I recently bought both the entire BG series specifically to play the trilogy with Big World. I am trying to turn them into a trilogy and add as much non-munchkin content as possible. It appears as though BWS is now out of date and that this community is saying to manually install the mods that you want. Is that the only way to get the content? I would rather avoid installing 400 mods by hand if that is possible. Is the following idea going to work:

Run BWS. Get as much content as possible from it. Then install the missing mods by hand. Finally run BWI and let it clean up the install. Is this "close enough" or am I just going to wind up with an unplayable mess? Also, is there any fix on the horizon? I can put off playing the trilogy for 6 months if the community has something up their sleeve.

Right now BWS is reporting that the following mods are missing:

BG2 Fixpack
Item Revisions
Baldur's Gate Trilogy
BG1 Mini Quests and Encounters
Gavin NPC
Amber NPC (SoA)
Kivan and Deheriana Companions
Auren Aseph NPC
Sarah NPC
Angelo NPC
Haldamir NPC
Gavin NPC for BG2
Spell Revisions
Sword Coast Stratagems
Alternatives
Crossmod Banter Pack (BG2)
Sword Coast Stratagems II
BG2 Tweak Pack
IA Content - Miscellaneous NWN Animations I
Level 1 NPCs

I appreciate any help that you can provide as well as the huge amount of content that this community has created. As a fan of huge mod-packs and total conversions I was pretty sad to see BWS die off.

Yes !
Why, cause the BiG World Install.bat is meant to be run first before you install any mods !!! You need to extract the mods to the game folder, and that's it... and then run the said .bat file.

So I was able to get the files from BWS. Then I ran BWI and it hung part way through. It also got quite a few error messages, specifically around Big World Fixpack. Now BG won't launch.

Anyone have an idea about how to diagnose / fix this?

Debug log attached.

Looks like you tried to run the Big World install on an already modded game. You need to run it on a fresh install with official patch, etc... As mentionned here and in first few pages of the Big World readme pdf.

Hi farmerjohn.

See my last post. I had problems for the past four weeks with BWP installations. The reason was an old WeiDU.exe file. Now this may not be your problem, but right now I am having no problems with my mega-mod installation. I am using the latest mod versions, the latest BWP versions and the latest WeiDU.exe version. This works without error on all mods I selected.

One thing to check is that your mods are properly extracted into your ...\BGII - SoA\ folder. You need the mod folder, the setup-{mod name}.exe and may need the setup-{mod name}.tp2 files. Some mods do not extract this directly to the ...\BGII - SoA\ folder.

In the BiG World Install.bat v10.3.3, there is a problem with Gavin if it is not a selected mod. I do not know what happens if Gavin is added to your game.
