I d/loaded the latest version of DSotSC from this site.
I used an extraction program and extracted files to my game folder,
but when I dbl click on the setup file I get the following error:
Unable to find dialog.tlk in dialog.tlk
Please run this program in your Infinity engine game directory.

I am using easytutu and have both BG1 and BG2 installed.
I also have the BG1ub mod installed from the Gibberlings 3 site.

So can anybody enlighten me on what is going wrong and how to correct it.

Thanks
Big K

This version of DSotSC is only compatible with BGT - as stated in the readme - and not with easytutu.

There is a tutu conversion in the works, but the latest post is from 2009. Maybe ask over at the boards for the BG1 version of DSotSC if the tutu code was included - I haven't read any indication that it is.

Thanks for the reply. I did read the readme file, but i skimmed over it.
Next time I will read closer.

I cant seem to find a readme file for the mod, "Check the Bodies",
but since I am getting the same error I assume its not set with tutu either.

again, thanks for the reply.

Check the Bodies only adds content in the BG2 part, and as (easy)tutu only concerns BG1 there's no compatibility.

Hi,

After many years I decided to come back to old good BGT. I spent few days on searching mods (why moders dont put all mods or at least links in one place or let people do some ready-to-use big downloads I cannot undestand). I made BiG World Project (BWP) and got the message that DSotSC had been not installed.

Now Im trying to install DSotSC again "from the finger" but i keep getting the following message:

"ERROR: Failure("Required binaries missing for your architecture. Please put tisunpack and oggdec into your system path and install again with \"system-path\" argument.")

PLEASE upload the file SETUP-DSOTSC.DEBUG on this forum:  http://www.shsforums...202-dsotsc-bgt/
Using Language [English]
[English] has 2 top-level TRA files
[DSotSC/Language/english/prompt.tra] has 39 translation strings
[DSotSC/Language/english/setup.tra] has 861 translation strings"

In the readme I found this:

"You can force the installer to look for the needed binaries (ie, oggdec and tisunpack) inside the system path by adding the following option to the command: --args system-path

The use of binaries from the system path will be required in case for any reason any file inside the dsotsc folder can't be made executable (eg, the dsotsc folder resides on a FAT or NTFS partition)."

But aforementioned is about linux, while I use windows 10. But one thing is common. I have just checked and for my supprise I have NTFS. Now I read in internet that this is default system for modern computers. I think Im getting old :)

Is it a reason? I have installed sooooo many mods today and this is the only one that spoil my good mood... But I really do like DsotSC :)

Does anyone know what is it and how to overcome the problem? My knowladge in this kind of field is miserable.

  • Why only DSotSC?
  • How to put tisunpack (what is it?) and oggdec (music dec for ogg files?) into my system path? Is it really necessary? Is this about regedit?
  • Will it run after that in BWP installation? The mods installation order is important and I would like to avoid DSotSC installation after all is done by great (but unfortunatelly GUI less and fragile = unperspicacious-resistant like me) BWP.

Please, if anyone can help?

Thx

Starting a help-me thread with this statement is not such a good idea.

As for DSotSC, I would advice to switch to k4thos remastered version, it has some bugs but it is still better than what is currently on the download's page here at SHS: https://github.com/K4thos/DSotSC

Hi,
After many
This has to do with the mods code being out of date with the current implementation of weidu functions as it doesn't use the oggdec or tisunpack any more, but just HANDLE function that's in the .exe itself carries.
The files are tileset extractor(.tiz ->.tis) and .ogg extractor(makes files into .wav's that the game can use)... they were found in the weidu distributed file, along with the .exe... but it's no longer supported by the current establisment, so that's no longer the case.

I have a copy of the old files...

OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
