Install 'it' without core? What is it?
Does your install work without any mods at all?

Without any mods? I dont know. Before I started the Big World Project everything was ok - well there were no mods. But after that I get this Chitin.cpp errormessage. I googeld for it and now I know thats because of the Tobex. And now Im here and asking what to do ^^

Um... I don't think so. If your game doesn't start, then TobEx won't help you with that.
It actually looks like you don't have a dialog.tlk in your game directory. Either that, or it is corrupt, which necessitates a re-install. I would suggest going to the Mega Mod Help forums if you need further help with getting a Big World Project game working.

I am having the same problem ToBEx Core can't be installed. I am using a new, clean, working installation of BG2+ToB, patch 2.5.26498 (Polish language).

Here is my error message:

I'll need to see your bgmain.exe. Can you upload it somewhere? All the 26498 exe should be the same. However, I don't want to simply allow install and check CRC/MD5/whatever because other mods can modify the EXE.

Ah, it looks like you are using the Throne of Bhaal 26499 BETA patch. Don't... :) Go back to 26498.

This is very, very odd - in my options screen, the patch number was 26498. I installed from a DVD edition initially, but ended up having to reinstall from an old CD version. At least everything is working now. Thanks for your help!

Is there any way to disable bytes chceck ? And if I may ask - Is it crucial ? I got 26498 with BGT installed and cannot install TobEx for the very same reason as Eli Coronali .

"ERROR: [bgmain.exe] -> [bgmain.exe] Patching Failed (COPY) (Failure("TobEx EXE p atch: Target bytes don't match, aborting..."))"

I've got the "BG Saga" DVD version of the game (1 DVD) that comes already patched up to 26498 TOB and works without the need for the DVD in the DVD drive (which may be -or maybe not-) the reason for the bytes not matching the original CD version of ToB expansion bgmain.exe. Can anyone help me ?

Thanks

Well, if I were you, I would copy paste the whole game folder to another directory, then uninstall the game, remove the folder left and reinstall it from scratch to the same folder, install the ToB patch 26498 not the 99, and then ToBEx, then the G3 BG2Fixpack and then BGT-weidu and any other mods you have installed, non-CD hacks etc... and if it all works, then remove the copy of the original game directory, if it doesn't, you can go back into using the old game folder by deleting(do not uninstall it!) the current and cut pasting the old folder back to where it was.

The Byte match is kinda essencial as it avoids damaging non compatible files. Like say every other game you have installed on your computer...

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

One other way is to take the 26498 executable file form the ToB 26498 patch, which is still widely available.

And what... then excecute the XP patch to it again from the old and decrapped non weidu version of the BGT... yeah. it's better to actually fix the whole thing and not just a part and create a totally new game from reinstall(after removing the install folder and the installed mods files)... so he can use the GUI mod, the Widescreen mod etc. too.

The 26498 executable on a vanilla install should be used as the starting point for installing mods.

If the guest has already installed a huge number of mods, then re-installing from scratch is painful, sure, but to directly answer the question - no, I am not going to remove the bytes check from the TobEx installation.
