shield of baldurian.
poor bastards kills themself firing at you.

lol any AI-enhancing mod makes beholders cast regular spells at you(harm, chain lighting, finger of death, and a ton of others) if you are wearing the shield instead of killing themselves with rays. indeed the shield helps not to die in one round, but without being properly prepared you will surely die in about two.

of course they do kill themselves if you dont have any AI-enhancing mods, but without those baldur's gate is just way too easy anyway

umm.. spell deflection? it will absorb total amount of 10 spell levels, it means like 2 fingers of death. beholders fire about 10 spells per round with their rays, so you will be dead like 5 times.

even if we forget about the fact that the cloak does not protect you against instant-death spells(and there are plenty of such rays), the cloak was removed in big world project mod set, being apparently overpowered.

i am not talking about mods here. because they are optional. some play them, some dont.
if you want to talk about BG as a game then talk about BG as a game in its core. I havent played the mods you played and i dont know what features it has.
there are many mods that totaly changes the balance of the game and tactics and the game itself. if we are about to disscus fighting Beholders when having all that mods in mind... then i pass. there is just too many of them.
