Hi folks,
I just went through the process of installing the Big World for BG1 & 2 and the expansions and when I run BG1TotSC it is not in the widescreen mode I selected of 1920 x 1080. I reran the widescreen setup exe file but this didn't change it.

When I tried to see if the widescreen mod was working in BG2 I get a brief glimps of a console window (attached pic), the screen goes to black and then I get the message below along with a close this program window.

I think I've messed it up somewhere - I thought I made the right choice to select Big World for both Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 but now I'm not sure.

Why might the widescreen mode not be working for BG 1 and what might be the cause of BG 2 crashing?

Um I totally missed this bit:

2. SPECIAL CASE WINDOWS VISTA
1 Open the Start menu and write into the seach field "cmd.exe"
2. Right-click on "cmd.exe" and select in the context menu "Administrator"
3. A command line window opens.
4. Write into the line C:\Windows\system32> behind the arrow the directory where you had installed
the megamod: cd "\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA" and press Enter.
5. Then write into the line C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA> behind the arrow "BiG
World Install v6.bat" (the version number could have also changed) and press Enter.
Now the installation starts normally as also under other Windows operating systems.
Please look at the introduction video: http://kerzenburg.ba...GT-Vista-en.htm

Was this a step I was supposed to take at some point?

Thanks :)

Read the pinned topics in the proper forum. And post there...

If it still unclear...

Why might the widescreen mode not be working for BG 1 and what might be the cause of BG 2 crashing?

The BWP is applied to the BG2 game directory, the BGT-Weidu uses the BG1 games files yes, but it copies them to the BG2 folder and remakes them to be playable in BG2 game... now then, did you even start both of the games before you installed any mods ?

SPECIAL CASE WINDOWS VISTA

What Operation System does your computer have ? And in my opinion the above is cheese.

Hi again and thanks for your help again,
sorry I should have looked at the pinned topics first and should I have posted this in the specific sub forum/topic for the widescreen mod as per the [Guidelines] topic? Given that I think my problem is more than the Widescreen mod I hope it is okay that I'm replying to you here.

I downloaded and followed the Big World v10 instruction pdf which I assumed contained all the directions.

Reading the Frequently&Fast Asked and Answered Questions for the Megamods though, I see it either didn't or my bad and I've missed where it said I should have installed Baldur's Gate(s)into a different directory than the default Program Files and that the game should be started via the 'ToBLauncher.exe' or the 'BGMain.exe' file.

I don't have UAC turned on, but I am using Vista Ultimate 32bit. so I think that could possibly be the cause of my problems? I did try starting the game via the 2 files mentioned above but it still crashes.

I did start each game and made a quicksave on each before I started the BW setup as per the Big World v10 pdf. Also I applied the two patches mentioned in the pdf but I didn't install Baldur's Gate; v1.1.4315, without the DirectX 8+ patch or the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn; 23037 patch as they weren't mentioned in the pdf.

At this stage I'm thinking the only course of action is to totally uninstall Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and reinstall them and the Big World setup again according to the instructions not just in the pdf but in the Frequently&Fast Asked and Answered Questions for the Megamods also?

Yes the problem is indeed in something larger than Widescreen mod, and had you noticed, the topic was moved... and it's your topic so you do with t as you like.

v1.1.4315... v23037 patch as they weren't mentioned in the pdf.

The patches are not needed as they are already in the add on packs(TotSC & ToB), the version numbers should implicate that.

Probably yes, but first, upload the BiG World Debug.txt in a .zip archive so we can take a look and see what vent off. The .zip archive takes 10-100 times less space, it's easier to upload and download etc. and nearly every computer can make and open a .zip file...

Thanks for your response. I'm afraid I was too impatient to wait and started over the entire installation again following the particular instructions and I chose the recommended version of BW; BW is now working, though I have a problem but I'm not sure if it is Big World related or not and it's not specific to any particular mod so I posted it in the IE General Help forum.
Regards
Damian.

If you have multiple mods installed and thus don't know where the problem comes from, then the bug thread should be in the Megamod Help forum, not in IE General Help, especially if you have BGT or any of the other big mods installed(TDD, SoS, RoT, CtB)...

And what you should do then, is read the small things like what I wrote on the 14.2 here. Making a thread might be a good idea, making one that can actually lead somewhere is better...
