Hello everyone. After several years away, I've come back to the world of Baldur's Gate, and I'm delighted to see that there's still a community creating additional content, and especially impressed by the new BiG World project.

After a few days of collecting stuff and installing, I started to play this morning.

I've installed the 'tactics' version, with the addition of the NeJ files as outlined in the PDF, and the deletion of a few files that couldn't be found (Legion of Hell, for instance, and one or two of the npc mods).

I got through Candlekeep just fine, but the game hangs when I leave with Gorion. Any suggestions?

Sorry to say but you'll want to reinstall to the "Recommended" version, and even THEN, with certain options changed.

For example the NEJ mod adds custom classes for Imoen and a few other NPCs, well that causes a hang during transition to BG2.

The Jondalarfix-mod which is part of the Recommended install, messes up Jondalar's speech in Candlekeep, so you want to remove that mod in the batch file, before you actually install anything.

Then in the BGTTweaks mod, options 2400,2500,2600 cause areas like Ulgoth's beard and Durlag's tower to be inaccessible from their regular locations.

The modified wolves/dogs mod causes the "talking chicken" quest around High Hedge to break, because the wolf no longer spawns and you have to CLUAConsole him in and the same goes for Jonell, who is part of the 3 NPC group in SW of Bluebell Wood whom you need to kill to get his medallion for a quest. I ended up loading him in as well.

Everything else is stable.

See the attached Weidu log and my modified batch file (just rename it from .txt to .bat at the end, else it won't let me post it). This is after 5 reinstalls. Everything is running good with my options and I even added stuff like large ammo capacity 160 per stack and the mule pack, and I added widescreen, which are good and stable. Widescreen did make everything a little small (i run at 1680x1050) but nice and sharp.

NEJ is the biggest problem you'll have.

In the future, I plan to selectively add mods which I'll check beforehand, like SoU and a few others.

Good luck and read the my other posts here, to see what I went through during the past week. Hopefully it'll save a few newbies a LOT of time and hair pulling.

But BGT is WELL worth it. Played it only once 10 years ago and just now I realize what a masterpiece it is. Nothing like it around!

Does it always hang when you want to leave with Gorion? Did you try to leave later by resting in the inn and then trying it again?

Yes that's exactly it. The charming rogue kit will will break the transition to BG2. Jarno confirmed it and I reinstalled because of that.

Chancing the kit won't help, as the damage is in the aram00.bcs file the BGTNEJ2 v1.1 mod component changes. The easy fix is to just copy the file in question from the BGTNEJ2/backup/0/ folder to the override folder, or use the files the above thread links links to...

So once I find that file and replace the old one, Imoen should go back to her original kit, right? I won't have to reinstall or anything?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Have been working on a reinstall. Am hung up, as the installer isn't seeing the 25Movies.bif file in CD5\Movies. Replaced with a fresh copy from the disc, changed the line of code referenced elsewhere from "error" to "hint," but nothing's working so far.

Yes, you go here, download the file and follow the instructions in the post. And no, Imoen shouldn't loose her kit.

What does the [Alias] section in the baldur.ini look like ?
Sorry for taking a lot of space in your thread.

Hey, no problem at all, Jarno, welcome the input :)

As for the alias section, it's:

CD5:=C:\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\CD5\

I checked to make sure the backslash was in place....

Continuing to backtrack to square one and start over, in the hopes that trying again will fix the issue. Alas, it seems like I run into trouble earlier each time! Now, the installation has just gone through unpacking all the files--some I've had to extract from their download format manually--and it crashes right at the end of that process.

Right now the left hand box contains the following:

Everything is Ok

Folders: 27
Files: 257
Size: 26991752
Compressed: 26405656

C:\Black Isle\BiG World\BiG World Setup>
cd /D "C:\\Black Isle\BiG World"

C:\Black Isle\BiG World>
Error during changing into directory C:\\Black Isle\BiG World.
Exiting due to major problems.

I'm guessing the issue is that double backslash after the "C", but not sure what's causing it or where it's coming from.

Idk, did you maybe accidentally type that as the directory where BG1 was when you told BWS where it actually was?
