sure this is right! Thank you in advance!

The readme (which I think you mean the BWPGuide PDF :P) contains instructions for manual installation of the mods :D

Automated installation by running the BWPInstall.bat does the fixpack trimpack stuff without you doing much once it starts :P

I meant the Fixpack readme! (It said : first unpack then install fixpack then install the mods, but it probably only meant this in connection with other mods, not BWP. Ok so I will only klick install.bat! Thanks!
