Problem with NPC sounds and BGT

1. Installed BG1, custom install, selecting everything.
2. Installed ToSC, full install.
3. Patched to 5512.
4. Installed BG2, full install.
5. Installed ToB, full install.
6. Patched to 26498.
7. Installed BG2 Fixpack v9.
8. Installed Ascension 1.4.24.
9. Installed Turnabout v1.
10. Installed BGT 1.12.
11. Installed BG1NPC v18.
12. Installed BG1 UB v12.
13. Installed BG2 UB v19.
14. Installed BG1 Tweaks v3 (to BG1 folder).
15. Installed BG2 Tweaks v9.
16. Installed Widescreen 3.05.
Everything seems to be working fine except for some sound issues. For one thing, the music seems to play only sporadically. I've tried various options in Setup-BGTMusic.exe, and I can't tell if it's making a difference or not.
My main issue is that NPC sounds don't play consistently. For example, when an NPC triggers and wants to talk to you, it'll usually play a sound ("Heya, it's me, Imoen." "I've a blade with your name on it." etc...). An easy way to tell is in the beginning in Candlekeep, the priests of Oghma are just standing there silently, where they should be singing about the prophecies of the wise Alaundo. If I click on them, it'll play the sound, but they don't seem to do it on their own, and other NPCs don't play theirs either, making it easy to miss the queue when someone wants to run up and talk to you.
Environmental audio is not enabled (grayed out in fact). I've messed with various sliders and audio settings in game, but nothing seems to help. Please advise - maybe some of the mods are redundant or are stepping on another one?

Did you start a completly new game after you had finished installing all the mods... as the saved files won't be usable. For example...
I wouldn't advice this, as the Fixpack and Ascension mod has some well known bugs when installed together. I would use the BP-Ascension component from the BPv180b.8. Installed Ascension 1.4.24.
9. Installed Turnabout v1.
That could be the cause... as the BG1 files should be unmodified if you intent to use the BGT-WeiDU on them.14. Installed BG1 Tweaks v3 (to BG1 folder).

Thanks for the quick reply! Think I can just uninstall the bg1 tweaks and start anew? Are there any other mods you recommend?

Did a reinstall without BG1 tweaks, and using the BPv180b, and everything seems to be working. Thanks again!
Actually I take it back. I'm still having the same problem. I thought it was fixed because one of the priests of Oghma sang his song, but the NPC sound triggers still aren't working. In fact, I blew it all away, did a clean install of BG1 and BG2 + expansions packs and official patches, and then installed only BGT 1.12, and it's still doing it. Seems to be a bug in BGT 1.12 as far as I can tell.

What kinda sound setup do you have ?...
The game supports only the stereo 2.0 output, and the others have had similar problems as yours without switching back to 2.0 ...
If that doesn't help, open up the baldur.ini file and copy paste the text in these:

Anyway, I just have an onboard Realtek sound card (just 2.0 stereo) that works great in everything else. I actually don't think it's my sound card. If I load up the vanilla BG1, I hear all the sounds as normal. In fact, in BGT they still sound normal *when they play* but like I said, the only thing that doesn't seem to be working is NPC's playing their sounds unless I click on them.

It's in a code box... to show how it's done... so you can copy paste it directly... when the code box is removed, the result is this:I don't think your spoiler text came through correctly, unless I'm reading it wrong.
Erhm, what exactly do you mean by that... the game has feedback options that make them respond to the orders you give everytime-nearly_every_time-nearly_never-never ... or some combination of that.the only thing that doesn't seem to be working is NPC's playing their sounds unless I click on them.
