I am having a problem with screen resolution. The screen is squished unless I turn on windowed mode. I am trying to get my resolution to 1680 x 1050, and I'm asuming the problem can be solved with the baldur.ini file. I am marking settings that I have changed.

Here is my current settings:

Hi,

AFAIK, widescreen mod (the mod allowing to play in resolution greater than 1024x768) has nothing to do with baldur.ini.

For example, My baldur.ini file shows 800x600 but I play in 1920x1200.

Hope this helps.

Screen Position X=1680 <---- Changed
Screen Position Y=1050 <---- Changed

That's the actual position the original XxY screen is set to start... so you want to make it less than the maximum. X=313 and Y=141 or something... But you need to really do this with the Setup-widescreen.exe, and/or with the BiG World Install.bat's inputs, and not after the BWInstall...

I ran the widescreen setup, and I discovered the problem is that my computer will not display 1280 x 800 resolution since I reinstalled Vista. I have found that 1280 x 800 is the best res to play in. Do you have any ideas of what to do, or is the problem now beyond this particular forum?

I do not know if this will help you. I do not use the widescreen mod for changing the game resolution. I use the BGII - ToB configure program.

Through trial and error, I found that if my normal computer screen resolution (when not playing BGT) is not the same as the BGT game resolution, I have screen resolution problems when playing the game. If both are the same, everything is OK. I use 1024 x 768.

Updating your computers drivers should help. Especially the video drivers, as that need to be the either ATI's or NVidia's... unless you have an integrated card, but whatever...

Through trial and error... I use 1024 x 768.

I think it was more like trying and failing, asking and realizing... as the 1024x768 is the only of the "unsupported resolution" that actually works without Crashes to Desktop ... in the game without the widescreen mod, as the equipping of a two handed sword is a well known failure it the other unsupported resolutions.

Ok, I figured it out. The following works with a Nvidia card. Using the latest drivers you go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Display -> Adjust Desktop size and postition -> 2. Apply the following settings -> Change the aspect ratio option into fullscreen.

I still have one problem though. The edge of the screen on the right cuts off 1/3 of the NPC portraits. I tried changing the X and Y as suggested, but I still have the same problem. Is there another setting that I can change?

thanks
