I recently did a system restore to an earlier day and now my Big World doesn't work right. When I try to get updates it says
Fetching program-updates failed.
Probably the required file for the BWS is not available at the moment.
Due to these circumstances some new additions and fixes may not be available for you.
Since this implies a high potential of errors, we advice you to close the application, wait a few minutes and try to execute the the application once more.
Also, now there are duplicates of every folder and file. They have (2) and (3) for all of them. How do I rectify this?
I'm tired of not getting this to work right.
Things just get worse

It sounds like you want to do a reinstall. Go into the BG2 folder and delete all the Mod folders (the double and triple ones too). Then delete all the setup-mod exes, the mod tp2s ,the mod debug files.
Then load up BWP or BWS beta, and then if your weidu log is there it should ask if you want to restore, select yes. It should auto copy the backup (if you made one). Once that is done, hit exit. Delete the weidu log in BG2 folder.
Then run either one, select your mods (if using BWsetup beta) or select which version (tactics, normal, etc.) if BWP.
I did it this way a few times in the last week and it worked ok. You have to get rid of the mod named folders if you are reinstalling because the BWfixpack will try to fix them again and get stuck (happened to me a few times).
This is going on the assumption that you already have your mods in the Big World Download folder, because that updater doesn't work - I just skipped it.
Good luck

Reinstalling BG cleanly and erasing all mods from memory didn't really help. I still cant get 'updates' which I need because otherwise I'd have an installer with less options.

THINK! - It's not illegal.
