And finally,
Is this fix needed? (descrip says it is if IA is used with Angelo)

Yes if you want to install Angelo NPC with IA. See topic here.

Awesome! :coolthumb: Thanks for the link!

Though it would seem that the download is unnecessary because the BWPFixpack (v10.0.1 atleast :P) includes the fix Miloch proposes

Well playing BWP takes alot of time. I've playing this BWP from april (about 6 months) almost daily (several hours each day). I'm at Suldanessellar so long way to go to Throne of Bhaal.

Then i'm re-installing and starts at Candlekeep again.

Nice life.

A standard installation with some tactic-mods and without big mods (takes too long and still many bugs, I think) is really worth the time.
@Lollorian: If you finally decide to play it, make a Let's Play and upload it at youtube, so that we can all see it... :P

So you don't use BWP? Which mods do you use? I've been trying to figure out what to use myself. I received some errors during the BWP download which caused me to hold off playing for now. I don't understand enough about what the install is doing so if the recommended install has errors, that seeemed concerning.

Here are the errors I received, the first one sounds the most concerning to me:

These selected downloads are defect:

Ajantis BG1 Expansion 4
Tales of Anegh 2.2
Adalon's Blood - Silberdrachenblut 10
IA Content - Miscellaneous NWN Animations I 2
BGT NPC Portraits 1.9
Finished.

The following mod(s) could not be downloaded:
Ajantis BG1 Expansion 4: The Mod itself (AjantisBG1-v4.zip)
IA Content - Miscellaneous NWN Animations I 2: The Mod itself (NWN_Misc_I.rar)
BGT NPC Portraits 1.9: The Mod itself (NPC_PORTAITS__V1.9.rar)

I located AjantisBG1-v4.zip (I think the name had an underscore instead of a dash) and NWN_Misc_I.rar. I could not fund the last file but did find NSC_PORTRAITS_V2.1.ZIP. Not sure if it's a later version but I noticed the first three characters are different. To a newbie, this is all a bit confusing and I don't know that it's all necessary to enjoy the game.

I agree with Fennek, and imo the BWP can bog you down in poorly executed large mods (not giving any names here...) and far far too many NPCs / romance.

For a challenging BGT game that still _feels_ like Baldur's gate, I put together this install. I'm playing it now and really enjoying it- next to no bugs and crucially (for me) not much in the way of core game mechanics being changed (randomiser and spell revisions being probably the two biggest).

Spoiler

I use my own custom .bat file, if anyone is interested I'll upload it.

I once had a game that spanned the friggin epic entirety of *drumroll* woot* - BGI!!! <_< I got to SoA and Chateau Irenicus was so extreme... the jump in difficulty stopped me from playing :P

A standard installation with some tactic-mods and without big mods (takes too long and still many bugs, I think) is really worth the time. @Lollorian: If you finally decide to play it, make a Let's Play and upload it at youtube, so that we can all see it... :P

I dunno lol - I used to have a pretty good setup with all the big mods, quest mods, a few tweaks I like, a small dash of NPC stuff - basically stuff that ensured minimal gameplay changes but added TONS of content :woot: Played pretty cool in the 2-3 mins I ran it to test stuff

The problem is I have to build that again from scratch now :crying:... and with Diablo III and Skyrim coming up - I dunno lol :ermm:

I received some errors during the BWP download which caused me to hold off playing for now. I don't understand enough about what the install is doing so if the recommended install has errors, that seeemed concerning. Here are the errors I received, the first one sounds the most concerning to me:

If you're inclined to download the mods manually, I'd recommend bookmarking this link :D It's (kinda) more current than the BWS

I could not fund the last file but did find NSC_PORTRAITS_V2.1.ZIP. Not sure if it's a later version but I noticed the first three characters are different.

This is where the kinda currently updated part kicks in

BWS (the one the BWS wants) - Portraits v1.9
BWP Linkliste (the link I linked) - Portraits v2.0
Actually available latest version - Portraits v2.1

Btw, NSC = NPC in german ;) (who are the authors of that mod)

I'd be interested :coolthumb:

The only remnant of my old install is my heavily modded BWP 9.6.1 Install.bat - and looking at the massive overhaul the install.bat got in the following versions, I'd love to have me grubby li'l hands on an updated reference :D

ok, from WeiDU 09-27-11_BWP.bat
Spoiler

You should look at this code and make sure you have all the items it is trying to install. Unlike the BWP, if you're missing a file the only way you'll know is either looking at your weidu.log after the install is done, or catching it briefly in the command window. I've extracted all mods that want to install themselves for you (i'm looking at you, G3 auto-executing packages).

A few important notes:
  • To get Hard Times - Ulcaster School w/o the Hard times mod itself, you have to edit the .tp2. Just comment out the check for Hard Times (i.e. require_ something something). The mod doesn't use any resources from it, and that pre-requisite is just a bit of narcissism on the modder's part.
  • Infinity Animations- you need to download all the packages, and find the pack of missing animations to be added to your override folder post-install but pre-biff (that's why I include a pause at the end, before biffing).
  • The Kivan mod has some bugs, find my post in the fixpack thread where I upload a reasonably-fixed version.
  • Find the SCSII fixes floating around here / in the SCSII forum.
  • Use Worldmap v9 beta 6
  • To get the improved Mae'Var char, you need to unzip impmaevar.zip in the GBThfKp\_debug folder to that same folder.
  • A lot of mods are setup such that their install, unfortunately, requires manual input. I've gotten around this by all the 'type XXX.txt | setup-blah.exe' commands. TYPE filename.txt | will route the contents of filename.txt to the setup-blah.exe via pipes, '|'. I've zipped my _custom-game folder for you, but you'll probably want to look at these options (especially the widescreen resolution and level1npc changes. You can comment out (via 'rem') the level1npcs TYPE commands if you don't want any npcs stats changed. Fair warning, I'm a munchkin and I've played BG2 enough that I like to make power NPCs. All my NPC changes kept the original SUM TOTAL ability scores (STR / DEX etc) but definitely allocated them excel at whatever I set their class(es) to be.
  • Don't forget to set your Baldur's Gate 1 directory in the _custom-game\BGT.txt file.

Good luck, I hope you can take my legwork and get something out of it. Don't think this is just 'ready to go' tho, it will take some time to collect all the fixes floating around the forums and apply them before you run the install. I understand the idea behind the BWP installer- but having this level of control is ideal for tweakers like me.

Thanks for that agris! :D

@BWP peeps:
Exnem's Vault / Exnem Items MiniMOD 5 has been deprecated since BWPv9.5 - even the install.bat doesn't install it  Should it be linked in the BWP Linkliste? :o

Any details of it? BWP manual's syntax isn't exactly clear about it: either Exnem's Addon being deprecated because it's included in Exnem's Items, or Exnem's Addon is another name of Exnem's Items, which was deprecated. Anyway, why was it?

Exnem's Vault / Exnem Items MiniMOD 5 - They are the same mod :D

I'm sorry for not finding the actual threads about the actual problem but there was a lengthy discussion about Exnem and CtB, with peeps trying to fix it and stuff - it was later deprecated because the amount of effort needed to actually fix it was much greater than what the mod had (a few extra overpowered items :D)

From personal experience (and bad memory ) Exnem used to cause CtDs for me

Anyway, the BWPInstall.bat has the line that installs Exnem's commented out - line 1991 ;) So if it isn't being used by the BWP, should it be linked to in the linkliste?

I don't know about other people's problems with Exnem mod. I have used it for many years now and i haven't had any major problems with it.

Even though it's nowadays deprecated from BWP i'm going to use it in my future BWP installs.

I suggested some months ago that ALL mods should be put into the linklist at Kerzenburg, but that I would not be the person to do that... But I'll post it at Kerzenburg, maybe Xicloing or somebody else will do something.
(And these items were not only overpowered, but also changed normal items instead of introducing optional ones, what dorove many people who had not read the readme crazy...)

Exnem's Mod is in the link list, Leonardo probably has disabled it in the BWP batch for some reason.
