I know exactly which mod does this... and it leaves a note in your weidu.log regarding this. There is also a mod for the original soundset of Xan if you find the homepage of the mod that changes the soundset... which isn't that hard.
I hope no one just downright tells you... especially if its a problem like this which can be easily solved by just looking at the readmes...
The mod that changes the soundset of Xan to the original soundset is not part of BWP, but can be safely installed at the end. Try to find it on your own.
This is one of the reasons why I dislike BW.. because so many users that think can just click buttons and be satisfied with the end result... and not have to worry about reading the readmes. BW is a tool, not a means of existence.

How about reading your log?

Yes I figured it out.
I'm still not sure why someone would record horrible voice acting over Xan's original GOLDEN recordings.
I was kind of hoping that someone would "downright tell me" I'm not one for understanding anything more than "clicking on buttons"
Is this a modders only forum? I am just a casual gamer.

As for Xan's new voice acting in BG2, well, you'd have to ask Kulyok.

I get your frustration it is not often one finds the time to read through all of the mods that bwp installs. And after all, if one had the time to do that, then why even use the BWP? One could just install the mods manually then also, one could argue that the BWP is to some part responsible for this with it's "presets" in either case.I finally got everything working on my BWP installation. I am playing through baldur's gate 1 and got to Xan (one of my favorite characters) only to find...his soundset it changed!!! Why would someone do this?????
is there a way to restore the original Xan sounds without reinstalling the entire game/bwp?
this teenage highschool impression of Xan is ruining my Baldur's gate experience! >_<
But for casual learning: in your BGII - SoA folder, there is a text file called "weidu". In there is a list of all installed mods in your game. If you find something odd/idiotic in your game then chances are that you can look in this file and see if a mod did it, and what it's name is. But realize that it is generaly unsafe to change the installation after the BWP installer is done.
To answer your question, the mod responsible for this is "Xan's BG2 soundset in BG1"
It takes the soundset from the mod that adds Xan into BG2, which has this very unfitting soundset, and overrides his original soundset in BG1. Why? For continuity. As then, he will not change his voice between going from BG1 to BG2.
Personally, I agree with you about his original voice being golden, and I never install this mod.

Read that page. If you looked at your weidu.log, you would find reference to a xan mod and a soundset mod. If you look in the xan mod folder in you BGII - SoA folder, you would find a readme. If you looked at the readme, you would have found that webpage.
"BG1 soundset for BG2" try to find this. If you install no soundsets, then the BG1 Xan will sound like Xan but the BG2 xan will sound different. If you install BG1 soundset for BG2 it will replace all the sounds in BG2 xan with BG1 xan... it will also delete any Xan BG2 actor voices and make the BG2 Xan sound like the original Xan.
I'm not trying to be rude...
"Daddy what does this word mean?"
"Look at up in the dictionary dear?"
"I want a birdhouse!"
"Here is a construction manual and some powertools."
I try to live by this often,
"Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime."
Unfortunately, I end up doing this sometimes...
"Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you will not have to listen to his incessant whining about how hungry he is."
You learn a lot more about the world if you try to find a collection of answers on your own, rather than having a possibly prejudiced answer. This way, you have many opinions to decide from, rather than following prejudiced and predisposed opinions. So many wars, conflicts, and problems could have been avoided if most people followed this principle. While I highly doubt you'll get a prejudiced answer here regarding Xan... it is a good thing to carry forward in life... plus, you learn more too.

=/= means "not the same", not equal. So I said that casual gamers are NOT idiots. Next time, do try not to be so confrontational over a simple misunderstanding.
The PM was unnecessary, but I apologise if I unintentionally insulted you.
Thank you, and good luck with your gaming.
