Searched and found similar but not the same problems and with no answers, so I thought I'd start a new topic.

I just completed the BiG World (Standard version - No Tactics) full installation on my windows 7 computer. I had all four games (BG+ToSC and BGII+ToB) patched properly before installation. This went smoothly with no problems other than not being able to download a couple mods. I started a game in Baldur's Gate 1, and just started chapter 2.

My problem is a CTD upon hitting the rest button. It doesn't seem to matter whether I sleep outside or in an inn, or where I am when I hit the rest button. It all reaches the same end result; crashing.
I have added into the baldur.ini (in both my baldur's gate 1 & 2 folders) the line "Logging On=1" (without quotation marks) directly under the [Program Options] line. Attached is the resulting baldur.err file, but for some reason, it just says "---------------------Start Logging Session------------------------------------------Start Logging Session------------------------------------------" over and over again. At the same time that the .err file is created, another file named "Baldur.txt" is created and it speaks a whole bunch of code that I don't understand.

Both files, as well as my dxdiag and Weidu log are attached, just in case. Attached File  Err-Txt-and-DxDiag.zip   8.32K   254 downloads Attached File  Weidu.log   39.78K   235 downloads

Please let me know if you need anything else or have any other questions and thanks for your time in looking into this problem of mine.

The only success I have in eliminating the CTD on rest, under Mac OS X Tiger, is by installing Nythrun's Fix. The game is unplayable for me without this mod, so I highly recommend it!

Good luck,
Eric

Thanks for replying.

First off, I said that I'm running a "windows 7 computer". I'm not sure if that makes a difference as to whether or not the particular fix that you suggested will work or not but in the end, I don't think that it matters; if the fix you are referring to is the BG2 Fixpack (found here), I already have that installed (unless you're talking about installing it again).

As said previously, I installed the entire standard version of the BiG World installer which, upon looking back at my Weidu.log, installed the BG2 Fixpack.

Upon searching the forums, I haven't found anything forbidding the use of bumping, so forgive me and notify me if it is not permitted.

I'm still having this problem. Nothing has changed and I still have not found an answer. Any further assistance would be extremely helpful.

I guess if no one has answers I will seek help elsewhere.

I have the exact same issue. Tried multiple installs to no avail.

It might help to run Nythrun's Fix. Though I'm on a different system (Mac), installing that dead last always solves my CTD on rest issue (and it's the only solution I know).

Cheers,
Eric

It might help to run Nythrun's Fix. .

Does such a thing exist? If so, is there a link?

Well as far as I know, the history was that Nythrun was making the the BG2 Fixpack and other mods like Level1NPCs, and came up with a lot of new weidu functions.

Nythrun's Fixes today is a series of complicated fix functions that got added to the BWP a long time ago, in one step or another... I think the originals were actually the base of the Creature Fixer, a mod that's there to allow BP to work for example as it would break without it. And a part of the original Lol-fixes might be there too. And in the BG2 Fixpack(nothing magical there, well unless you are insane and decide to not use it... ).

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.
