I am currently writing an NPC/Quest Mod for BGT and would appreciate any feedback that I can get. I want the Mod to be good, and I want the Mod to be different then a standard *sometimes* overemphasized NPC Mod. The NPC in question will be early during the BG1 portion of BGT, standard fare NPC Swachbuckler, nothing particularly special about him other then a unique sword, 2D6 Bastard Sword. During the course of BG1, an event will bring the end of this character, opening all of his gear that he collects for himself (again nothing overly spectacular) for use by any party member. As the game progresses there will be a Quest set, namely new town with a tower and dungeon late in BG2. During the course of the quest the PC would aquire a sword for the former NPC's gear which triggers the final quest portion (dungeon), and the PC is given a choice between having the sword altered(cursed and nerfed) or giving it up to resurrect the NPC from first part. The NPC, who has been dead for quite some time will be changed, making him more unique and slightly more useful to the PC. There are more elements to the story which i am trying to avoid spoiling the mod. But that is the gist of the NPC/Quest.

Other features would include small upgradeable items, and what I hope will be a fairly intuitive system to gage HOW the player plays (i.e. chooses a Lawful-Good character but makes personal choices that would imply a different alignment.) It would incremental adjustments, not a: Do something the wrong way and your character changes forever type of change.

Please let me know what you think of the Idea, and if anyone is interested in the project let me know.

:new_thumbs: Great idea :) not sure how you will pull off so many areas, but if you get one area done, the rest will be easy! Looks great.

Not sure I understand, but perhaps this would be better as a change of the game rather than part of an NPC mod ?

You're talking about the "gimmicks" or extras that try to make a mod more appealing to the exclusion of talking about the NPC himself. Who is he, without his cool sword, alignment/reputation revamp, extensive quests, etc.?

Ah yes, the NPC is named Raven a True Neutral Elf. His personality is along the lines of a philosopher. His conversations are more along the lines of seeing how others view the world then trying to influence them. Gives advice on occasion, but mainly watches how things progress. He is an "acquaintance" of Gorion, Jaheria, Khalid, and to an extent Elminster. Not to say they are fast friends, but they know each other in passing. Family line is filled with Adventuring types, which is how the equipment comes into it. He is more mysterious about himself in the first half of BGT, rarely talking about his own experiences. After the resurrection the player gets a more complete look at who Raven is, and the history of his family. They were long time associated with the ancient God Jergal, and while once blessed considerably by Him, that power has waned even more then Jergal's power has. The only reason Raven is eligible to be resurrected, is because of an "interest" Jergal has in the Bhaalspawn, and those who would outright want to destroy them. As stated I am trying to be a bit elusive to the details as I want to avoid spoiling the story line on a whole. If you still want more details message me, and I will get more in depth.

Update: Raven is now a True Neutral Human, as it did work better. This resulted in a few changes to the character overall, and limited his contact with Gorion and company, they are as now more associated with his father. Which fit the story of his equipment a bit better.

Really? Another Elf? My current party is full of elves and Jan. One is even a priest of Amauntor (a human god).

His conversations are more along the lines of seeing how others view the world then trying to influence them.

Elves don't care how others 'see' the world, the Elven view is correct and all others are wrong. Also Jergal is a human god and at the time of his power no self respecting elf would be his follower. My strong suggestion is to make him a human from a long lost Netheril family checking out the modern world.

Thank you Chevalier, you make a very good point. Being a human would make more sense, I had thought to go with an Elf with a unique disposition, but going human would give an easy fix on how I was going to implement the resurrection. Thanks for the feedback

Update:BG1 part is just about finished and mod request is in. It adds a cameo appearance for CtB if installed, and some added work for Cromwell, this part will grow with every release. It will be initially a beta release, so I can fix bugs and compatibility issues. Anyone who likes the direction is of course invited to help, the next part will take place in BG2, so it wont matter if you have BGT or not, and a lot more in depth, it will be adding a few new areas to the game, which is a bit more time consuming, and a lot more involved. Still looking for voice help as well, unfortunately Raven will have to be "silnet" until I can get help here since I lack the equipment to do it myself.

I appreciate all feedback: How you like the parts done (3 parts). What you think could be improved upon and whatnot.

It is a small mod for now, but by total completion I imagine it will grow exponentially.

Do you mean that the BG1-part of your mod is done already ?
That's good !

Is there a website or another forum where I could see a little more of Raven ?
(Portrait, stats, etc...)

Good luck for the BG2 portion ;)
