I installed following all of the instructions. BGII SOA and TOB is in the games folder, I updated to the 26498 patch, and I started the patched game and made a quicksave and normal saved game. I downloaded the Big World Project from Fileplanet. I have UAC disabled and a ton of HD space. I extracted it to the BGII SOA folder and ran the executable. When I run it, it asked me if I want to update. I clicked yes, it says connecting, and then it says "fetching program updates failed", The required BWS file is not available. It says there will be errors. I click continue cause its the only thing I can do.
It builds GUI and then goes to the directory screen.
It finds my BGII folder and Big WOrld setup folders fine. I place a Minus in the BGI directory line like it says cause I didnt want to buy that one (following the diretion for the minus sign). Instead of green lights next to the directories, there are ... in the boxes.
I leave everything as default. English and recommended version.
I click continue. Nothing happens at all. The program seems to be stuck, but I can click continue and exit still, and nothing happens.
In my taskbar, I see a Big World icon and click on it. It says Script paused amd when I mouseover it, I see 14-Select_GUILoop.au3 Line 141: Sleep(10). The ONLY way I close the program is by right clicking on the taskbar icon and hitting exit.
NOTHING is downloaded, nothing is running.

Please help, I bought BGII again to try out these mods cause I saw it on Fileplanet and now this is not working. Thx.

The BWS beta is not updated anymore but so far, it is not really an issue :)

When it asks you to download updates, pick "no", and then it won't hang anymore, and it should work as expected from there.

Also, when it has downloaded and extracted all mods and it actually starts installing, it is going to "get stuck" somewhere in the beginning. This is a result of the fact that a mod (BGT) can't find your Baldur's Gate 1 path. So type it in the field. (like this: C:\Games\Baldur's Gate) and it will continiue by itself.

That is everything you need to be aware of, I think. It should work fine.

Thank you so much, that worked :) (and so simple, I feel silly...)

I fought my way through installing this monster, after multiple tries, finally two runs of the bat file (black box) that actually installs things. First time through it hung up on finding Baldur's Gate 1, it kept asking for the relevant path, but would let me enter anything, again and again echoing the same error and request. It wanted the program to be in the program section, even though instructions said to not put the game in programs. I had to go back and reinstall BG2 and Throne of Bhaal and the patch. Now it ran through mist the the BG2 install fine but all I'm getting on BG1 is error, not installed or installed with warnings. Or a message that something requires the TOB game and it's not there, when it sure as heck it there. So far this thing has been nothing but frustration and wasted an entire weekend. If I can't get it to run soon I guess I will just have to give up. I have extensively added mods to games like Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3, and wonder if it just might be better to add mods to this game by hand instead of using this useless installer.

OK, finished three hours of watching the black box tell me how everything was not be loaded because of errors or because I don't have Throne of Bhaal. Then the black box, after a couple of more error messages, went away and nothing associated with Baldur's Gate works. Weekend wasted, game not working, and I am totally disgusted with the whole thing. I really wanted to play this much bigger version of BG, but the install is just too hard and buggy (though it promises to do everything for you). There are so many version of this thing on the net, maybe I got the wrong one, but the picture of it running looks the same as the one on many posts here. Is there any kind of "if you follow these steps exactly it will work" guides anywhere. I am not a computer programer and don't have time to become one. Thanks.

)7/15/2011: After three days with a clean install, making sure everything was downloaded, newest version of Big World Installer, everything was working well with the install when I went to bed last night (after watching the black box for four hours). Woke up a couple of hours later and checked on the computer, which had crash. I rebooted, tried to start a game, the Tbexloader box came up, and.....nothing. Tried the fixer batch file, it ran, and still can't start the game. This has taken an entire week of my freetime. I may try it again this weekend while watching soccer, or I may not, and just give Morrowind another try. I have to say this is an ambitious project, but has it really worked for anyone?

Next the zeroed offset of all cre files will be replaced.

Right after this is when the fix program stops doing anything.

This is where all of the logs end, both WeiDU and the Debug. Does this give anyone any idea where things went wrong.

I had a similar experience on a second install attempt (the first one I buggered up myself - it's now working for me on the third attempt). What I realised had happened is that Restoring the backup (you did do that after the attempt failed? Need to do that every time you do a re-install) hadn't replaced the Override directory with the backed-up copy. Had to manually delete the override file which had replaced it (don't know why, maybe the biffing program?) and then manually put the Override directory back in the SoA directory from the BigWorld Backup directory. After that, I had a clean install again and the whole thing worked fine.

Good luck!
