Interesting question, considering that G3 is down... :blink: Whoever might have some feelings of responsibility for the BG2Fixpack, I guess.

Ergh, Suslik was talking about the BiG World Fixpack, not BGII fixpack, as it has nothing to do with this...

Being the person who has coded the fix, I can assure you that it is not technically possible to enable compatibility with mods installed afterwards, if they mess with spell protection removals, period.

Thus it really is a bad idea to include the fix into BG2Fixpack, considering the latter's design concept.

A small bump to the thread. In which way was "spell shield" fixed? Can that fix be applied to any other spell protections? If it requires .exe editing, can I manually edit it with a hex editor(i mean is it possible to find the hunk responsible for it and fix manually)?

It uses a new custom secondary type, and protection removal spells are changed to dispel that sectype (like Breach removes all combat and specific protections). In vanilla Spell Shield is depletable (one level only) like Spell Turning/Deflection.

This solution can't be applied to turning/deflection, because they need to remain depletable.

All questions and requests about exe editing should be addressed to Ascension64 in ToBEx forum. The existing Spell Shield fix, as it was first suggested by Demivrgvs, doesn't touch the exe.

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds totally reasonable about dispelling a specific buff instead of using depletable system.

Oh oh, and if someone was fixing spell shield, does it mean that i am not the only one who is investigating the bug about all spell protections? That would really be a relief, because if no one cares for the problem, no one would care for fixing it. But if i am not the only one, can you please pinpoint me where the problem was already discussed?
