Big World with BP Ascension and Longer Road

€: I´ve just read that a new version of Ascension is in the making... so I guess I´ll play till I get to ToB and then see what the status is and maybe re-install for the ToB part. Installing with Longer Road for now.

Hi,

BiG World offers the BP version of Ascension and Longer Road.
I´ve wanted to ask if it is advisable to install them both and I don´t really feel like taking risks since it would be more than painful to play through all the content 200+ hours only to be unable to finish properly.

I will not install BP AI, but SCSII. Will BP Ascension even work w/o BP AI?
Does LR work with BP Asc.? I´ve read that could lead to trouble, but no specifics.
LR page says "There are some tricky issues with 'heavy' version of BP, LR seems to work fine though with BP-light." Whatever BP light is :wacko:

If it´s not advisable to install them both and I could install BP Asc. w/o the AI- would you recommend Asc. or LR?

Big Picture is not present yet. Big Picture is recommended,
however, is not condition for Longer Road.

Basically, it checks for BP if it detects Longer Road. While BP (which has ascension) is recommended, it is not needed for Longer Road, which implies compatibility.
LR's readme says it compatible with Ascension (the old one). But considering (in BP's readme folder) BP's version fixes bugs and improper coding, compatibility is probably maintained.

BP's Ascension doesn't give creature AIs and is compatible with SCS... with or without BP AI.

Also if you choose the "install both but without overlapping components" feature, the only problem you may get is a couple of creatures that are slow to attack.

Ascension is 15. BWP guys purposely took out the %NBP% so that BP Ascension will install regardless of what AI mod you have as long as you have BP in your directory.

Now that´s not so sure unfortunately.
I´m positive that I´ve read somewhere that they´ve introduced new problems and that compatibility with LR is a problem. I believe that to be the reason why there is a new version of Asc. in the making.

For now I´ll just play the waiting game, I´m just starting a new game anyway, going from BG1. Plenty of time. Can always backup my character file and make a fresh install for ToB.

No, sorry. It´s been a few months since I last fiddled with this stuff.

Which really make your(at least mine <_<) head hurt when you wanna try to figure out what´s going on exactly. And the people talking there are very knowledgable, yet they don´t seem to really know it either... that´s the problem and my reason for waiting for the new version

LR is apparently not compatible, but this was 6-7 years ago. Was this the thread? If so, don't believe it :P Keep in mind that talks about BP until "recently" is off. In a land before time, BP used to bridge SoS, TDD, CtB and so on in a megamod install. Now, BP is mainly an AI mod. Unfortunately... change logs do not have dates -______- So i'm not sure if the incompatibility report was before or after the change in BP.

Besides, I'm nearly 95% sure that the only issues you have, if any, is slight, sporadic hiccups in creature AI. But... I'm not much of a modder... I can barely mod a bulk NPC stat tweak :P

But I have a feeling that if the BWP guys don't attach a "BP-Ascension means no SCS!" message to the .pdf especially with all the other warnings in the .pdf (See refinements and spell revisions) on a core mod... it is probably fine...

I just wish DavidW's reports were linked >.<

I hope the readme is clear on this. SCSII was designed with the original Ascension in mind. Since then, a new version of Ascension has turned up. SCSII was not designed with this version in mind; reports suggest that there are clashes.
