A quote from .pdf

BGT-WeiDU supports NEJ only partially. The entire compatibility is reached only by the installation of the BGTNeJ2
Compatibility Modification v1 after BGT-WeiDU!

Its the reason for my confusion.

But I have had rock on advice from 10th and Jarno

That quote is not covering the whole deal though... as seen from here, the NEJBGT fix needs a fix of it's own. And it talks about the v1.... while the current version is v1.2 !!!

Okay... Good and Bad news...

The install worked. Yay!

The install bat did not recognise some of the mods extracted... as they were old mods!

I edited the install bat... and it worked!

I tapped for a tactic install... when I had couple of expert mods... they didn't install...

Old mods WILL work if when extracted they have no change to their name. But you need to edit the install bat (I thinkk!!!!) to make old mods with a name change to there setup-tp2 file thingy (usually just the version number slapped on the back) appear when the mods are searched for by the install bat.

Anyway. Undetterred. Boo will eat eyeballs soon, and Evil butts will be rightously kicked! :woot:

Going to do an expert install this time :whistling: , extracting using the link Jarno gave at the beginning of this thread.

This means giving up using BWS :crying:

Don't cry.

It works like this: download all mods you want.

open explorer and sort by type.

Mass Extract all of those that are not exe (rar, 7z, zip) OR winrar exe into the game folder with winrar, except the infinity animations packages.

Be careful because some mod authors for some godforsaken reason like to doubly zip or double rar, or put a additional folder, so when you extract you might get a few other compressed files or a useless folder in the root of SoA.

The rest of the exe files need to be installed manually (for no good reason, if you try to extract them with winrar, it can't be used by the BWP bat file because their custom compressor does some file rename&moving and is incompatible without that). Extract into the game path (copy&paste if you haven't got the registry entry). They try to start the weidu setup after extracting - close this.

Infinity animations is a special case: you can't just unzip it into SoA (again, for no good reason). READ THE README OF INFINITY ANIMATIONS.

When you think you've got everything start the bat file.

Pay special attention to the list of "not installed" mods. If you find one you thought you had prepared there, you're doing it wrong for that one. Close the cmd prompt and check out the game folder for something fishy about that mod.

If the exe mods could have a simple compressed file version instead of exe, no mods double "compressing", and IA was using standard paths, things would be much simpler.

winrar-> mass select -> mass extract -> done.

You can mass extract...

Best info on what to do post-BWS yet.

Thanks for bringing that up i30817, I have a small question about this matter:

Would it work if I unpacked the exe files to some folder and then compressed these files into 1 archive?

I have already repackaged all of IAs, the double-zip/rar ones, extracted the exe files contained in archives (seriously?) into 1 huge folder. Ultimately I'd have a folder full of archives where I could just pick which ones I want for an install and mass extract them.

Also my latest setup didn't install a few mods (4 iirc, 2 I can remember being Khalid and NoGameOver) for an un unknown reason, any idea how I could check what the problem was?

Why don't you use the Batch from the BiG World Installpacks Additional Tools-folder to extract the files?
Also has a simple backup/restore-feature.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

Yep, but i'm not sure about the exes - since they could do something else than just extract, like modifying the game ids files. This would be dumb, but you never know.

They are both new and not in the bat file currently IIRC. You can add them manually, but need to figure out the optimal position yourself. IIRC, nogameover needs to be after all mods that add areas and needs tobex.

The more you know... works for the edge cases like IA and exes inside zips? What command line tools are needed?

Never used it, but from reading the batch it looks like it just needs 7z(ip) and works with "special cases".
I just asked since it's in there for some years and I'd guess it's better than doing manual labor.

Well the BWS autoit thingy doesn't seem to work on my computer and the cases i30817 mentionned (folder into archive / exe into archive / etc..) make it no so optimal.

Add to this having to rename the ones that can be extracted correctly because the BWS is outdated with newer versions of mods... Unless the BWS gets updated I'm not really gonna use it.

Will try a small install with a few repacked exes (different kinds: G3's/Baldurdash/whatever) and see how it works.

The manual work could mostly go away if the mods themselves had their archives updated.

I know, small chance. Especially for the pocketplane exes and Ding0 mods (that are the worst since they absolutely require you to click them because they can't be extracted reliably).

BTW, i just tested it, and it seems winrar and 7z might be able to extract G3 execs. The exceptions seem to be whatever pocketplane and ding0/npcflirt use.

@Beleg33: The Batch is included in the BiG World Installpack and is not related to the BWS.
The data of the BWS is outdated since I don't want to keep track of it and never intended to do so.
Some guys at the Kerzenburg try to build a webfrontend to create/update that data. Will take some time.
Export with existing data works, but it's the data form 9.10.

7z should be able to handle NSIS-packages -- the Batch moves those files around if the output is not in the folder that it should be.
I used to run the files since some files were missing at some point. Could work though, guess it does if Leonardo includes the files in the package.
THINK! - It's not illegal.

i.e Do I need to download Aurora patch or Gavin Hotfix patch?

Now extractin...

Other top advice is always welcome!

Does Infinity Animations need special treatment?

Important: Download all content you may require from the Infinity Animations download category at Spellhold Studios. If in doubt, download them all (most megamod installs will need all archives). Extract all archives using the "Do not extract paths" option on the Advanced tab in WinRAR. Also, make sure the "Destination path" on the General tab terminates in /content or /restore after infinityanimations (there should be no subfolders beyond that).

For WinZip, make sure the "Use folder names" box is unselected. You should end up with a bunch of .bam files and no subfolders in your "content" and/or "restore" folders. The installer will warn you if you're missing anything you need, at which point you can exit it, download missing content, extract it and rerun the installer.

Windows
Extract the contents of the mod to the folder of the game you wish to modify (BG2, BGT or EasyTutu). On successful extraction, there should be an infinityanimations folder and a setup-infinityanimations.exe file in your game folder. To install, simply double-click setup-infinityanimations.exe and follow the instructions on screen.

Run setup-infinityanimations.exe in your game folder to reinstall, uninstall or otherwise change components

I use 7z... The read me says to extract to the BG2 folder?

Is this now incorrect?

Answered my own question... THE BIG WORLD PDF HAS ALL THE ANSWERS!

I quote...

25.9.1. Copy the folder infinityanimations and the file Setup-infinityanimations.exe into your main SoA
directory.
25.9.2. Unpack only the following archive into the ?\BGII - SoA\infinityanimations\restore folder by choosing
the option "No pathnames" with 7-Zip and delete afterwards the empty subfolders:
IA Content: BG2 Restores v2
25.9.3. Unpack the following archives into the ?\BGII - SoA\infinityanimations\content folder by choosing
the option "No pathnames" with 7-Zip and delete afterwards the empty subfolders:
IA Content 001: Base content v5
IA Content 002: IWDII and unused BGII animations v4
IA Content: Fiends and Genies v6
IA Content: IWD Belhifet and Marilith v2
IA Content: IWD Svirfneblin
IA Content: Miscellaneous NWN Animations I v2
IA Content: Moinesse's Avatar Edits (IA compatible version)
IA Content: PST Abishai v2
IA Content: PST Paletted Animations v2
IA Content: Remaining IWD Animations v3
IA Content: Shadows, Harpy, and Frost Giant v2
IA Content: White Wyvern & Dragon, Lady of Pain v2
IA Content: WoRm's NWN ports & Alternate Modron v3

Any last advice before running the install.bat?

Any answers to this?

If I have a thief/mage/fighter multiclass... should I lower the effects of defjam to 75%? (I would secretly like a lvl50/50/50 character...)

Definitely not. Unless you solo, that in retrospect, i never did when multiclassed even when i went determined to do so.

In fact, you want to increase the exp if you're building a team of multiclassed chars.

Basically, you're going to be level 19 or so in Watcher's keep on a bg game with a team and a multiclass. Not very comfortable. Probably with a Megamod you'll be higher, but not extremely so unless you install things like vecna.

Cool. So Defjam not good for multiclass characters...

Well people who want ridiculously high multiclass characters

My style of play is a bit "throw away" with npcs. I hire and fire em when I complete there quest or I just get bored and wanna try somebody else.

Minsc and Imoen are my only real keepers... NPC wise.

No Edwin? :crying: (your playstyle is similar to mine though :D even the class I choose :coolthumb:)

Do I need to download Aurora patch or Gavin Hotfix patch?

Nope :) All inside the BWPFixpack (if I'm seeing right )

Re: DEFJAM
I'd recommend whatever the BWP installs depending on your selection of megamods :D If you find it too low though - you just activate your Bhaalspawn powers (aka CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP(XXXX))

Lollorian!

I like Edwin... He usually goes off in a huff when I refuse to kill Dynahier, then he gets really huffy and puffy when I betray him to that bounty hunter... :D

Not sure Minsc likes him either... Or Boo...

ANYWAYS Back to topic.

This...

just activate your Bhaalspawn powers (aka CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP(XXXX))

One big FAIL!

It all went wrong :crying:

Some of the setup-files could not be found... such as bons bruce, paladins of faerun and Auror... BUT they are there in my BG:SoA folder.

It did not find the text patch... Does that need unpacking somewhere special?

It did not find infinity animations... AND I AM SURE I DID THAT RIGHT! (...however human error much more likely  )

And worst of all CtB did not install :crying:

It finally gave up the ghost on lvl 1 npcs near the end and stopped trying to sort out the weapon proficiences...

I am uplaoding the CtB, Vecna and Infinity Animation debugs. Just in case I am doing something stupid.

But, again! Blessings in disguise 10.3 has been released! Yay!

Download is hardest bit. Unpacking is easy with mass extractin.

EDIT: Forgot my WeiDU Voodoo log.
