Hello.

When I run the BiG world install program everything installs fine up until BGT. But after BGT almost every mod fails to install. Many error messages say that I don´t have BGT installed (which reported that it was sucesfully installed) and that I don´t have ToB (Which I do) and that they can´t find files.

Is it possible that previous mods deleted or overwrote files?

Setings

Windows7
BG1 installed in C:\Users\Jeff\Desktop\BG1
BG2 installed in C:\BWP\BGII - SoA
6 Disc version of BG1
UAC is off
Anti-virus is off
No CD in disk drive
BG2 and 1 are patched.
Weidu version 22900
BG1 missing files installed
Internet disabled.
Oh and I downloaded all the mods manually without Big world setup (but I used the links given through the program).

Attached Files

(Not sure if this tells you guys something but anyway.)

Ok, so I did some experimenting.

On my previous attempt to install BiG the BiG world install errorīs started happening right after BGT was installed.

So I did a complete reinstall. Then I installed BGT seperately without any other mods. The install worked and played without errorīs.

Then I installed one of the mods that had failed previously (Yasraena). The install reported sucess and the game was playable.

Iīm not a programer, so itīs possible that Iīm just talking out of my ass here, but I assume that one/some of the mods that are installed before BGT are causing the errors. By overwrighting or deleating files or something like that.

So Iīm wondering if anyone knows if any of these mods are known for being problematic in the BiG world install or BGT.

The mods that are automaticaly installed before BGT are the following.

BG2 fixpack
GTU light
big world smoothpack

Region Of Terror, v2.1

Region Of Terror Kit Pack

Shadows Over Soubar

And finally.

Baldur's Gate Trilogy - Core

All these mods reported being sucsesfully installed without error, and after BGT all the errorīs started happening.

So do anyone have any idea? Any help is greatly appriciated.

Ok another report. I did another complete reinstall of the games. Then I disabled these following mods.

The Darkest Day, v1.14

TDD Character Kits

TORTURED SOULS v6.10 (BP Compatible Version)

Region Of Terror, v2.1

Region Of Terror Kit Pack

Shadows Over Soubar

The problem still remains, but I guess it narrows the list somewhat.

So does anyone have any idea whatīs causing these errorīs?

Okay another report.

I though that if I would be able to install the mods one by one I´d be able to figuer out which one was causing all the error´s.

So I started with the BiG fixpack, then I installed RoT, and will you belive it the game was broken by the very first mod I installed!

This is a bit discouraging to me since RoT was one of the mods I left out in my previous install attempt and that installation didn´t work either! So the RoT mod dosen´t work on it´s own, but it´s not the mod that corrupts the BiG installation program. Great.

So any tips on what to do here?

EDIT: BGT worked on it´s own through.

Post the actual error message you're getting (can be found in DEBUG files - post in SPOILER tags). It sounds like it could be a virus in bgmain.exe if it can't even recognise that (someone else had this happen recently).

Thanks for the reply. But I kind of got impatient and installed BGT seperately with some minor mods that seemed to work. I´m now well into the game (Cloakwood) and I just don´t have the patience to redo everything (BiG isn´t save game compatable from what I understand). So further assistanse isn´t really needed, still appriciete the effort through.

Did get a bit worried about the virus warning through. Scanned with Kasperskys and ad-adware but didn´t find anything.

Also, the DEBUG files arn´t the same as the BiG world debug text? I kind of did a totall reinstalltion (cleared the directory completely) so I don´t think I have the file any more unfortunately.

A .DEBUG file is what you get every time you install a mod. If a mod fails to install, that file will contain the full error message usually indicating why it failed.
